View Full Version : College : Where Are All The College Students?
Destee 09-27-2001, 07:45 PM I've noticed that many of our Members indicated they were students in their profile, but you all aren't posting here??!!! How come?
I'd like to know where you attend school and how is this new year working out for you so far. Are you a freshman, sophmore, junior or senior? What is your major?
Perhaps you may find other students sharing your same experiences and you can connect with each other, posting your thoughts here on the forum.
C'mon ladies and gentlemen ... let us hear from our future!

Watsy 12-07-2001, 11:41 AM We are thinking about colleges also. My son's a jr in h.s. Here's my question: His goal is to become a designer of roller coasters
 . I know he has to excel in geometry and physics but where do you go to find out what other MAJOR classes he has to take, and which university is best for this type of profession?
Thanks.
Watsy
$$RICH$$ 12-07-2001, 11:47 PM i don't know but northwestern offers thing such as that
and chicago UIC also offers u many major classes
DePaul has a good one too but i just don't know

Watsy 12-10-2001, 11:51 AM Thanks Rich. I know Northwestern has a summer program for 7-12th graders, similar to but more expensive than Macalester College in Minnesota. He went to a two week session in Physics and the class built a simulated coaster. The program is a really great experience and he looks forward to going back in 2002. Hmmm, looks like I just answered my own question!

KWABENA 09-13-2004, 03:43 AM We are thinking about colleges also. My son's a jr in h.s. Here's my question: His goal is to become a designer of roller coasters

If you or he would like to know what classes he has to take, you have to get in touch with the college or university (whatever it may be), and ask them. It is them who decides what classes he needs to take. And if he has already decided his major, make sure that he gets some Geometry and Phyics books and videos and study them well. The the major, get books from a library or whatever and study those books well. He will make an intelligent upperclassman. Good luck to you and him!

I am a Sophmore at Stephan F. Austin University. This new year is great I stay off campus and loving it. My major is Accounting with a minor in Advertising. I will become a CPA. I would love to work for a corporate company for about 2-5 years , then me and my friends are talking about opening 2 night clubs. panafrica 10-12-2004, 11:23 AM Hey Remby...no recruiting! As soon as I can raise some funds, I'll become a college student once again (I'm interested in law school)!
Therious 10-12-2004, 04:15 PM i cnt figure out if i should go back or not, do u think its better to take a course or read a book on ur own? i know group learning has its benefits but so does independent study im so busy w/ everything else its like i dnt know, + its been so long by time i finish id be like 32. besides i dnt wnt to work 4 anyone else i gotz to b the boss.
panafrica 10-12-2004, 04:26 PM The age you finish doesn't matter brother Therious...in today's world 32 is relatively young anyway. I've been to school with students in their late 40s, 50s, 60s, and older....you are never too old to go back to school.
I am working on my master's degree in Biology @ Wayne State University. I got my bachelor's in Elementary Education, minor in educational pyschology from Grand Valley State and an associates in early childhood development from Grand Rapids Community College. Im 22. I feel like a bookworm, literally. Im crazy lol, don't ask me anything, I'll sound like my mother was a science book lol. :?: .
MANASIAC 10-12-2004, 06:02 PM Hey yall sorry for the late entry.
I will be working on finishing up my undergrad in the spring of 05 and hopefully in late 06 I will be starting LAw School.
BabyGirl22 10-29-2004, 12:31 AM Hey all,
I am a freshman at Tufts University in Medford, MA. My first year is going pretty well. I work, cheer, and attend class. Plus I am part of the pre-legal society. If you can manage your time well, you can do whatever you want. College students NEVER sleep, from what I've seen so far. But it's cool. Do what you're there to do, learn, but also have a good time. I am thinking of majoring in Political Science and eventually making my way to law school.
MrBlak 10-29-2004, 04:45 AM I am studying Geogrphy/Public Policy and Public Administration at Concordia University in Montreal. I will graduate in the spring and finally be done with school for good!!!!!!!
Hey everybody!!!! Sorry I'm so late!!!1
Well, I am currently a freshman at Northern Illinois University (those of you who know me should remember how stressed I was to get in) I am majoring in physical therapy. It will take me 6 years to finsish but I'm ready for it. I have no probelms with not sleeping at night just to study. I manage my time pretty well and so I don't have that probelm. Currently I have pretty decent grades and I think that I'm doing better than I thought I would be doing. Honestly I thought that I would be wild but hey, common sense musthave kicked in cuz I am not likethat at all...once again, I will say that that is to my surprise:lol: sorry my post is so long but it's been a minute since I'v been to the forum. Well, with that said, I gotta go back to some work.

Lpres 02-10-2005, 08:37 PM Well I just joined this forum and I'm a college student at Saginaw Valley State University. Well, college is cool but it cost to much. SVSU is the cheapest institution in the state of Michigan but its cost you a lung and a arm. Just know it is well worth it.

KWABENA 02-11-2005, 03:21 PM ............................I don't know about all of the college students, but this one right here has alot of work to do, and he does not have as much time as he used to. Not only that, it is in God's best interest that I keep my head in the books!

shenelly 07-11-2005, 06:35 PM Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum, so what's UP! Anyhow, I attend Missouri Western State College?Univerity in Saint Joseph, Missouri. I was a nursing student, but naow I'm a Ciminal Justice Major with a minor in Psyc. I continue to pray that the Lord will guide and show me what he wants me to do.
College, man, it's truley the start of a whole new life. I didn't realize that until I moved off campus. Paying bills, buying food, cleaning house, just doing all this stuff on your own. Sometimes it's just you and the Lord. It's been times when I didn't know how I would make my next meal, pay bills, whatever, but through prayer and fasting, I got through it. If you're a students who's about to go to college, all I can say is pray, and continue to be covered by the Word of God cause it can get rough out here.

DestinyLove222 07-14-2005, 06:18 PM Hi. I have been on black people for some time now. I just haven't had anytime to post anything. The reason why is because I have been so busy. But whenever I have some time I do make the effort to post. I am going to being attending Middle Georgia College in the fall and my major is Pre-Nursing, and after that I plan to go to a 4 year university to finish and get my RN,BSN. I would just like to give a shot out to Destee. She helped me get through some rough times by giving me words of encouragement. Thank you to all the people here who offer words of encouragement on this site. You can brighten someone's day with one kind word. :spin:
krazelyricks 07-15-2005, 01:34 AM I am a freshman at Spelman University and my major is journalism. Afterwards I'm going to Med School at Emory University so I can be an anesthesiologist.
Deepvoice 07-15-2005, 02:16 AM Oh never mentioned what I was going to major in. It will be broadcasting or something very similar because I seem to change my mind alot with the upcoming school year.
Deepvoice 07-15-2005, 02:17 AM Hey krazylyrics nice to see someone my age up in here, I"m guessing you are about 19 or 20.
