Sister Cherry ... whenever you go from discussing the topic, to discussing your opinion of the Member personally, you're on the edge of violating ... if not straight out violating.

These are not real easy calls for me to make, some pass and some fail, so continue at your own risk.

It's best to stay as far away from discussing the Member personally, making them the topic, as possible.

It's a thin line you're walking, and it could go either way, when you choose to live on top of it.

If you find your posts are moderated, then you'll know, what you said did not pass.

    Hope this helps.

    Love You!

    Peace and Blessings Family,

I'm beginning to understand what Brother ABSiblings is saying. If we take the emotion out of our attachment to our "First Black TV Family", and look at it objectively, few will be able to argue that it would probably qualify as a "minstrel" type presentation. It seems to fit the bill according to some of the information / definition Brother ABSiblings provided.

But it's all we had ... the only presentations they allowed us to have on television.

There were no options to present anything else during prime time, we just did get that.

It's kinda like having to eat slop, that sustained us for years, then hearing someone refer to it as such.

In fact, much of our diet for generations, was a direct reflection of the slop fed to our Ancestors.

Many of us still eat those same things, and will fight to defend the legacy that sustained us.

That doesn't change the fact that it was slop ... what the ruling race would not eat ... fed only to their animals and us.

Okay Brother ABSiblings, i for one am willing to agree that it could be considered minstrel ... now what ... do you have something better to offer ... a better presentation to put before the eyes of our children ... are you in a position to do better than those before you ... or are you simply critiquing what is / was ... with no ability to deliver anything better than those you criticize?

    Love You!

Are you asking what was on the television?

Or how was the condition of Black people?

What's the relevance of your question?

Obviously, adding more negative to negative doesn't make a positive.
