Excellent idea RICH, rather than create new threads we can modify some of the many that have been created over the years. It also keeps a running site history, you never know, one day we will have to be able to tell the whole story:)
I encourage the same thread usage in GT(GroupThink Project-Group), we have ten now and trying to hold 'em down:)
After tonight, we should be able to do as Info-moetry asked about creating a list, good shot RICH...Peace In

$$RICH$$ 05-15-2009, 02:27 AM what you think about starting a new thread for brainstorming ideas ?
Clyde Coger 05-15-2009, 03:14 PM what you think about starting a new thread for brainstorming ideas ?
Actually $$RIC$$, I'm in favor of one step at a time, and do that step well, especially if we keep our eyes and ears open for problems and issues that may pop up. And then, Tariq and Nasheed have some things such as Economic Violence and the Ebony Experiment that matches our current situation pertaining to our Black People.
And then there is reviving the Prison visits that you had started. So, just in my opinon, rather than think of things, lets get the glue sticky, lets get entrenced in the 16 steps of Brotherhood first, and then proceed to knock of the agenda. For example, just building the Emergency Family Financial Fund will be considerable.....I'm thinking Bedrock, going down deep, then raising the building on solid ground.
Peace In

Brothers Chat,
Soon, this "check list" will be updated with the recent response, per Step #10, of Brothers Chat getting involved with Linda Chavis' computer problems and resolution.
This thread also satisfies the request of Brother Info-moetry's idea for a "check list." Thanks to Bro. $$RICH$$ for finding a thread already set aside in Brothers Chat Forum for the express purpose of, if you will, measuring our progress as we collectively approach Greatness through Brotherhood and the Step Away....Peace In, for real.

Brothers Only Chat...Master Project List Update:
Initially, this Family Emergency Financial Fund (FEFF) was created and started by brother lilpea several years ago, by taking the idea of helping others to Sister Destee. Over time and for lack of exposure, the idea lost it's momemtum. Recently and after similar discussion in Brothers Only Chat, lilpea advanced the concept again, and we decided to take it to a different level.
The thought behind the fund is to help contributing members of this Community, in addition to Site survival and maintenance, that may witness hard times in dire straits as a direct result of the current Recession the World fines itself in.
After much discussion on who can draw from the FEFF (Family Emergency Financial Fund) we concluded that across the board, register members whether Black, Green or Red are eligible to draw, if donations are made. A donation is a donation with no set amount, some may be able to donate more and some less. Premium members are already supporting the Site, so this donation would be in addition to that cost.
We also concluded that these efforts would remain in-house and that Sister Destee is automatically ad hoc or adjunct to our efforts through her blessings and being apart of any committee we may form, because this is her Site with exclusive rights. This position comes after much discussion and dialogue over the pass 3 weeks or so. As we build the FEFF, its name and location may change to a Bank and to better identify the various purposes for the Fund.
The central basis for the Fund currently is to aide and assist Destee.com Family members in hard times during this Recession, and there are other functions for the Fund as well. For example, Site maintenance, up front monies for the T-Shirt program, The Anthology, the newsletter, Moderator pay, etc…It is understood, that as we move into our Greatness (One Step Away From Greatness, by oldsoul…July, 2005), all revenue generating sources (Anthology, T-Shirts, newsletter sales, etc…) will contribute to the FEFF, in large proportions.
In order for this project to work efficiently, we are encouraging all participants to set-up a PayPal account (at no cost), and become involved with this 21 Century, safe Internet Banking system...Peace In Family

Brother Clyde, the women of SistersChat would like some clarification on the FEFF.
Destee 07-14-2009, 11:39 AM Brother Clyde, the women of SistersChat would like some clarification on the FEFF.
Sister CherryBlossom,
After you left last night, and we continued talking, we (i) came to the conclusion that what the Brothers are doing, amongst themselves, isn't really any of our business to the degree that they should have to answer to us about it. They have been gracious enough to share their minutes and stuff, allowing everyone to be privy to what they're doing, but they aren't obligated to do that.
Likewise, what we do in Sister's Chat, or as a result of it, should be held to the same standard by them.
These chats have always operated independent of each other, and we probably ought to keep it that way. It's the only time and space provided in the community, where each ... Sisters and Brothers ... can come together, work together, separate from the other.
I guess we'll talk more about this Thursday night, but basically, i'm just happy to see the Brothers working so well together, doing great and positive things, setting wonderful examples for our youth, all right here on destee! They've not needed "Sister Chat" to accomplish any of the things they've done, so we probably ought to stay out of their way.
Much Love and Peace.

