I my opinion this is bad move..Lakers taking the risk of having a weak supporting cast in exchange of three hall of fame players to win a championship this year
I knew it would happen, just not in a four way trade. orlando gm must have been sleeping cuz they got robbed blind lol
Lets take a closer look: LA has (PG) an experienced 2-time MVP pass-first 10+ assists point guard with a high freethrow percentage.. (SG) a 5-time NBA champion pure scorer/closer that can get his shot anytime anyplace.. (SF) a feared defensive specialist.. (PF) a 5+ assists, 10 rebound, 15 point big man with a solid midrange jumper.. (C) a 20 point, 15 rebound, 3 block shot 2 or 3-time defensive player of the year Center... A very limited coach that apparently interviews well. That's a pretty tight squad.. The weakness of their bench won't be a factor until they're deep into the playoffs. If Phil were to pop up from the bushes to coach, they could very easily be looking at a high 70-win season and an NBA championship. But that's not likely to happen.. They're probably stuck with Mike James for this season at least.. so they'll be sold-out.. and I expect to see them in the Conference finals.. but the East is too strong right now.. it's really going to take some masterful coaching or some masterful staying out of the players way to get a ring out of this team next season. Mike James better not mess this up. Lakers aside... Philly did pretty well in this trade too.. Doug Collins is an excellent coach.. and it will be interesting to see what he is able to do with Bynum in Philly. Orlando doesn't matter.. and George Karl in Denver can win with any roster. Back to the Lakers.. I hope Kobe remembers what he did to Shaq. Cause it's about to happen to him with Dwight. LA's management has no loyalty.. Dwight is only 26 years-old.. and if they sign him to a multi-year deal Kobe could end up out the door. Kobe's contract is through the 2013-14 season. And as crazy as trading Kobe Bryant sounds.. it was just as crazy when they did it to Shaq.
peace I think this move was to make kobe reconsider retiring in 2 years. By adding howard and being able to keep Gasol, you are almost guaranteed to make to the late rounds of the playoff's and possibly more rings.
