re u' YO e 'r ou 'y ' If would be my guess what your writing/talking/etc. about is bartering, since only the currency backed by the U. S. govenement is valid, in this nation...But, yeah, during the jim crow eras, our forbears had to back each other's economic dreams/scheme/etc. The history can be found: Today's generation need to be humble as regards who they ask to tell them about it...FYI....
In the Spirit of Sankofa, .......Brother chuck, There are many examples contained in the thread about currency printing called scrip. Maybe you missed this: http://destee.com/index.php?threads...rency-to-keep-cash-flowing.62539/#post-647612 Susan Witt started printing her own money and spending it around town White folk are already doing it, and the question is when do we start. Peace In,
I don't claim to be a 'expert', but unless some things are backed up to legal agreements between the parties, whatever the one party is about is besides the point...FYI...
In the Spirit of Sankofa, .......True dat brother chuck, true dat; and from my understanding, the way this works is based upon agreement between the local parties, just as you say. Merchants accept the scrip(certificate or coupon, if you will) along with various other businesses, including a bank of the local community as exchange for real money, which has a slightly greater value or benefit over real money and can only be purchased with real money. At this point, the value of the scrip turns into purchasing power and remains within that circle of influence, never to venture outside of that community or network. If I have explained it properly, this process only has to be started by one person that produces the scrip and does the leg work to get it started. Before I confuse the situation any further, lol....take a closer look at the link I provided for the particulars. The overall value would be an asset in our communities, if adopted and acted upon. Peace In,
First of all, We need communities modeled after Greenwood, and yes, we need local currencies as a secondary medium of exchange. We do not know what will happen next with this economy. No one can really trust the decision made on economic issues. I feel it would be a plus if we did print our own money.
