LET’S TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT SEX--BABY!

One of my mentors, Pastor Gene C. Baker of True Belief Missionary Baptist Church in my home city of Indianapolis, Indiana, got blunt one Sunday morning on the topic of excuses. “Excuses,” he told members of the congregation and assorted visitors including yours truly, “are nothing but LIES clothed in the garments of REASON!”

The reason why I started off with this quote; it seems that every time the teen pregnancy rates go down, some individual, or group, of airheads comes out with a report or a study to encourage people to ‘go ahead’ and be promiscuous. Every time people want to stop committing adultery against their husbands or wives, a study is trotted out to justify this heinous act. Every time there are individuals who don’t want to be involved in the homosexual, or lesbian lifestyle, a report comes out saying that there is ‘no harm’ being in the gay lifestyle.

In short, whenever people want to do the right thing, and stop doing the wrong thing, someone comes up with an excuse to try to keep people trapped in doing wrong. So, in this month’s column, we’re going to cover the five consequences of wrong behavior, when it comes to sexual activity outside of marriage. I’ll warn you up front, you may want to get out the smelling salts, because I’m not going to be handing out excuses, but facts.

THE UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES OF PROSTITUTION:
Indianapolis, Indiana, not that long ago, was designated the NUMBER ONE area of the country for the spread of Syphilis, via an increasing number of men and women involved in the ‘World’s Oldest Profession’. I’d hate to see the names of the other cities on that national list. We have been constantly told by the mainstream press that prostitution is a victimless crime.

Tell that to someone who has contracted Syphilis, or any other sexually-transmitted disease (STDs) including AIDS.

Now, many of those who are involved in this lifestyle come from good, honest, and upright families. But the lust for ‘a new thing’, or, a ‘good time’, or, ‘for needed cash’ with someone other than their husband or wife ALWAYS spells disaster.

THE UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES OF TEEN PROMISCUITY:
This one is mainly for the teens in the audience, but can be extended to college and university-aged young adults. For the young men in the crowd, those ‘free’ condoms that you have been given by your school, or, that you may have purchased on your own, are only 60 percent effective. On top of this, there are three other things you need to consider in your quest for a ‘backseat romance’.

First, many of the NEW STDs can STILL be transmitted, or ‘get through’ the common condom. Second, the guilt that you will suffer for that ‘five minutes of pleasure’ is going to get worse when, and if you meet the right young woman whom you want to marry. Third, if you do get the girl you are with pregnant, your earning potential will be cut in half for 18 to 20 years by a little-talked about law called Child Support Enforcement. If you play, you will pay--for a long time.

Now, for those young women in the crowd who think of themselves as the ‘campus hottie’, keep in mind that your friends, parents, and relatives are not going to be around to help you to raise that out-of-wedlock baby. Forget your education, because you will likely have to go to work to support your new family. You may get some support, but not much. The same girls that were squealing at your baby shower with you will be yelling in the phone at you, if you try to call them to ‘baby-sit’ your child.

THE UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES OF HOMOSEXUALITY:
If homosexuality and lesbianism are so ‘gay’, then why are more and more of these people who made the choice to get into this lifestyle killing themselves? Also, ask those in the medical profession if there are ‘cures’ for STDs. Many of them (if they are honest) will tell you that many of the STDs that were ‘curable’ are no longer that way, because they have mutated beyond the scope of present medical technology. We ALL know, AIDS is not curable. Many of these STDs take years to surface, and can kill a person in short--or long--order. Excuses won’t work, once your body has contracted an STD. If it’s AIDS, it’s going to cost you, your family, and society, about $150,000 per year to take care of you until your death. Nothing is happy about this choice of lifestyle.

Let's be honest about homosexuality. It is NOT passed on through the gene pool! It is NOT something that one can 'catch' like a cold. It is a firm, reasoned, and man (or woman)-made decision to have sex with a person of the same sex.

Ever seen an ugly homosexual or lesbian in the mainstream press? NO! The reason for this is a simple one, and it goes back to the same reason why you don't see 'ugly' drunks or 'ugly' dope users; many of those in the mainstream press SUPPORT homosexuality! I've worked in newsrooms for a long enough time to have run into this fact. Plus, if you read any of the gay publications, they ADMIT this to be true, and part of their agenda!

