Black People : Disturbing scene from Wayans Brothers "Scary Movie"

peace

I've always had a bad feeling about them ever since first seeing their tv show years ago. Seems like they are modern day step & fetch it. I think they know it too which is why in the opening of their tv show they immitate 2 'good negroes', then try to flip it and be hard core, but it doesn't come across as real. Because once you start watching the show they revert right back to 'good negroes'.

thing is.. in living color was funny.. and it was just black people being funny.. it wasnt race humor like SNL.. it was just funny.. and so was Hollywood Shuffle.. and Shame was cool.. and Im gonna get you sucka.. when they were focused just on entertaining a black audience everything was straight.. but Scary Movie was their crossover move to the big (white) time.. won 5 awards.. did $277Million worldwide.. 157 Million domestic.. opened in 3000 theaters.. whereas Shame only did 29 Million.. with no international distro.. and 1400 theaters.. and Git you Sucka did 13 Million in 243 theaters.. Scary Movie is Keenan Ivory Wayans biggest hit.. and it wasnt just a fluke.. it opened in 3000 theaters.. and had an ad budget larger than the gross of his previous film. I think he literally sold out.. got tired of existing on the margins.. and went straight for self.

Oh, ok i didn't know it did numbers like that. I never saw Scary movie, but i have seen a couple of the commercial previews and i knew it was something that i wouldn't go pay to see. I'm just saying that it seems that they've always had a "tom" in them they were dying to let out. Even back in the In living color days.

Though i respected Damon Wayans for leaving comedy for a minute, when he said they started throwing all this money at him wanting him to sell out. At the time i had his last comedy show on Vhs and his show ended with the famous line: "before i sell out, i'll get the hell out" and he slammed the mic down and it broke in half and he walked off stage. You didn't hear from him for a couple of years after that. Now, even one of his sons is an up and coming comedian...

its even worse if you watch it with no sound.
you are so right here and in ur first post. I never even before paid attention to what you pointed out. Sad thing is I still think dialogue was too funny. Yes this sheds a whole new light on the seen and there is alot of subliminal messaging in the sequence, all through out the film in fact.
