I know I stirred up quite a commotion in a previous discussion...but now I come to you for advice...
here's a scenerio...what would you do...how would you handle it if...
You have a friend...that you've known for quite sometime...but you live in different states now...keeping in touch through phone and e-mail...
you know him well enough to know when something is wrong...and you just talked to him and you Know something is up...he's not melancholic...but sad...depressed...
You know that he has been seeing a mutual friend...this girl that he's known like since kindergarten....but....out of no where...there is a deafening silence on the phone which is broken by a sob....
you know something is wrong but aren't aware of what it is until he says, "they don't want me"
and you're confused...who? what? why? silence.
"They've dis-owned me," he says quiet and hurtfully....and manages to reveal something about him that you never knew....he is gay...and his parents have just disowned him...and if that's not bad enough...he lost his job as a teacher...
What about your girlfriend? you ask....he says....she was just a very good friend he honestly tried to "make it work with" and ignore his feelings...but he ended up telling her and on the inside they were just friends....but to the world, they looked like a couple....whoa!
how do you console him? you Did not see this coming...he is not a steriotype!
a very masculine brother about 5'11 ...195 lbs...goes to the gym...plays foot ball with his nephews...donates to UNCF...the makings of a perfect brother....in no way effeminate....what do you say?
how do you comfort that lived their life as a lie for the sake of society and their parents to be kicked out by both?
what does a true friend do or say when he confesses he went to therapy to see if counseling would make him straight? He had a three year streak of celibacy...so as not to be with men...what do you do? how do you pick up the pieces of the world that just crumbled and fell on top of one of your dearest friends?