Now, for those who refuse to listen to logic, reason, and scientific evidence about the causes of homosexuality, let's go to the police blotter, which is MY area of expertise. Many child molesters, pedophiles, and gay men and women are more than happy to cite the fact that an 'older' adult molested them 'back in the day', and 'turned them out' into the gay lifestyle. It could have been an uncle, a brother, a mother, a sister, or a father. It could have been a babysitter, teacher, or even a priest. That secret shame sticks with them. Unless they are FREED by the power of Jesus Christ, they will continue in this lifestyle.

THE UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES OF WORKPLACE AFFAIRS:
It seems that the favorite spectator sport in American corporations and workplaces is: ‘Who can bed whom?’, if you go by the writings of the mainstream press and certain business publications. Call me crazy, but I had thought that the purpose of going to work was to WORK, not to fool around. Brothers, you have a wife. Sisters, you have a husband. I’ve noticed that, as time has progressed and the push has been made for more women to enter the workforce, ‘adultery’, has been toned down to ‘affair’, and then down to ‘office romance’ when women are involved in the pursuit. Don’t be fooled, my brother or sister. You will lose a lot more than your job if you cheat on your wife or husband. You may even lose your life!

THE UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES OF PROMISCUITY:
For my single brothers and sisters, don’t believe the hype that you are less of a person because you are single, and without a mate. There are far too many singles out there who are ‘desperate’ to ‘latch on’ to anyone that will pay attention to them, that they often wind up with more than they thought they’d get. Hitting the bars and nightclubs and ‘picking up’ someone who will ‘lay down’ with you is not going to lead to a lasting relationship.
Unfortunately, the old street proverb rings true: ‘Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free!’ Far too many singles are spending their time destroying themselves, based on the latest fad, trend, rap video, or Hollywood offering, to realize that if you WANT a quality person, you have to BE a quality person. You don’t meet a future wife of husband in a place that serves liquor, drugs, sex, or a combination of the three. Save you money and your future pain. If you spend much of your weekend wondering what you did the night before, it’s time to stop it, grow up, and find out what mature people do with their weekends. Surprisingly, some of them spend time in church, and in contact with Jesus Christ and His Word.
Don’t be deceived, because you WILL reap what you sow!
If we are going to talk about sex, then let’s include the consequences in our national conversation. As a matter of fact, let’s allow equal time for former adulterers, homosexuals, and bed hoppers to tell their stories about how they were changed by the power of Jesus Christ, and they have been set free from their destructive pursuits.

A fool in a uniform, or with a Ph.D. after their names, who does not know nor acknowledge God, the Bible, or any form of modesty or morality--but still believes that anyone can ‘do their own thing’ without consequences is nothing but a fool spouting well-dressed lies, clothed in the garments of REASON!
Fool me once, shame on you; but fool me twice, shame on WHO?

Umm. i can agree to a certain extent.
i grew up in the church. the women in my family are all deacons, ministers or reverends so it was instilled in me but i strayed away from the church a few years ago.
i just cannot put up with all that passing judgement and carrying on that people do. and have the nerve to call themselves religous.

I just believe people should be the best person possible. Moral people. don't hurt others. don't tell lies. work hard. be honest. be helpful. be loyal....

i can't help that i love a man! i was born that way. so how could i in good faith tell a man that it's wrong to love another man?

i don't think anyone in there right mind would choose to be gay, especially a black man! With all the hateful, mean and ugly ways they are treated by people. If you could change wouldn't you? Wouldn't you choose to be in love with a person who could have your children? Wouldn't you choose to be with a person that you could walk down the street with and not feel ashamed? Wouldn't you choose to legally marry that person instead of having a commitment ceremony?

I don't think people can help being homosexual or bisexual more than I can help being black.

I'm not gay. I'm not bisexual. I hope my children aren't but if they turn out to be that way. i'ma love them just the same.

This is a subject which is important to me and just like the battle we as people shared for more than 400 yrs it is a subject which i choose to entertain here.

What is homosexuality and why are people homosexual?

Homosexuals do not choose to be gay they wwere born that way!

Social scientists experience the same problems as others when we attempt to define homosexuality.

What does it mean to be GAY in amerikkka?
What is uniquely gay in thought, culture and experience?
Is homosexuality ultimately reducible to a simple sexual act?

if so what is the act and how do we classify self-identified lesbians and gays who do not engage in it?
How do we define people who engage in same sex behavior yet do not consider themselves gay?
Are those who live in stereotypical "urban gay ghettos" more gay than those who live outside those enclaves?
Is gay marriage a betrayal of gay liberation or an affirmation of homosexual responsibility?
Do lesbians and gays identify more with radical ACT UP! protestors or with conservative **Log Cabin Republican Club menbers?

