Saul Stacey Williams
Hailed as "a dreadlocked dervish of words...the Bob Marley of American poets" (Esquire), Legendary poet Saul Williams is a powerful voice—a poet, preacher, actor, rapper, singer and musician. His groundbreaking work as a writer and actor have placed him on the front lines of the spoken word/slam poetry movement across the country; he’s perhaps most widely known for his leading role in the 1998 film Slam, which won the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize and the Cannes Camera D’Or. Williams has performed with the Fugees, Blackalicious, Erykah Badu, KRS-One, De La Soul and DJ Krust, as well as with poets Allen Ginsberg and Sonia Sanchez. He’s been published in the New York Times, Esquire, Bomb Magazine and African Voices, and has released four collections of poetry.

Family, you are invited to sit back, relax and join us on Destee's Friday Night Poetry Throw Down and Music Appreciation Night! This is a night of music appreciation where each week a artist is featured. It is also a night where poets can engage with others and share the power and diversity of poetry
This night is staged to provide a venue for people to celebrate, to share, and to encourage the writing, reading, and listening of poetry or short stories. That's what this night is about. Come and enjoy the beautiful, talented and expressive souls gracing our Destee’s Family. Fun can always be found here on Fridays, while you lounge in a comfortable, laid back atmosphere right in your own home. Bring your Flows! Bring Your Song! Bring Your Stories! Bring You!
You can Win a month of Premium Membership during Friday Night Poetry Throw Down! To be eligible to win, all you have to do is read 2 pieces of poetry on the mic. It can be your own poetry, or another poet that you admire (be sure to give credit to the author). At 11:00 pm-ish ET, we choose a winner from those who participated. Premium Membership features are nice to have!
We'll be having fun, flowing, free styling, reciting, playing poetry games, laughing, smiling and enjoying the fellowship of each other ... just having a wonderful and creative time with poetry! Do join us every Friday night @ 8 pm ET.
While Poetry Throw Down! Starts @ 8 pm ET, we are often there until the wee hours of the morning, so you can never arrive too late! Come right on in!
Hope to See You There! http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m175/reprorob_2006/397p.gif --Smoothsoul--
