First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!! Secondly, you have been truly an inspiration to me. I have been designing web sites for the largest newspaper in our city for the past 5 years. I too am self-taught in webpage design as well as computer maintenance. Many people have been asking me why I haven't started my own business. I guess just afraid of failure and still learning all that I can. I have designed and maintained sites for a major league baseball team, radio station, theme park, shopping malls and other large companies in our city.
But after reading your article, that really hit home. The amount my company charge to design a site and what they pay me does NOT add up!! So, I thank you very much. I can now see EXACTLY how and where to start. My husband is extremely supportive and is giving me the chance to stay home at the end of this year, so this may be a true blessing in disguise. I read an article in Essence magazine about you. I myself would need headstart on what products to sale. One I encounter offered an opportunity to sell computers for their company $150 per sale. What they do is finance computers and you a monthly installments. I guess my point is I'm afraid of failure. I can do is try but I would have to get pass my fear. |
