Alkebulan has gotten the ball rolling on the letter writing campaign.

He has sent letters to seven political prisoners and has already received three replies.

The rest of us need to follow Alkebulan's example come on with the follow-through! (me included)

I've had the good will & luck to buy now 167 self stamp envelopes
and written 3 letters with 10 self stamp envelopes inside for prisoners
and received 2 return replys .

it was a relief to hear from these brothers and they are holding up well this far behind
bars and in the unjustice system......I wish them well .

I will be writting the brothers this week who are in Angola !

after som serious negotiations & a little arm twisting, we have finally received confirmation that our town hall meeting, which we r calling "INCARCERATION NATION" will take place this saturday, June 2, from 9 am till 1 pm & includes a free breakfast.

the focus will b on a discussion, by the community & panelists, on crack vs. powder cocaine posession & federal sentencing disparities.

we tried 2 get the mayor & hv invited jeff sessions (alabama legislator) 2 attend. we hv received confirmation of intent 2 attend from:

ACLU of alabama
alabama state conference of the NAACP
Drug policy alliance

b/c of the close proximity of this event, i will b unable 2 attend bro chat this evening - but, f desired, will provide a full report @ the next bro chat i am able 2 attend - or, post my summary n this thread.

I missed this date, but there will be more, lol. Look, take a read of this link I have provided below and let me know what you think. In stead of going to give the brothers something all the time, we can require something of them.

Here is the point, in every prison facility, there is at least one brother that has studied the law. Why not take a camera and note book with you, get permission, and lets interview the brother and use that information in the new Black Law Forum, in the Teenage Forum and anywhere else to enlighten our peeps......

tape recorders won't be allowed less you are some high offical or media covering
a case .
Maybe it can be done and hopefully some way maybe we have to collect infomation
through mail/letters and so forth.

Its worth a try, for real. Here is what I will do also brother. From my end, I will begin to do some research in finding out whats needed to be arranged for an in-mate interview, even if it takes some media coverage. As Destee.com wanting to do some good in the communities, we just might be able to pull it off Rich.

This site is old enough with an Internet presence to attract some attention and bring something good back to our Hoods. They just might like that. Lets share this with the brotherhood of Brothers Chat and see what our bros. say.

If we can begin to do something like this in St. Louis and Los Angeles, and Chicago, we may be able to start a chain reaction.
