destee.com is more than 10 years old, providing a positive environment for Black People on the Internet. Everyone has always been allowed to participate at no cost, because we believe our communing together is important, and should not be limited to those who help financially.

Unfortunately, providing free services to the vast majority, costs money. It's a great challenge, with me struggling to keep us alive, and i need your help. As with every other aspect of this community, it takes the collective to make it a success, as no one of us can do this alone.

If you are a site owner (or know some), consider advertising (http://destee.com/advertise) with us. We have low rates and millions of page views monthly.

We do risk becoming another Black web site that has died (http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29677). While it's heartbreaking to imagine, it's not yet been our reality.

Good to be able to come back to a place I hope remains here forever.

Since 2003 I have been writing this off along with all donations I make to goodwill and everyone else. Many people write off the donations they give to Church. I don’t. I write this one off.

Keep supporting the cause... You are a GOOD MAN... along with countless others WOMAN included here. That has always seen clearly. Nothing not even parking comes free.

In July 2003 I was introduced to Destee, from someone a sister, I knew on BET.

Who couldn’t separate herself long enough from the struggle ( when and who to fight ) and I loved struggling with her on BET.

Got herself Banned over here. That is how I found Destee. Battling the elements over there.

She found Destee introduced me and told me about a wonderful place where the people ( us ) our people didn’t suffer the same hatred ) ... I rushed over man.

I was tired of the racist rants, and bigoted hatred allowed over there. Well for me it was a transition time and year. August 2003 to December 2005 I didn’t make a single red cent in income!..

Remby I love her. I love you Remby... you held me and my sanity together.

She and I spent every day all day in chat.

While I LOOKED AT A PHONE THAT NEVER RANG. At least from no employers, just bill collectors.

Talking about hurting.

In California with a house, two kids and a dog to feed. Not to mention the lights and cars to maintain and on and on...

Ow it still hurts!

I came to Destee's site and found growth and inspiration in many things and the people posting here. I was tight and near broke yet I didn’t hesitate to donate because ……

Destee ( the site) is infectious. Really contagious and grows in the heart, of the beat down, lost and battered souls.

Our Destee… ( The beautiful woman maintaining this ship. ) is just as communicable.

I saw it right away. And I still see this and ( I still pray and wish to this day) hope one day soon it comes to pass.

I hope Destee the site and our Destee grows so large, financially, and this site keeps up with the latest applications that Destee can keep introducing here for us to use as they come out. And as they are designed for communicating over the Internet... like You Tube. that newspapers are commenting. Reporters want to know the woman, and the people behind the scenes.

Although I was down with no extra income. I ( GIVE ) gave ( when first mentioned no hesitation ) because I want Destee the woman to not have to pay out of pocket to buy new and upgrade severs, pay the electric bill to maintain my work. I want the site here for all others who can’t find the heart to go on because there seems to no place in America where love can be found! When common friendship lends it’s self like this place does. I have seen turn arounds of hopeless incidents and situations. Times where we pulled each other from DARKNESS here on this site. Why. How? Because Destee the WOMAN... and this site was here.

I love all of you Destee people, and I love some more than I do others because love has levels. But show some support… I know you see something... it may not be as clear to you as it is to me. I just pray this I am thankful Destee is here.

HODEE brings up a very good point, do you or will you alert us before our membership expires? I would certainly want to know before my expiration date, if possible!

I believe you can see your Premium Membership expiration date by going to your User CP, you'll find paid subscriptions under Misc.

You encourage the Family above, not to make me have to ask again ... and whew ... that is hard ... always asking ... always appearing to be begging ... feeling so foolish, even a failure, for being in a position that requires me to ask for help. Yes, you're right ... we have years and years worth of words, experiences, thoughts, moments in time ... captured here in this community ... and i'd hate for us to lose any line of poetry, any paragraph of debate, any word, comma, smiley, anything!

