With party season arriving and many of us getting ready for family and such, I wanted to share a belief that I hold about New Years Eve.
The secret I discovered is to shape the coming year by DOING something I want more of; participate or create an environment that enhances some ascpect of my energy I wish to increase. In other words, HOW I spend the New Year's Eve actually determines the return on the rest of the year!

Allow me to bend your ear; for most of my youth, New Year's Eve meant going out buying a new dress if I could afford it, or pulling a hot number out of the closet, getting tickets to a party, getting my drink on and dancing the night away to the rhythm of the night. :drink::wine::dance3::drums:
All in all, it would be a long evening, and New Year's Day meant sleeping in.

One year, I got the idea to spend it alone, just me with some of my favorite foods, a few colored pencils, and some books by my favorite authors. Well, my family (who already thinks I'm eccentric) really thought I had stumbled upon crazy this time. I had a peaceful night, and I discovered that I really liked to draw. That year, I received a book called "The Artists Way" and more art supplies came my way. I also had a great year academically, and it was peaceful.

From that time on, I have spent more New Year's Eve's alone, meditating and doing acts of self-care.

Last year I made a HUGE mistake and did not listen to my Spirit! And I paid the price! New Year's 2007, I was guided to stay in town and attend a Jamaican party. Instead I drove into the city, rushed to get to three different parties and in the end felt exhausted rather than satisfied. The highlight was singing a few karaoke songs for a rather uninterested crowd.

Well, I ended up moving to the city in February, something I still pine over :qqb020:, I worked as a karaoke hostess, but I also moved 3 times in 2008! Was that fun? Heck no - I was pregnant during all the transition. The father and I were arguing that night and didn't see one another or reconcile in person, although I did want to see him. I wanted to see him in person to let him know he was going to be a father! Well this year was difficult for both of us and I have actually been more physically exhausted than I ever remember being in my life!

I wonder what the results would be of attending a masquerade party on
New Year's Eve? Or joining a group to meditate at a vortex? Or winning money at the casino (although that could be a little too risque)

It looks as if I may be hostessing a party this year, and that's fine with me, because I'm bringing in money and having fun while doing it. :band:
And as Mistress of Ceremonies I'm going to look so fine even though it's a little bitty pub :10900::em0100:

If not then I have other plans that are low key but inline with creating stability and increasing resources, and of course honoring my ancestors.

What are your plans for New Year's Eve 2008?

Great post Sister Phynx,

Lol@ stumbled upon crazy.

Alas, on New Year’s Eve, I shall either be working or studying for three examinations that I shall be sitting for in early January. Not a very popular decision with my family, but like yourself, they are used to my quirky ways.

The idea of doing a group meditation at a vortex sounds appealing. In the past, I have been invited to attend African spiritual sessions but I did not feel confident enough then to be in the presence of a Loa. I might approach the group and see if my invite is still valid.

If you don’t already plan to do so, may I recommend that you begin any endeavors to do with Ancestors, increasing resources, good health etc on the 27th because of the New Moon. This is a powerful time to communicate with Ancestors or to manifest some sort of positive result.

Actually, if you are willing Sister Phynx, we can try the infamous Abundance check experiment. I am usually leery of anything which has New Age written all over it but this one sounds interesting and worth a shot.

The Abundance check

Surprisingly, you really don't even need to believe that the check will work when you write it. You will however be amazed at the results, as you will see increased abundance in your life, in some life area. It is not always financial, but certainly in an area that you need.

There is a traditional manner, which has been handed down, that must be followed. If you do not have a checking account you can draw a check on a piece of paper and fill it out the same way - the results will be the same, more abundance for you.

Here´s how to do it:

1.) Within 24 hours after a New Moon, take a check from your check book. Where it says "Pay to," write your name.
2.) In the little box on the same line where you would fill in a dollar amount write "Paid in full."
3.) On the line underneath your name, where you would write out a dollar amount, write "Paid in full." [I find it works better if you don't add the squiggly line.]
4.) Sign the check: "The Law of Abundance."

Do not put a date on the check. Do not write a specific dollar amount in the check. Put it in a safe place and forget about it. The Universe will take it from there.

Many people are skeptical about trying this until they do it. After the first time they realize the power of these checks and do them routinely every month! Try it yourself and see!
Speaking of things to celebrate in the New Year, how is your little one? This reminds me to share something I read on a Myspace profile;
,
I was the first born of twins, rough birth with my fists up. Was in the incubator with my fists up and the doctor told my mom "this is going to be a STRONG little girl". My grandmother said I had my fists up every morning upon awakening for the first three years of life. Pay attention to children and what the familiarize themselves with...what comes easy, what they pay attention to. These are items that can give you clues about their past life.

Blessings.

New Year's magickal work? Hmm...

I grew up around old school rootworkers since my formative years (ages 0 - 7) were logged in an all-Black community of families that formed a hamlet right after slavery. One of my first teachers (although I was unaware of it at the time) was my granny, an old African woman, who was two generations from slavery herself. She would always say what ever you do on New Year's Eve would set the tone for the rest of the coming year.

On the 27th of Dec, write your desires for the coming year three times on a piece of parchment paper. Place incense charcoal inside a brass incense burner. Sprinkle sandalwood resin on the charcoal and light the charcoal. Set a seven-day candle that inscribed with a symbol of your desires next to the incense burner. Light the candle. Drop the parchment paper on the burning sandalwood and state your intentions to the universe of your desires. Allow the sandalwood to burn out. Once it's burned, pinch out the candle flame. Repeat the parchment process and the ritual for seven days beginning on Dec. 27th.

On New Year's eve, in a corner, place a bowl with fruit, a cup with coffee, a glass of sugar water and a white candle out for your ancestors. Place a piece of bread over the cup with coffee. Talk to your folks and tell them you are leaving them an offering. It would be good to perform a spiritual cleansing before you do so. As you cleanse, envision that you are removing all the astral dirt accumulated from last year, rinsing it away and leaving at the door of 2008 as an offering to the energies of the old year. Also focus on the bath as cleansing you anew for 2009 and allowing room in your field for abundance, positive energy and prosperity to overtake you.

Two days before the New Year, peruse some magazines and take clips of images of things you wish to accomplish, obtain or be for the new year.

Lastly, you visit the crossroads and speak with the guardian there for assistance.

Hope my submission helps....

Another thing is you can also host a party for children in the name of the Marassa. If you do this, make a cake for the Marassa. Make sure you have popcorn with soft candy mixed in between it. Give it with little gift bags to the child attendees. Have the kids make arts and crafts of what they wish for the coming year.

DE-CLUTTER

Well, for me, what I usually do for New Year's Eve is "Spring Clean" my house! I would get rid of all old clothes, mail any and all dirt... I would really get on my knees, with a glass of wine and nice music and CLEAN HOUSE! It feels so good to go into the New Year with no clutter, and No mess.. I always try to make sure my bills are paid and that I have money stack in my bank account! I never knew why I did this but it made perfect sense to me.. Take out the Old and make room for New things to come into my life.. i'M GONNA TRY THAT CHECK IN THE MAIL, IT'S VERY INTERESTING.. THANXX! HAVE A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEARS TO ALL
