I thought election day was supposed to be the 2nd Tuesday in November? I clearly remember this because my birthday is in November and I was ineligible to vote in the presidential election in 1988 because my birthday was the day after the election. This year's election is scheduled for November 4th. Why is that? Will there be a secret one on the 11th that I didn't know about? Or is it the fact that 11/11 is a holiday, and no voting is allowed on that day?

Election day is the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November - thus in 1988 it was Nov 8th. Hope that clears it up.
