Hetep! In the Shetau, or mythology, in ancient Kem there was a group of beings subservient to the Creator known as the neteru. The name neteru is best translated into english as gods. The Shatau mention the different interactions between these neteru, treating them as living entities which have feelings, emotions and interact with each other. The question that begs to be asked is what is the nature of these neteru, what is their nature and state. The first thing to know about the neteru when enquiring into their nature is to be aware that their purest, primary state of existence is that of aether. Aether is a gaseous substance which is positively charged and emits light. The best natural example of the state of aether is that of the noble gases, i.e. neon and argon which produce a natural flourescence. Being aether these beings are gas and have the property of gases, they are extremely subtle and can pass through and inhabit substances of the other material states, i.e. that of a liquid or a solid. As air can fill a glass or room, or gas can be in the water, even so is the state of these neteru. This is their purest form, and it is primarily in this state they existed. The first Neteru, Re Herakhte, the Supreme Person of God Himself, and Pa Khemenu, the Primordial Ancestors, are solely aether. This is the primordial state of creation, and is the state to which human beings aspire, to regain their aetheric composition. After this first level of divinities were produced they brought forth other divinities, which also have an aetheric makeup, but were placed inside of physical things. These divinities are the natural neteru and are embodied in the forces of nature. These neteru are Shu, Tefnut, Nut and Geb. The body of Shu is the wind, of Tefnut the waters, of Nut the heavens and of Geb the earth. These substances, air, water, sky/fire, and earth, are the bodies of these neteru who inhabit them just as your ka, personality, inhabits your khat, physical body. Shu is aether and resides in the wind. When the wind blows he is accomplishing it, when water rises or changes flow Tefnut is accomplishing it, when the earth quakes or splits Geb is doing it. This is meant literally and they are literal beings, being aether. After the emission of these neteru the final stage of manifestation of pa neteru happened. Previously the neteru existed on a aetheric plane, and then on an elevated physical plane, as earth, air etc are universal physial objects. The final stage for the manifestattion of pa neteru was as a single, physical entity, which is limited in its scope and range, this level of manifestation was/is that of man. This state was first realized by the five deities known as Ausar, Auset, Nebt-het, Seth and Heru. When we read about the happenings and interactions of these five neteru we are reading history, as these beings were physical men which actually existed and walked the earth. They are the begginning of the final state of divine manifestation, that of man. The purpose of Re Herakhte in creation was to activate the inert mass of nun and fill it with Himself through his members, pa neteru. Thus He had to have a manifestation of Himself in all the different levels of creation which existed. 1-Aether-Spirit-Re Herakhte and Pa Khemenu-Nut 2- Forces-Nature-Shu, Tefnut, Nut and Geb-Dwat 3-Man-Physical-Ausar, Auset, Seth, Nebt-het and Heru-Ta So the answer is that the neteru are aetheric, spirit beings which are indivdual personalities who really exist and not simply personified forces. And even more than that, some of them, their final expression and thus the furthest away from the Fountain of Godhead, are flesh and blood human beings, just like you and I. By becoming initiated into Shetaut Ra and following Uayt Heru, the Way of Heru, one becomes Shesmu Heru, Follower of Heru, and begins the path to becoming a neter incarnate, a divine being. We say one becomes a Neter because even though one possesses ba, divine soul, and is of a divine nature originally, because one is incarnated in this life one has previously had ones eye blinded by Seth and thus need to have it restored and relinquish any attachment to the physical world, or the Sethian plane. We are fallen neteru on the way back to the bosom of our Father, Re Herakhte. Hetep!