Ohhhhh Brother HODEE ... i remember all of the above ... i mean, when you first came, and the Sister that brought you here, as well as the fact that you were not employed at the time, and still willing to help keep the community alive. The days and nights you spent with Sister Remby in voice chat, not just Remby, but all who entered received a warm and welcoming embrace from you! :grouphug:

I was thinking of the Sister you mentioned, trying to remember her UserName. Will you remind me of it please? You can send me a PM if you'd like, if you don't wanna say it all out loud (even though she was very vocal, she seemed to be quite private as well). I wanted to do a search for a post i remember she shared, regarding BET i think. Yesss, unfortunately, she did get banned but you're right, she was so zealous! She really didn't mean any harm, just focused and determined to address the issues that concerned her, not always willing to pay attention to the rules in the process. I enjoyed her too! She had so much energy and strength, i remember being shocked to find out she was a Sister! I thought she was a Brother until she told me different! Do you still interact with her Brother HODEE? It's been some years now, and i'm sure she'd be calmer now ... :) ... though i aint spoze to be invite'n banned folk back ... (it's so unfair to the Mods, when i do this) ... but gosh ... i miss every single person that has ever lent their Spirit to this effort ... and without her, we'd have no Brother HODEE ... so i'm forever indebted to this Sister. If you do still speak with her, tell her Destee said hi, please.

Ohhhh how i wish we could have money to keep up with the technology, add new and exciting pieces. I have ideas, but i can't even hardly act on them, for it's such a struggle just to keep what we have alive, let alone trying to upgrade, improve, etc. There's just no money for such. I wish there was, for i have lots of great ideas. I'm believing it will come one day soon, our ability to offer better stuff to the Family.

In the meantime, Thank You Brother HODEE for helping us maintain what we have, for without it, there would be no hope for a future.

When i first read your response, i wasn't cry'n, but now that i'm actually responding back to everything ... feeling the weight of the pressures i feel ... and thinking on the words shared, how others feel the love here, the refuge that we've created ... providing a place where we can come and get some encouragement and love and stuff ... that is sooo beautiful and i'm honored that it's not just me, that sees it, believes it, and is willing to help sustain it. That is the really beautiful part. I could go on and on, all day long, talking about how great this place is ... but if there is no one else that thinks the same, that's willing to sacrifice to keep it here for all of us ... then ... all my talk'n probably doesn't mean a whole lot ... i mean ... problee ... :)

You have no idea how much this helps me, or maybe you do ... but i am so grateful. Thank You.

I'm gonna really work on ending this very vicious cycle of always having to beg.

It's so demeaning and uncomfortable. If it weren't for those like you, it would be demeaning, uncomfortable, and we'd be dead.

I've been told that i romanticize this effort, the building and maintaining of the community, and that i'm living in a panacea ... though i don't really know what panacea means ... i guess it means sticking my head in the sand, hoping that things work out like i want ... that the Family will collectively care and help ... when it's usually always the same few that help, while the vast majority don't. I remain in denial, that this really isn't working properly, until i can't deny it any longer, and i have to cry and beg because things are so bad. It's so krazee, such a vicious cycle. There's got to be something wrong with me, romanticizing, panacea-ing, something, that allows this to repeat itself.

I've got to come up with a better way. I'm praying that God and our Ancestors continue to bless us, through this month and next, and come the first of the year ... a brand new year (Lord Will'n) ... i'll have to do things way different than i have all the other years, for we need way different results.

I'm good at what i'm good at, and i'm terrible at that which i don't know how to do. This is the part i'm terrible at, but i've got to figure it out, and i will, for it is a part of the process that never goes away ... paying for the endeavor. It's so weird too, because it continues to grow, every single day ... which increases the costs ... it's krazee and it's not new. We have a history of facing this same challenge, in this same way, with me hoping for the romantic beautiful Black end, where we all come together and help sustain the effort. It would only take each of us doing a little, but it doesn't go like that. I don't know what to do, but i've got to do something.

I'm not really fussing at anyone, other than my own self. It's ultimately my own responsibility, and i do realize this, which makes your help Brother HODEE, and those like you, all the more dear to me ... for you could be like most, and not help at all.

But you are not like most !!! ... :love: ... Thank You Brother HODEE ... you're the absolute best ... and i wish you and yours a wonderful holiday as well.
