two blocks from darkness
wrapped inside an angels wings
now two steps from light


sentimental breeze
covered calm of quiet still

neighborhood is calm
across the river tension
and the smoke rises

siren sounds blasting
congestion stalling movement
and the smoke rises


phones and tv's hum
communication needed
silence through the smoke

out da meadows of
age da Godly warmth fulfill
da heart of living

The city that does
not sleep, rudely awakened
Spirits need their rest

at the beginning
smells of delicious grilling
fire hotly dancing

ceremonial
entrances to heavens gate
see the smoke rising

so many left us
5 more within the next month
twas all so sudden

city tries to heal
Ground Zero, so sobering
I stood there staring

aromatic changes
psychological illness
flowers and trees die
