View Full Version : Support : Problems Since the DB Repair
Destee 02-21-2009, 11:40 AM Peace and Blessings Family,
It seems that some posts / threads might have been corrupted during the time that the database was broke, and being repaired
I still see a few threads, that got posted or posted to, during the height of the trouble, that are acting strange.
I'm willing to take these losses (they are few), if everything else is working okay.
So let me know Family ... if you see something other than this, that's not right.
Love You!

Clyde Coger 02-21-2009, 03:00 PM Hope this isn't confusing Destee, but I just posted, using the last known thread to post our finds, to that thread.
So, this is a duplicate report that editing a post is extremely slow and can only be accomplished by refreshing after a long wait.
lilpea 02-21-2009, 03:07 PM I had that problem also Clyde....but this time i didnt try and stop it...thus not kicking me out.

KWABENA 02-21-2009, 03:13 PM The only problem I may experience would be posting, but not seeing it in the Recently Posted threads/posts list on the front page. Other than that, I am not sure there is anything too bad.

It did not create a page 2, and shows as the 8th post in, but does show in printable version, it shows on Home and Index pages, Destee.

hmm .. numerical range of problem threads? congruence of any activities in problem threads during database repairs? error/warning/comment messages in relation to either/both preceding questions? congruence with any problem sectors on drives?
(following on a long ago "convo" regarding dns records; traceroute hangs for a bit at fortress itx before finally hopping to :?:mail.destee.com:?:? with the forum running on the mail server, that could slow mailing down. also, there might be some affect on the forum if/when mail gets busy. and if the mail server and the forum server try to update at the same time on the same computer? in a server farm environment where machines are running warm and constant anyway? funny stuff will happen.
not necessarily related to the db issue (unless ... well, that might would be a stretch .. but ...), but could have some bearing on the previously mentioned mail issue (messages or post/threads that i have forwarded to me seem to take a while), or even be noticed while waiting to preview/submit a post. (network timeout issues affecting communications pipes between poster and network possibly interfering with database update timing introducing anomalies in the database leading to corruption? [ok, i did say it was a stretch.] puzzles are fun!)
come to think about it, i always seem to hang a bit while surfing to the site.)
Clyde Coger 02-22-2009, 01:19 PM Your points are well taken and make sense, anAfrican; nonetheless, I see the problems continues, at least within the same thread...Peace In...my brother

anAfrican 02-22-2009, 11:51 PM at the moment, it looks as if the new york post thread did the same thing. (btw; it looks like you might have been caught by this bug as well - you double posted.)

No, the double post was my mistake for not waiting.
PurpleMoons 02-23-2009, 12:48 AM In Jamesfrmphilly's thread "The New York Post (http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58123&page=4)" it says 4 pages
but it won't let you see the 4th page. It's stuck on the 3rd page.
Also, the same thing is happening in Astrologer4u thread "An Abundance Of Queens (http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?p=570901#post570901)."

Astrologer4U 02-23-2009, 01:12 AM Just made a post and it did not post. I went back to the post by clicking the arrow going backward. I hit post for the second time but an error message came up saying that the post was a duplicate. However, when I went to look for the post, I didn't see that it posted. I just checked again to see if the post would show up, but it did not.

anAfrican 02-23-2009, 01:45 AM a work-around for those threads that exhibit this behavior:
click "thread tools"
click "show printable page"
go to last page

Clyde Coger 03-02-2009, 10:43 AM Destee,
I hesitate to make this report because, instantly, site loading/connecting went back to normal, for the past 1 hr. or so, connecting from Internet Explorer or Firefox was extremely slow. I also noticed this yesterday, as well. Hope this helps and not harms anything.
