Why does she have to entertain herself? What will happen if she doesn't ?

She has books, a computer and camera,...she's also on the track team, and baseball team at her school. She just finished her basketball season and got a certificate and a trophy for playing. Everyday, I encourage her to sign up for things at school so she can stay busy.

Yes. And no, I don't have a TV. No cable bill. No BET. No no no. Entertainment is a very low priority in my house. My children don't know who Nicki Minaj is. And they will never find out from me. Maybe some friend will introduce them to her music, but I won't. They know who Miles Davis is though. They know who John Coltrane is.. And Wayne Shorter.. And Ralph Ellison.. Even Jimi Hendrix.. We all play piano and guitar.. And we all write creatively and are well read. My oldest son read Moby Dick at 9. I suppose he could have been playing playstation.. If we had one.. But since we don't, he plays Geometry instead.. And Basketball.. And Chess..

My father bought them a Wii for Christmas.. Which we don't celebrate.. They play at their grandparents house when they visit.. But they are not so into it. Too occupied with actual things to engage fully with fantasy.

    So.. Do you have kids?

And let me tell you, it takes a lot of parental planning and execution to make this a reality. Conciously Creating and maintaining an environment is hard work.. You have to be fully committed.. And be willing to sacrifice your time and energy.

What is African American Culture? Whatever is on TV, magazines, or radio which is controlled by corporate White boys. We get our cultural directions primarily from this source. So Niki just happens to be " Next up!" This will continue until we get the snot beat out of us, have our population reduced from 14 million to 300,000 or some other drastic situation. As long as we have no African cultural political, economic ideology with institutions and an African spiritual system we will continue to be like the man sitting on the thorn crying and whining and refuses to pull the got **** thorn out of his ***. The institutions are instituted to confirm, promote and establish the culture.
As individuals without institutions we have to do all of this work individually which is draining as hell!!! We are overwhemlmed with Niki Minajs, saggin pants, korean and Arabs running our neighborhoods, training and educating kids, adults, debating, promoting, religion causing confusion, negative propaganda, hate groups, tokenism, self hate issues, sell outs ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! A ni&&a can't take all of this Sh**!!!

I enjoy the dialogue on here and the exchange of ideas and other aspects because it's a community but it woulod be wise to stop and focus on what matters sometimes to us most, to prevent another generation of African Americans..........................................................................describing the effects while the root, the ni&&a making machine, is steadily pumping out more and more and more crazy anti community Africans, you know what?! I can't take this s** No more............ AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! LMAO!

Brother--it's easy to change what's going on. It's so very easy.

But we are socialized to think that it's hard.

    You know what it is?

Talk to people on the street.

    Yup . . ..

But all of us can remember school and how hard it was to "talk to people" in the classrooms--everything happens for a reason. :-\

You normally have very good wisdom to offer but this you wrote went over my head. Can you be more specific?
