Bill Cosby Says 'Turn Off BET' This Time Is He Right?
www.eurweb.com/story/eur29622.cfm

*Comedian/Actor/Philanthropist/Activist and of late, social commentator, Dr. Bill Cosby spoke to almost a thousand people on a Saturday a couple weeks on how we fix public education.

That's highly salient issue here in Los Angeles, as it is in almost every major city in America. So when two of the area black school board members (Saundra Davis of Culver City and Marquerite Lamotte of LAUSD) paired with Assistant Superintendent of Pasadena Unified School District and legendary educator extraordinaire, George McKenna to form an African American Educational Civil Rights Agenda, Cosby.in his own words, "wanted to ride on this bus."

Bill Cosby, "America's Dad" turned Black America's most vocal social critic, has pulled no punches on his frustration with the state of Black America. He's done everything one can do to try and change it. He's joked about it. He's role modeled it (in I Spy, the Cosby, Fat Albert, and Little Bill).

The sad thing is many African folks will say, "here goes Bill again", without even listening to his constructive criticism. I stopped watching BET as soon as they got rid of Tavis Smiley, because he was one of the very few reasons I watched the station.

BET has/had no entertainment value for me. I only watched it a few times. It's only so much soft porn I could deal with

Turn off BET????????????????????

First of all, we as a People need to go on what has been called a "TV Fast!"

Secondly, this here Destee Family has been saying "Turn off BET/MTV/VH1" for some ___ years! Bot to mention, this comes from someone who did an episode with Black Men being pregnant! QQn

This is no-thing new, no-thing new at all.

How are cable stations evaluated in terms of viewability? Does anyone know?

Do cable stations rely on the number of viewers watching or the number of ads (commercials) they can sell....or both?

Who watches BET? It's never been a station that I felt represented me in terms of my perception of the Black community overall. For the most part, it's "white" television with "black" faces, except for the music videos which I'm not sure how to describe without breaking this community's rules on banned words.

I would like to see the demographic breakdown of people that watch BET. Are they mostly Black people, white people, other races of people from different countries trying to see what they think "real" Black people are like in America?

Whatcha think?
