i can well imagine that seeking out compilers (or much of anything) for windows that doesn't cost an arm and leg - and works - could get tricky. but like i said, compilers are standard issue for pc_unixes. heck, one can find all the tools one needs to do anything (and pretty much everything) for free on this side of the tracks!

but, as i said, a google search for gcc turned up MinGW (http://www.mingw.org/docs.shtml). not being a programmer myself, i actually couldn't quite tell if this was what you had in mind until i checked the documentation (http://www.mingw.org/docs.shtml) page. even so, the download (http://www.mingw.org/download.shtml) page confuses me a LOT! i'm not sure quite what to download, but i figure you have more idea of what you want to do ...

now let's try the search again with "free c compiler for windows".

this one, Dev-C++ (http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html) appears to be a full IDE (integrated development environment). plus there is a page with a list of free compilers and other resources (http://www.bloodshed.net/compilers/index.html)!

i think microsoft had an express version of visual studio that was free. you can get gcc for windos and use eclipse + gcc and that would be free. for windows specific development you probably want visual studio...by any means necessary..

I do not like the Dev C++. It is very hard to compile, and correct errors on it. Is there a better one out there?

Turbo C++ might be alright for basic stuff. I use it for ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE with IBM-PC during grade school.
