OK, Family time is running out. I have been waiting and waiting, so far no concrete have been made. So here goes.....When: Sometime between June and August ....when the kids are out of school so that we can truly make this a family Reunion. Where: OYOTUNJI AFRICAN VILLAGE, Sheldon SC. The tour is only $10.00 per person, food runs between $5.00-$7.50 per person. If your into camping this is $10.00 per nite. You may rent tents from them if you wish. Sorry...No rooms on the grounds, but they recommend the Best Western which is only 6 miles up the road. Rate for the rooms is $65.94 for a double. Now if we go as a group we get a group rate at both places... the hotel and the village. Now If we go during Festival time, they can get us transportation to and from the hotel. I suggest that you look a the video that we have in the video forum and then check out the website. As far as I can see this could be a cheap trip for us all. Come on family lets get the ball rolling and come together and have some real FUN.......TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Hey lilpea. That sounds groovy. I need someone to do one thing for me. The Greyhound bus does not stop in Sheldon so I will need to know the nearest place it does stop. For some reason my phone gets a fast busy signal when I try to call them so could you call and find out where is the nearest Greyhound coming from Sulhor Springs, Texas? The number is 1 (800) 231-2222

Thanx

Hotep lilpea...

this certainly sounds like a DO~able plan to M.E.

Couple of questions...:
When is Festival time??
Are you thinking a weekend trip or a bit longer?
Are the rates ($10.00 per nite) the same during Festival time?

I will BE going to the website and see if I can locate some answers and will post it back if someone else does not reply prior to me.

I imagine a weekend trip may BE sufficient for starters..say from Friday -Sunday...that would BE my vote.

Thanks for picking up the ball and running with it!:great:

http://www.oyotunjiafricanvillage.org/calendar.htm

here is the calendar of Festival events for 2007.
I like the idea of going July 7-8 to participate in the "Mythical festival of dances and recitations to the Deity of Destiny; mass gathering of Yoruba."

Seems fitting especially based on the primary purpose of this Festival..."Deity of Destiny".

That's all i have on it for now....:time:
