He says that he's not 'religious' but he seems to cite Islam.
Nevertheless, his polygyny isn't 'traditional' as he says. He just made up some crazy good Black men to Black women ratio--he says 1:20; then went with that.
It only appears that his first wife would go along with anything. Even--as he says--staying with him as he was in and out of jail.
Personally, I feel sorry for the whole family. And it's saddening that African women are being so duped by African men.