Sister Destee:
With all respect, I really don't think you see this whole endeavor for what it is. And, if MY understanding is INCORRECT, then I am seeking clarification, not in the vein of anyone "answering to me or to the Sisters."
This is my understanding of it......
Yes, the men of BrothersChat are the ones who have SPEAR-HEADED, JUMP-STARTED this "Financial Fund," but it is NOT a fund just FOR the Brothers nor only BY the Brothers. They're just the ones getting it started up.
"FEFF" stands for FAMILY EMERGENCY FINANCIAL FUND. Therefore, EVERY Destee member is asked to contribute to it in any amount THEY ARE MONETARILY ABLE.
There were 3 men of BrothersChat who contributed money for Sister Linda's computer repair: Brother Hodee, Brother Info-moetry, and Brother Clyde; but that money was given from the hearts/pockets of ONLY those 3 men, NOT from the whole of BrothersChat and NOT from the FEFF.
Yes, I understand and can appreciate the BrothersChat and SistersChat being separate; but, for the sake of this community and for the survival of the site itself, I think it behooves YOU and other family members to be aware of what is being planned and accomplished. I don't think you should have the mindset that this is just something the "Brothers" are doing and everybody else should just stay out of their way. YES, we should all be respectful of their private Chat time, but as for "REBUILDING THIS COMMUNITY," everybody needs to come together and WORK together.
Again, with all respect, I think YOU should be more vested in what is going on within BrothersChat AND the Group Think Projects because those efforts are in progress in order to benefit Destee.com.
EVERYDAY in the shoutbox, Brother Clyde encourages this community thru the words of Brother OldSoul, "One Step Away From Greatness!" (http://www.destee.com/forums/showpost.php?p=349223&postcount=1) And it is THAT dream that I believe the BrothersChat and Group Think and Rebuilding meetings are striving to actualize.
Destee, can you VISUALIZE actually paying your moderators/adminstrators?
Can you see the Chess Class revived and being an active, international success?
Can you see poetry/spoken word/storytelling on CDs or videos or being broadcast on a Destee television channel?
Can you actually VISUALIZE one day being able to award some Destee teenagers a SCHOLARSHIP for college?
In short, can you SEE this vast potential and great VISION for Destee.com? And it can go as far as YOU'D like to see it prosper!
Now, please don't be offended. I don't mean to preach to you. Yes, I know that PREVIOUSLY efforts similar to now have been tried but unsuccessful. But, nothing beats a failure like another TRY!
But, I really think THIS TIME, it will be successful, especially when others see YOU more vested in the efforts.
I really think this whole plan is absolutely beautiful!
These 3 groups: BrothersChat, Group Think, and Rebuilding are working toward helping Destee.com be the BEST Black site on the internet!
Once some revenue starts being generated thru the T-Shirts and other projects, Destee.com can really TAKE OFF! You won't have to be stressed about site maintenance/upgrades any more and you will be exemplifying your "Core Foundational Pieces" and your Mission Statement.
Sorry, I'm so long-winded here. But, as for the FEFF. My understanding is that it is a financial fund that EVERYBODY is encouraged to contribute to, BLACK, GREEN, AND RED members, whatever amount THEY ARE MONETARILY ABLE.
And any member who contributes to it is also eligible to receive from it.
So, again, I really don't think it's productive for you to have an attitude of "Well, that's THEIR stuff. So, I'm gonna stay out of it."