Who decides what is or is not GAY or to whom they are accountable?

Family there is no disresect here just a bit of fact.. that I ask those questions of you with any expectation of an acceptable answer reflects an internalized prejudice that disrespects the diversity of our many different people.
My point is this, th church with its laxadasical and selfish attitude towards gays and lesbians, alcoholics, and other addicts,the inability of many church leaders to teach the word as oppossed to **PREACHIING* the word has caused more havoc that Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, Syphillis, genital warts and AIDS which is NOT!! an STD. Moreover, nothing displeases me more than someone sitting down in the front of the church labeling another human being or standing on a pulpit spewing hate and delivering misinformation and then seeking the face of the creator?

Last, often in an effort to put forward a positive image for our oppressors, we foolishly and mistakenly attempt to construct a single image of blackness or homosexuality to incorporate millions of different people. With our people my brotha this desire to project positive images while excluding others from the community because they do not fit our stereo type sends out a message that the creator never sent...

In November, Georgia's Southern Baptists voted to expel two churches that allowed homosexuals to serve as leaders. The national convention expelled two North Carolina churches in the early '90s on similar grounds.

...however, it is a spiritual issue. Until the spiritual side of a person is made right, the rest is merely a matter of opinion.

The Bible does say: Judge not, lest ye be judged. However, the Bible ALSO says: Judge Righteous judgement...meaning that the standard of men and women, who claim to belong to God, through Jesus Christ (who is NOT white, by the way) is the biblical standard. Nothing more, and nothing less.

I find it amazing that more people 'kick' about homosexuality than any of the other 'sexual sins'. However, I Corinthians 6 is very specific as to who IS going to be counted among the Righteous while on earth, and who is not.

Read it for yourself...and decide for yourself.

Thanks for great posts I always read them with interest. However, although you are correct about the spiritual issue there is also the issue of what is the measuring rod? For many my brother spirituality has nothing to do with how many are living in err of the truth and yes, more seems to be made of homosexuality than the other so called sins. Perhaps the fact that homosexuality is seeped in fear and question may perhaps be the measure I speak of.
You believe in the bible, I do not believe that anything man has written in of latin or greek or hebrew (which i speak fluently) can be fully transcribed into a singular language like ENGLISH? Moreover, if one reads the bible correctly the discrepancies start from the beginning. Again the GOD I have served for all of my life cannot possibly be the one served by many.

Now my bro I do not have to tell you where this is found?

...Alke, its all about relationship. Many, many, many people 'read' the Bible. However, it does not make sense to many IF they don't have a relationship to God, through Jesus Christ AND the words of Scripture are not illuminated BY the Holy Spirit.

Martin Luther had studied the Bible all his life...and was not only a university professor in a Roman Catholic institution, he was a recognized as a scholar. Until the Holy Spirit illuminated the Scripture passage about: "The Just Shall Live By Faith", he renounced Catholicism and Pounded his 95 Thesies on the Door of Wittenburg, ushering in the Protestant Reformation.

Now, the Bible WAS written BY men...that's only the portion of the story that many get stuck on. However, it was written BY men--selected BY God--and empowered with Illumination by the Holy Spirit (or, Holy Ghost if you want to get 'down home'). Some 42 men over the course of 1500 years penned the Scriptures via Inspiritation of the Holy Spirit. The OT confirms the NT, the NT confirms the OT, and the Book of Revelation brings it all together.

You have the freedom to check out whatever version you so desire. The KJV has been translated into other languages...but you know that. It is even in your native toungue.

The reason WHY the KJV is special...at least to me...is the fact that for some 260 years, NO ONE published a version to attempt to water it down. Plus, the Roman Catholics did their best to try to 'take out' King James (ie...the Parliament Conspiracy in 1609), repeated assassination attempts on his life, and contracts put out on each of the more than 50 scholars (that's right...scholars) who help in the translation over a period of 5 to 10 years.

In other words...Shakespear and the KJV existed in the same frame of time. Few take shots at Shakespear for his use of the language of English...but more than a few folk take shots at the KJV.

Now, if you have a problem with it being in English, I am sure that you can find a version in your native tongue. But I find it interesting that to communicate with me you have to write in ENGLISH...because I would not understand you if you wrote to me in your native tongue.

BTW...I'm glad that you are multi-lingual. However, the hardest people to convince about the Beauty of the Scriptures are those who have advanced education. In John, Chapter 9, Jesus told the Blind man to go and wash...and he did...and he SAW. The 'religious experts' tried to crack him with their 'education'...to no avail.

