FASHOIN FAIR

Love has to be strong because the beauty of youth dies
do we have an answer to love beyond looks
God made us and just once and that is all it took
mend your soul with God while your beauty is there
because he never cares about if you are in fashion or if you are fair. This face for life we will wear till youth be gone and beauty fades , God will be there all of our days.
At all my peeps that entered my relm
don't cease to forget that God is the biggest Gem
we all are made by the Master's hands,
a unique design for us all as beauty stands,
as beauty fades what do we become
an object given to the fire gold is the outcome
we are always safe under the Master's shade
to loose youth is not satan's blade;
instead we become God's beautiful Jade
Remember no matter who you are
common or famous, you are God's Fahsion Fair Star.http://home.earthlink.net/~matthew97/_uimages/cap_243.jpg

Thank you for showin some luv on my page , you know I am blushing , and I wrote the poem because I feel that is something our people need to learn, I have seen too many , countless amount s of eldrely couples of other races stick with each other through thick and thin, through problems and hard times(married 60 and 70 years, till death do they part. Indians from India, Latino's, Caucasions, Somoans and etc., please forgive me if I sound racists, but I don't see many of our people hanging out togheter in old age and it's puzzling to me. I think love comes from the heart and mind: meaning it's a physcological thing that we as a people need to get past. I wondered if there are other who feel the way I do , I see that there are people who feel that way and I thank you for acknowledging the poem. Have a nice

I totally agree and our job now is to look out for all people and I think we can learn a lot from one another's cultures, good points and bad. World unity makes a better people.

Thanks for your replies! And showing some love on my page Have a nice day :-) Stop by anytime !!

Abisha-nice pic. But I think that you inadvertantly slammed Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. And Mr and Mrs Johnson, Publisher emeritus of Ebony and Jet and the director of Ebony Fashion Fair. Samuel L Jackson and his wife LaTanya Richardson--Samuel being on the cover of this months Ebony. LaTanya Richardson was the Black female judge on 100 Centre ST(A &E)? Thought she was Tonea Stewart on 'In the Heat of the Night' one of Tibbs's aunts. And others Black couples married awhile that WE don't know about. Check your local papers' wedding sections. You occassionally see Black couples married awhile-may be some you know.Edit-OK Samuel L and LaTanya was a stretch-but they have been married over 20 years and believe there were tough times there and they stayed together that long.

:( ok You are correct but my point is that I don't see the majority of us hanging out together in old age, what I mean is just the commoners hanging out at the park or sharing an ice-cream cone, or just going for a simple walk down the street. Many of our people are doing these activities, if they are black mostly women with children, other races hang out as couples even until their old ages. That was my point is that it is not common to see us (black folk)together in old age.

:toast: I see that happening in the near future in the name of JESUS!!! I know what you mean, we all need  and sometimes if a bro. does not answer that call we have examine other available choices. But I say : KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!! Someone will come your way :flirt:

Hello, we don't live that long on the average. Those that do either are divorced or widowed (either gender). But those that do make it both husband and wife is a joy. Again, see your local paper in the wedding section-that is if there ARE a decent amount of Black people in your area or if you have different kinfolks or friends involved in church, you can find them there, even if not in the local paper. Besides some older Black couples that are together have some ailments(arthritis and other things) that MAY limit them going and walking in the park. I doubt that you may see John and Eunice Johnson walking in the park. Don't know their ages or anything (and I can be wrong), but I thought that I saw Eunice in a photo at a Ebony Fashion Fair event with a cane.

Ok, yaphet al-wynn thank you for explaining for me. The famous ones have less ailments because they have adequate health care, I rarely see black couples together in the park going for a walk as a family even in thier youth.

Has black on black romance gone cold?

Maybe, ya know Clarence Thomas has hypertension and Rev JJ suffers from arthritis due to an old football injury and Halle Berry still has diabetes-even under control with diet and exercise-she still has it? Still when you sick, you sick, even with the best healthcare. Also what you are describing-walk in the park is for the young. For the old-check the walk in the mall(shopping), you may find old Black couples there. See plenty of 'em at the mall close to me.

I'm in Alabama, Birmingham-Don't know what city or town Destee resides-but I bet that she can back me up on some of the things that I said that older Black couples are in church and their 50th anniversary is announced in the papers (Birmingham News-Sunday edition) and sometimes their photos are there and some of the ones together do be in the mall either walking or shopping. If Destee is in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile,Montgomery or any smaller town, she should be seeing some of the same things. So you are from Cali,eh Abisha?Hate to tell you-you MAY have passed by some older couple in the mall or at any predominately Black churches-you do have predominately Black churches where you are. Do you? You'd be surprised by some of the ailments of our famous Black people.

Unfortunatley since I was a kid at the Apostlic church I attended there were only black elderly women with no husbands, they were all single. I did not know why because as a 15 year old child at the time, you just don't ask them, but I never saw eldered couples in church that were black. No joke!

Those celbs look so perfect you would never think they had a problem in the world, and I never heard that in the tabloids. Maybe I've been studying too hard in school, hehe

yaphet al-wynn

sorry to hear that. since you are older and if you attend that church, discreetly ask around on the elder sisters in your church. You'd be surprised by who will say something if they, the sisters, don't tell you anything directly.

Most of the sis. in the church are singe searching for bros. only the very young with no children are sought after for marriage.