No, Sister Destee.
YOU are the key ingredient/integral part in all these endeavors. These Brothers and other members are doing this for YOU and for all that you have given in time and money and prayers and cussin' and tears for over 10 years to keep this community up and running.
So, where possible, work WITH them, Sister Destee. Meet them half-way. ASK what you can do. READ the reports that are posted so you will be abreast of what was discussed and decided on.
Nobody is trying to TELL you what to do or trying to "run" your site. ALL of these efforts are for YOU and Destee.com.
No, right now, I'm not financially able to contribute but that will not be a permanent state for me. In time, I too will give. And not because I want something from the Fund but because I want to see Destee.com go further. I really do admire your tenacity and fortitude in keeping this site up for so long especially with all the many technical challenges entailed AND dealing with US!
Lord knows, I probably woulda let it go LONG AGO. (lol) So, my respect for you in that is sincere.
And whether I'm here or not, I would like to see Destee.com get TO THE TOP AND STAY THERE.
Sincerely,
CherryBlossom
Clyde Coger 07-14-2009, 05:45 PM Brother Clyde, the women of SistersChat would like some clarification on the FEFF.
cherryblossom,
This response is post your receipt of my answer, but explains in more detail since the FireFox browser restricted my note to 1,000 characters, and Internet Explorer kept freezing up on me:
sister cherryblossom,
Thank you for the below quoted user note, for you interest and for your participation in Destee.com:
Brother Clyde
Tonight in SistersChat, there was discussion about the FEFF.
It was brought to our attention that during Group Think last Thursday, it was suggested that the Sisters start their own financial fund. This idea didn't seem logical for there to be a separate fund.
Is the FEFF just for the BrothersChat or is it a Destee.com FAMILY fund?
You are correct cherryblossom in that the FEFF(Family Emergency Financial Fund) is set up for across/full site participation. The design of the Fund is to incorporate full site involvement through donations, gifts, etc…This fund covers from Sister Destee on down to the newest member, provided, gifts or donations, of no specific amount, are placed into the FEFF, in relations to Recession proof issues. Please find the total concept over in the Master Projest List thread in the Brother’s Only Chat Forum. There should be no misunderstanding of the suggestion made to the Sisters last Thursday concerning that idea of creating their own fund, which would be counter productive.
In my view, the issue of money remains the culprit preventing us from being truly “One Step Away From Greatness, “as presented by brother oldsoul. As soon as we mimic our ancestors of the Greenwood community in Tulsa, OK and we adopt Booket T. Washington’s philosophy on financce, we will only be one step away. It is the drive of Brother’s Chat to see this come to fruition, which is part of Destee’s vision for our people.
I am reminded of hearing Brother Tariq Muhammad often speaking with us on the financial or capital interests of ancestor Booker T. Washington, and therefore we vehemently oppose the notion that money and Black People are a problem. As you probably well know, we have the ancestors of the famous Greenwood community in Tulsa, OK as a model to offset the common knowledge among blacks that we cannot handle money. Again, we are grateful to the efforts of Black WallStreet and wish to repeat and carry on the work of that group of ancestors, here at Destee.com…Peace In my sister friend.

