Sherman Burnett Jr.
Sherman Burnett was sentenced Thursday. He had earlier pleaded guilty after he was certified to stand trial as an adult. He was the youngest inmate ever housed at the St. Louis County jail.
The sentence includes 20 years for assault, 20 years for kidnapping, 10 years for sodomy, and 10 years for attempted sodomy.
The sentences will be consecutive, and Burnett would be eligible for parlole after 51 years in prison.
Burnett's attorneys had asked that he be placed in a program for violent juveniles. The judge rejected that request.

This is one of those things that I hate to admit to, but you are right. The suprise factor has long vanished from me. I now wonder what that says about me though.

This is exactly, where we all should be, imo. We want to believe the illusion that things are better and these people have changed. They haven't changed and will not, so we have to. That's the bottom line.
BallOfConfusion 11-19-2007, 08:37 PM I'm with everybody else, it's sad but I'm not surprised at all
KWABENA 11-19-2007, 09:42 PM Fact of the matter is, as I see everyone will understand, it will only get worse. I snicker at folks who believe that a better day is right around the corner. Next thing you know, deer will be running around public streets knocking out windows, and everyone will sit there and be like..."oh, I can not believe this happened!"
Welcome to the New Day - take it or leave it, it's reality.

What that says about you is you just have to limit the activity that you engage in to realizing your Divine Purpose, and following your Divine Purpose. If it has no-thing to do with edifying and and keeping you within the realm of the Khreator (Creator-God) that you serve, then it is not worth getting involved in.
Just my "two pennies" on that note...

Candace Makeda 11-19-2007, 09:47 PM What about the 6 year old victim of this horrific crime? How long will she endure the memories, bad dreams, and torment of what this boy did to her? For the rest of her life is my guess. 60 years is light compared to the life sentence that this poor child received. She will never be the same.

...the same could be said for all victims of such crimes, including the mother who was raped and assaulted by her own teen-age child.
If anything, that may have only been the beginning. Notwithstanding how their first 6-10 years of life are, they will face a nasty, hectic lifestyle and society coming up in Amerikkka.

kemetkind 11-20-2007, 08:59 AM I'm sorry, this teenager is not a baby. He raped a baby.
He deserves 60 years...at least.
Beat and sodomize a six-year-old black girl and leave her at the train tracks to die?
No. If we honor and respect black life we honor and respect black life. Period.
Not we honor black life only if the perpetrators against it are not black.
If you old enough to commit an atrocity like this you old enough to pay the consequences.
If it was my daughter...bump 60 years. I'd want this devil to be given a chance to try again next lifetime.
oldiesman 11-20-2007, 12:24 PM if this boy did what he's accused of then he should be locked up for life,if he were white and did this we'd be hollering for the chair.
Khasm13 11-20-2007, 01:15 PM what the heck did the parents of this 13 year old teach him?
13 years old is old enough to fully grasp what is right and what is wrong...
we really need to start holding these parents accountable for the actions of the children in their care...

Zulile 11-20-2007, 01:40 PM Nature, nuture, genetics, can one be born evil (or more open to it)?... :?: bottom line: There is something inherently wrong with this manchild. He should be put away for LIFE and consider himself lucky.
I did initially question him being placed in an adult facility, but at the same time, if he was placed in a juvenile facility, I'd fear for those other kids who may have chance of recovery.

I agree with you. When I first read about this, I tried to muster up sympathy for this child--but I couldnt. As a parent of two daughters I know that I would be outraged that he had the mind-frame to commit such an act. I wouldn't want him out on the streets to hurt anyone else.
KWABENA 11-20-2007, 08:06 PM ....As I said...
(Refer to previous posts)
This should have no-thing to do with having any type of sympathy for anyone. If anything, the Khreator (God) should have sympathy for us, but for some, not even that is possible.
