Black People : Disturbing scene from Wayans Brothers "Scary Movie"

Like Precious.. the black folks are listed as the only writers and producers.. but here are the rest of the writers and producers...

Buddy Johnson (written by) &
Phil Beauman (written by) and
Jason Friedberg (written by) &
Aaron Seltzer (written by)

Lisa Blum .... co-producer (as Lisa Suzanne Blum)
Andra Dalto .... assistant producer
Eric L. Gold .... producer
Cary Granat .... executive producer
Brad Grey .... executive producer
Robb Wilson King .... associate producer
Lee R. Mayes .... producer
Peter Safran .... executive producer
Peter Schwerin .... executive producer
Bob Weinstein .... executive producer
Harvey Weinstein .... executive producer
Bo Zenga .... executive producer

You can see that the Wayans Brothers are minority voices in this film.. and that might be how they were able to open in so many theaters.. The movie is a combination of two other scripts.. I wonder how much of this is actually the Wayans writing. I still hold them responsible for pulling the black audience into the theater to be assaulted with these images.

how about this

stupid.. but direct. Nothing subliminal about it. The fathers advice is obviously outrageous.. and it actually implies the proper advice by flipping everything opposite. And... it has no impact without sound. Much different than the Scary Movie scene.
And this spoof is of black LA films.. by the Hudlin Brothers and John Singleton.

you are so right here and in ur first post. I never even before paid attention to what you pointed out. Sad thing is I still think dialogue was too funny. Yes this sheds a whole new light on the seen and there is alot of subliminal messaging in the sequence, all through out the film in fact.

it's too funny but look what comes along with it.. just like little wayne and rick ross talking about killing black folks over a beat that's too knocking.. and the Candy you were given to go along with your nightmares from Halloween.. and the gifts you were given to participate in the ritual of christmas.. and the candy and toys that made you forget about asking about the rabbit and the eggs on Easter.. its a tried and true technique. But back to film..

Film actually overloads your senses.. and you take in all of the various elements at once. Most films are at 24 frames per second.. thats 24 pictures every second.. and your brain is constantly judging the relationships between the images.. the angles.. the colors.. the sounds.. the dialogue.. your senses are literally flooded.. in a way that goes beyond real life experience. It's one of the reasons that movies can evoke real emotions in us.. the motion tricks your brain into thinking its actually experiencing reality. If the same story were written as a set of still pictures with dialogue bubbles it would not have the same impact. Its important to take a critical look at the things that are marketed to our group and also the films that feature our image. In the same way that you can drive down the street at 40 miles per hour and still take in whats happening around you.. talk on the phone while listening to the radio and constantly judge the distance between the cars in front, back an on the side of you.. while also recalling the laws related to driving.. while also thinking about other things.. your brain is interpreting all of the parts of the movie you watch.. And thats why its critcally important to understand the craft and theory of film first... before allowing yourself to be unnaturally influenced.. kids especially should be taught about film at the elementary school level.

"We all know and admit that film art has a greater influence on the minds of
the general public than any other art. The official guardians of culture not the
fact with a certain amount of regret and uneasiness. But too few of us are
sufficiently alive to the dangers that are an inevitable consequence of this fact.
Nor do we realize clearly enough that we must be better connoisseurs of the
film if we are not to be as much at the mercy of perhaps the greatest
intellectual and spiritual influence of our age as to some blind and irresistible
elemental force. And unless we study its laws and possibilities very care-
fully, we shall not be able to control and direct this potentially greatest
instrument of mass influence ever devised in the whole course of human
cultural history..."

I think we have to learn to reject whole things.. not just separate out the bad parts.. throw it all out.

On this note, I don't even waste my time on entertainers.

Entertainment is rooted in 'escapism' but I don't want to 'mentally escape,' I want to physically build.