Sister Destee,
We started with the idea in Brothers Chat that Sisters and Brothers could come together and resolve any differences. We had tried to make this happen on Wednesdays. At the time, Street Soldier had Brothers and Sisters Chat on that day; but because it was such a good idea, Tariq and Nasheed created Thursdays, hence we now have Reuniting/Rebuilding our Community on Thursday nights rather than the original intent of doing it on Wednesdays. The concept remains the same, which is to say, bringing those willing brothers and sisters together for peace and harmony.
It is not our intent nor will we change the make-up of the respective Chat Rooms from the direction you have them going. So that you will understand the impetus behind the current Brothers Only Chat, we have always desired peace and harmony between all here, and we are attempting to build joint projects, but only if Sisters are interested.
Any misunderstanding on what I have explained will be sorted out tonight in Brothers Chat …
cherryblossom 07-14-2009, 06:09 PM Thanx, Bro Clyde.

Sister CherryBlossom ... i fully recognize, and live up to my responsibility for all that takes place in this community. That, and letting the Brothers have as much free reign as possible, to manifest the greatness within them, their ideas, suggestions, etc., are not one and the same. The Brothers have talked with me. They came to me. They asked my permission and explained the whole thing. I was honored, and gave them my blessing to do whatever they needed to do, in the best of manners, in line with the purpose of this community. They assured me that they'd see to that, and i trust them.
I am not a micro-manager, and even if i wanted to be, there's just not enough of me to go around. I can't be everywhere, in everything, at every level ... and i'm not trying to be.
Part of being a leader, is to let others lead. When God blesses you with Sisters and Brothers willing to take on monumental tasks, you want to try and move out of their way, and let them do that. Of course providing assistance, should they ask, but not hindering the process at the same time.
My response to you, in this thread, was simply speaking to the fact that Sister Chat and Brother Chat are separate, and one group shouldn't probably be spending too much energy concerned about what the other group is or is not doing. One group does not have to answer to the other group. That seemed to be the core of the issue last night, Sisters not understanding what Brothers are doing, but again, it's not really necessary for Sister Chat to understand that. Brother Chat does not take orders from Sister Chat, and Sister Chat does not take orders from Brother Chat. I felt that focusing on this one fact, makes the concerns Sisters were having last night, null and void. Problem solved i thought, but if not, let me know.
Of course, if you or any Member has a problem with what the Brothers (or any group found here) are doing, feel it is impacting the community negatively, feels it needs some extra moderation from me, have concerns that folk are being mistreated, or anything that goes against our core foundational pieces ... you're welcome to table those concerns, providing evidence and stuff ... but i don't think that's the problem, is it?
Let me know Sister.

So that you will understand the impetus behind the current Brothers Only Chat, we have always desired peace and harmony between all here, and we are attempting to build joint projects, but only if Sisters are interested.
Any misunderstanding on what I have explained will be sorted out tonight in Brothers Chat …
Brother Clyde ... this entire community manifests the concept of Sisters and Brothers coming together. It's everywhere you look around here. While i do understand the purpose of Thursday Nights, and find it refreshing, bringing us all together ... Sisters and Brothers ... it is not unique in and of itself. Sisters and Brothers work together every single day in this community, making it be what it is.
Brother Chat and Sister Chat are the only sanctioned separating of us in this community, where one can't take part with the other, unless invited. I think it's important that they stay separate. I believe Brothers are different than Sisters, and vice versa. You all will see things that we don't see, be willing and able to do things we can't do. Likewise, Sisters will see things that you can't see, and do things that you'd not do. It is up to each of these groups to determine for themselves, what they see and want to do.
I don't know what the problem is exactly, or even if there is one, but i'll be present on Thursday to find out.
Much Love and Peace.

cherryblossom 07-14-2009, 06:57 PM Sister CherryBlossom ... i fully recognize, and live up to my responsibility for all that takes place in this community.

Please don't take my previous post as any implication from me that you are "shirking" responsibility on Destee.com. That's not what I meant. But I was speaking to a more vested interest in what is being done on your behalf. You don't have to "micro-manage" to do that. Just simply staying abreast of the reports is enough, IMO. I know you can't read every thread on Destee; but they are not long. In fact, they're mostly set up like a "form letter," following the same format from week to week...just an update.
That's JMHO.
And, no, I have no problem with what BrothersChat is doing nor any other group, quite the opposite! Like I said before, I think these proposed projects and visions are absolutely beautiful! But, I don't think it should ALL be allowed to lay in the laps of the Brothers. There are other "reuniting/rebuilding" efforts that SistersChat can initiate that can facilitate/expedite the vision.
Yes, the Sisters and the Brothers are separate but all should be working toward a common goal, each group's endeavors complementing the other's for the good of the site.
JMHO.
Clyde Coger 07-14-2009, 07:08 PM Thanx, Bro Clyde.
Not a problem cherryblossom, no, not at all.

Sister Destee,
Trust me, there is no problem, and if there was/is, it will be sorted out in tonight’s meeting. Your presence, my beautiful sister friend, I look forward to Thursday, for real.

Sister CherryBlossom ... on one hand, you say that you're not telling me what to do, not suggesting that i am shirking my responsibility, and then on the other hand you tell me i need to demonstrate a more vested interest, stay abreast of reports, etc., even asking me if i can see the vision i've spent years working toward. You're confusing me Sister, for while it may not be what you mean, it is what you're saying.
Who said anything about laying ALL of anything, in the lap of Brothers? I'm lost. Please name one single thing that's been laid in the lap of Brothers.
Everything on destee.com works toward a common goal ... our core foundational pieces (http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59361) ... with each complementing the other, for the good of the site.
If you see otherwise, please point directly to it for me.