I pray that you check your relationship with God. Many know of him. Some believe that he is real. Some actually hear from him. But few can claim that He is Lord, and they ARE His people.

ALL SCRIPTURE is good....Check out I Timothy 3:16 and II Timothy 3:16. You'll see what I mean.

Also, I've check the 'other' translations after the 1611 KJV...many of them read like 'Russian Bibles'. They leave out a LOT of stuff.

If I were getting a new car, and were given an owners manual (written by men and women by the way), I would hope that those who wrote it had three things going for them...

*they didn't leave anything out.
*they knew what they were talking about.
*they stuck to the script of what worked with my car.

I have no problem with what you are claiming because it is not FACTUAL and to prove my point each edition that you have named is translated differently and any of the KJV (other than the Scofield) is off the hook, in err and hopelessly WRONG>.

Case in point> poor Jerry Falwell, little Pat Robinson( and don't get me started naming the African ministers)james Dobson and other fundamentalist televangelists use anti gay rhetoric to create fear and anger among listeners. For some mysterious reason, talkng about gay people as sick and sinful and a threat to the family and society has been a very effective way to raise MONEY* and get volunteers.We die from lack of knowledge my brother, and what those men do is agitate hate and wrong doing, and i pray that somewhere they find the truth and begin to speak truth to power.

Even though the nations scientific community has concluded that homosexual orientation is a natural
human variation leaders still hang on the ancient prejudice using a few sentences from the bible to justify their intolerance..They often are closet gays (Rev James Cleveland) and in being so they HATE the person(inside) as opposed to the action? duh??

Many good people build thier case against homosexuality almost entirely on the bible. Here i want to show as best i can that many of them are blowing smoke.

For example I learned Hebrew many yrs ago (20) and Greek Arabic, and Shahili in the last 10 yrs so as to better understand the original words of the biblical text and in other good books!! and respector of person. (In Dimona we teach all children and adults to speak the native language.)
We learn to study the biblical text in the language of its origen as well as the life and times of the biblical authors to help us know what they were saying in thier day so as to apply it to our own.

You have eluded to my having an education like it has gotten in the way of my ability to accept a higher power and to know that the creator is all knowing and all FORGIVING! Do not my brother flatter yourself, In fact what has been given to me is HEAVEN SENT twofold> i am a healer RN, certified nurse practioner a pespector pf person and an Atty who is obligated to save lives and bring life..So my question is where am i in err of misunderstanding? When we were new in the city of Dimona, i was the sistah who delivers babies ALIVE* Do u believe this blessings has stymied my knowledge of when to feed a child or to know when its time to change thier diaper?

2 TIMOTHY 2:15 RIGHTFULLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH

As we know bible ignorance has become an epidemic in the US. In a recent study in a book called :God the black man and truth* out of 1000 people 38% believed that the old testament was written a few yrs after the death of Jesus, and 10% thought that Joan of Ark, was Noahs wife. Many people thoght that the epistles were the wives of the apostles, so you see my brother even those who claim to love and trust the word of the creator have not studied a particular bible text carefully or prayerfully enough to prove or disprove thier own assumptions..

Where in the bible does Yeshua(jesus) speak about same sex behaviour?

I do not speak of the 12 i speak only of Yeshua, having said anything about homosexuality.

MY FIRST PREMISE

1. Jewish prophets were silent about homosexuality.

There are 6-7 verses out of the bibles million verses that refer to same sex behaviour in any way and none of them refer to homosexual behaviour as we know it today.

3 The people who say they understand what those 6 verses say about homosexuality don't even know where those verses are found, nor have they studied them carefully 0r PRAYERFULLY

4. They don't know the meaning of the words in Hebrew or greek.

5 They have not tried to understand the historical context in which those words are written.

MY SECOND PREMISE

Test all things and hold fast to that which is good

The assumption that the bible seems to condemn homosexuality has been passed down from generation to generation with very little research or study. The apostle paul said Test all things and hold fast to that which is good

Historically peoples misinterpretation of the bible has left a trail of suffering(slavery) bloodshed(KKK) and death (the death penalty) which has led people who misunderstood or misinterpreted the bible to do some terrible things. The bible has been misued to defend bloody crusades,tragfic inquisitions,to support slavery apartheid, segregation, to persecute Jews, and other non-christians, the holocuast,the third reich, use people as guinea pigs, oppose science, condemn interracial marraige, burn women

Mike, all that i ask is for people to understand that the ways of man are not for us to judge and have nothing to do with AFROCENTRICITY OR PAN AFRICANISM.
