Not Receiving Emails From Community


Greetings Family,

Some Members have brought to our attention, that when a thread they are subscribed to, is posted to, they are NOT receiving those email notices. If you are having this problem too, please let us know. If you are receiving the email notices, let us know that too, please.

For those not receiving the notices, follow the steps below, to be sure that your settings are correct.

1. Go to your control panel (http://destee.com/forums/usercp.php) and click on Edit Options (http://destee.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions). You'll see a screen like below:

2. Make sure you have chosen ... Instant Email Notification ... if that's what you want.

3. Move down the page, and click the SAVE CHANGES button.

That's it. You should begin receiving the message notifications via email.

If you do the above, and continue to have problems, please post them in this thread.

It should look like this:

Subject: vBulletin Email Test

You are receiving this email because your email address was entered as an email test at Black People | African Americans | Destee.

The first step of this email test script has been completed. However, a formatting test is still necessary:

A paragraph break.
A single line break.

Another paragraph break.
Another single line break.
Another single line break.

If the above lines look correct, you are finished. The email features on your server are setup correctly.
If this email is run together on one line, there is possibly a configuration error with your mail server. Please ensure it is configured correctly.

Tech support confirms the email was sent, and is working fine on this end.

If you've received this email, please let me know. If you haven't, its possible the problem may be on your end.

I apologize for the inconvience! We are looking into it, and trying to resolve it the best we can.

Did not the receive the test e-mail, checked several times but nothing has been received, however, I am getting e-mails from other sources.

The one e-mail I received and replied to came from your Yahoo address. I did not receive the other e-mail sent from the forums/site.

Brother Clyde ... thank you for this update.

Yes, you can send them a test email, from webmaster@destee.com, by following these steps:

1. Come to this thread, and at the top, you'll see ... THREAD TOOLS ... click it.

2. You'll see the option ... EMAIL THIS PAGE ... click it.

3. You'll be taken to a page, where you can enter the email address they want you to send the test to, along with whatever subject necessary (perhaps a support ticket reference number, test, etc.), as well as any additional information you'd like to include.

4. Those emails will be sent from webmaster@destee.com, and you can send them as often as necessary.

If there's more we can do, just let us know.

Yes Sister Destee, I will respond back immediately when the problem is resolved. Still waiting on AT&T and test e-mail still not received.

I have remained silent on this issue most likely because it does get over whelming at times receiving email notifications on threads responses.

However, I have not received notice for almost a year now. I DID turn off the notification then turned it back on maybe a month later. Never received notices tho and still do not....even tho...my settings are set to receive.

Why now:?: don't know..probably just cause the thread is here and to let you all know this is not an isolated issue. In addition, other life issues were going on that took precedence and that's why I never sought to rectify....months ago.

It is ok with me that I don't receive and...I would leave it active if it started working again....I think...:SuN018:

I have no idea why this has happens. But if you decide you want the feature back, contact us and we will run an email test for you. If that doesn't work, you may want to try contacting you isp as well.

I have no idea why this has happens. But if you decide you want the feature back, contact us and we will run an email test for you. If that doesn't work, you may want to try contacting you isp as well.

I attempted to check my premium member status bout a month ago and was not able to see it. I'm sure I did the right things to see it..yet..it was not there.

Now I'm curious if an email was sent to me with notification of pending expiration. Was an email sent:??

Sister True ... Hey Sweetie ... yes, once a Premium Membership has expired, i don't believe it leaves any evidence of it in your profile / control panel any longer. So you can't see what the date was that it expired, etc. Prior to its expiration though, emails are sent saying that it's about to expire.

Your Premium Membership actually expired 11/02/2008. So if you're looking for the email notification, it would have been sent some time prior to that date.

Your asking about this is making me have to respond publicly, admitting something that isn't really common knowledge. The Administrators and Moderators have fussed at me often, about letting Member's Premium Membership run beyond the amount of time they actually paid for. I've told them that i''m really trying to do better regarding this ... stopping the subscription when i'm suppose to ... and stuff ... but, well ... i've not completely corrected it.

I hope too, that some don't feel any kind of way, finding that some Members are actually given more than they actually purchase. It's my weakness. I'm often so honored that anyone would be willing to help, stopping the subscription is rarely at the top of my things to do list.

I remember thinking about stopping yours, long before now, but i had already let so much time pass, and then your Mother passed ... and i just couldn't turn your Premium Membership off, knowing you were going through so much at that moment ... so i waited.

So ... since you asked ... yes, an email was probably sent ... back in November, 2008.

I do hope this doesn't get me in trouble with the Family ... making some not want to help anymore, because they are learning that some get an extra month or two along the way ... but it's the truth.

If you find that you've paid Premium Membership for time beyond 11/08, let me know ... but that's what our records show.

Yes Sister ... you aint gotta talk economically challenged to me ... :eeek: ... whew ... it's amazing this community is still alive ... with absolutely no money to speak of. It's truly God, Our Ancestors, and the few that help keep us alive, that sustain us. That's why it's so easy for me to give more to those that help, because i know, we are all struggling ... and that great show of sacrifice, giving, when one doesn't have to ... i'm moved beyond that which can be imagined.

I'm sure that's why the TEAM kinda fusses at me about it, because some of them know just how bad things are for us, and they don't understand me giving more when we have nothing ... but ... like i said ... it's my weakness.

Even though you are not a Premium Member Sister, you should still receive emails ... :lol: ... that isn't a Premium Member Feature! We'll have to just kinda play with that and see what we can do, to make it work for you again. Give me a moment and i'll test some things out, try to see if we can get an email from the community, into your email inbox.

I just looked at your profile page and realize the personalization you'd given it, is gone! I'm sorry. I had no idea that moving from Premium to Regular, took that personalization from you. I can't say that when you reinstate your Premium Membership, it will come back. I just don't know. I'm sorry. My guess would be, that it will not automatically come back.

Okay ... give me a minute, i'm gonna play around with email, and see if you receive it. If you do, let me know.

I KNOW that's right SiS...I have the same type of "weakness"!

See I KNOW (and I sense maybe you do as well) that it's NOT really a "WEAKNESS"...at least NOT for me as an Afreekan Descendant. My STRENGTH is in my GIVING....overstanding and KNOWING..that when I do so...it's for the great good. It is certainly a STRENGTH in such an environment that we find ourselves...one that supports and encourages TAKE TAKE TAKE.....first...i.e CAPITALIZE! Living in a society based on GREED and getting more for less and all of that.
It may be a 'weakness' or rather...begins to cause HARM to the greater community when those who are receiving begin to horde as opposed to keeping it moving...you know....one who behaves in an irresponsible manner with that which they have received...then..my continued "giving" freely to them is likely to be "my" weakness when I KNOW full well they are not able or willing to "do the next right thing" with it.