Sister Destee, please don't make this more than what it is. I am just stating my opinions/suggestions.
No one "SAID" anything about "laying all of anything in the lap of the Brothers." (Well, nobody except me, that is) But, that was just my phraseology, nothing between the lines at all.
And I do so hope Destee.com really gets to kick start this vision. Sincerely, I do. Also, I'm glad that the common goal is all-inclusive.
I, particularly, would like to see the SistersChat be more substantial. Perhaps, next week, we can work on an agenda of half work/half play. Laughing/joking/interacting w/each other is fine, IMO, with a limit. But, I don't look forward to 2 hours every Monday of just idle female chit-chat. Frankly, I can do that on the phone with other friends or online with IM or MSN.
I really enjoyed some earlier SisterChats when we discussed/defined "Sisterhood," and when (I think it was Sister Drea) shared an Eryka Badu speech and when Sister Vida (I think it was her) shared about an empowering book she was reading about a Black woman. Perhaps, SistersChat could start a Book Club. (Sister Linda has books to order.)~~~One week, Sister Sena shared w/us about genealogy. Perhaps, SistersChat could start something up for the site as a whole on that.~~~ Perhaps, my "Homecoming" suggestion could help strengthen the "Reuniting/Rebuilding" program.~~~ Perhaps, SistersChat could spear-head an online "Big Sisters Program" for the teen-aged girls on the site. (Many of our youth have no one to talk to about their issues/problems/pressures. Maybe they could have 1-on-1 time in the Chat room to talk to whoever is their "Destee Big Sister or Auntie.")
This is just some brainstorming I've done, just my .02
But, I really would like to see SistersChat be more structured/organized. And then, perhaps more women on the site will be encouraged to attend/participate.
Sincerely,
CherryBlossom

Sister CherryBlossom ... we all agreed last night, that Sisters would come up with a more focused agenda, and bring those suggestions to next week's meeting.
If this is really about Sister's Chat, what it is or is not doing, we should take this to another thread, and not muddy up the Brother's efforts, with Sister Chat talk.
Love You!

Brothers Only Chat and Family,
Soon, this master project list will be updated with a revision to the FEFF, per recent decisions to include disclaimers.
Clyde Coger 11-17-2009, 01:44 AM Brothers Only Chat and Family,
Soon, this master project list will be updated with a revision to the FEFF, per recent decisions to include disclaimers.
As promised: Revision of FEFF and Disclaimers...for the record and archives(The Revision was never accepted nor acted upon).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The FEFF (Family Emergency Financial Fund)
Initially, the Family Emergency Financial Fund (FEFF) was created and started by brother lilpea several years ago, by taking the idea of helping others to Sister Destee. Over time and for lack of exposure, the idea lost its momentum. Recently and after similar discussion in Brothers Only Chat, Bro. Tariq advanced the concept again, and we decided to take it to a different level.
The thought behind the Fund is to provide financial aid to those members that contribute to the Fund from this Internet Community; in addition, Site survival and maintenance may be covered during this period of Recession, as well.
After much discussion on who could draw from the FEFF (Family Emergency Financial Fund) we concluded that across the board, register members whether Black, Green or Red are eligible, provided they made a donation. A donation is considered any mount without restrictions; some may be able to donate more and some less. Premium members are already supporting the Site, so this donation would be in addition to that cost.
We also concluded that these efforts would remain in-house and that Sister Destee is automatically ad hoc or adjunct to our efforts through her blessings and is a part of any committee we may form, because this is her Site with exclusive rights. This position comes after much discussion and dialogue over the past 3 weeks or so. As we build the FEFF, its name and location may change to a Bank, after better identifying the Fund’s purpose.
The central bases for the Fund currently are to aide and assist Destee.com Family members in hard times during this Recession, as well as other functions, such as, up front monies for the T-Shirt program, The Anthology, the newsletter, Moderator pay, etc…It is understood, that as we move into our Greatness (One Step Away From Greatness, by bro. oldsoul…July, 2005), all revenue generating sources (Anthology, T-Shirts, newsletter sales, homegrown publican, etc…) will make donations to the FEFF, as determined.
In order for this project to work efficiently, we are encouraging all members to set-up a PayPal account, a 21 Century, safe Internet Banking system...Peace In Family.
Clyde C. Coger, Jr. Co-Treasurer... Tariq Muhammad, Treasurer
