Can one be both Capitalist and about economic freedom for Black Folks?

Brother Blackbird ... I say yes, because that is our reality.

We live in a capitalist society, and must at the same time, be about economic freedom.

I don't think that capitalism is our greatest hindrance, but instead, our choice not to financially support each other is what hinders us most.

If capitalism prohibited our financial support of each other, I'd say no to your question, but that is not the case. Is it?

ironically what is called or claimed to be capitalism or and NOTthe imperialism that passes for capitalism in this nation, actualy is as old as Africa and indegenous to Africa, because there was no PONZI mentality in the traditional African marketplace that has existed consistently, with it's own laws and reguations for over 30,000 years, in fact our trade with Mexico, thousands of years ago as well as our trade with China was much more equitable then what is seen today.
Once we truly learn to network collectively
we can have socialism within a capiatalist climate, as the Hasidim and Amish of Pensylvania do, in fact when ,
as Michael Moore will illustrate,
capitalism falls on it's knees we may have no ther choice but to network that way!

In my opinion it is extremely difficult and nearly impossible to attain Black ecomonic independence within the constraining box of capitalism. Capitalism sounds eloquent in theory and debate but the reality is that in order for an individual or a company to profit they must exploit a person or a people in order to get their goods, products, and labor at a wholesale lowball price. In any society that practices this form of capitalism the only people who will be willing to work and produce for the business owners "affordability" sake is always the people at the lowest socio-economic rung of society! With that being said, here in the Americas, Blacks and Latinos are in that position, and moreso Black people! With the increasing amounts of Blacks and Latinos that accept these jobs, in order to put some food on the table for the family, they will still be unable to have enough money at the end of the month to make an impact towards Black independence because of the limited means that they are working with. Hence, they will perpetuate a vicious cycle of dependence on the same system that outcast them and put them in that socio-economic condition!

Lastly the reality of it all is that some business owners do it without intent simply because of what is called "OVERHEAD." For those who don't know, overhead is the amount of money it will take to run a business for that month such as renting a store, lights, gas, electric, employees, benefits, and wages. Overhead is the number 1 reason small businesses fail in the U.S! So in order for many companies to keep their heads above water they must cut corners and abandon humanitarian ideologies for the sake of keeping overhead as low as possible. Hence, the business owners perpetuate a cycle because capitalism is mainly based on individual or private interest and to hell with the best interest of the people...no matter if they look like you and are from the same place you are from.

So in conclusion, capitalism perpetuates a dog-eat-dog mentality and with that ideology being the social norm it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to attain Black economic freedom. Peace!
