Nope, but I have in the past, I couldn't quite pinpoint what the disorder was though, I think he had bi-polar disorder which I didn't find as bad as the other illnesses. If somebody does go that route, we all know there wil never be a dull moment:hammer: lol

Yes they are very colorful people! What was your experience like when he had his moods?what was it like when he didn't? I noticed alot of people are bipolar and don't even know it! I have noticed that outside of their illness they are very sweet and loving and extremely intelligent. I think trauma and genetics play a key role in this illness. It has never been proven of what causes it!

I think another term for bi-polar can be: "a hard knocks life"..lol. This guy burned the roof of my car with some white hot coals from a barbeque we were having, then turned right around and tried to cool it off with a 40 oz. he was drinking!!! That's just a beginner.........I had to leave that alone,:ref: that one only lasted as long as the roof of my car burnt:bye:

Well, I would want the person to be honest upfront about it rather than it coming out later in the relationship, particularly if it is something that is a recurring thing.

Would I continue dating someone like that? It depends on how bad their condition is and how much I was initially attracted to them.

What if you loved him and he was perfect for you in every other way?
How bad is too bad?

Well, if it's to the point that I thought he might be abusive and/or if we're arguing so much that there is no joy in the relationship any more.

It would depend on how severe the condition was and whether he told me upfront about it. Also it would depend on whatever else he brought to my life.

Some people with these disorders are very talented in other ways that some so-called "normal" people are not. For ex. I've worked with people in clinical situations who have been labelled as disturbed. Many of them are very, very bright. I love talking with them. They're just not able to function successfully in a variety of settings.

Yes they are! They are usually triggered not just acting this way every second of the day. I also work with them and I have one friend who is very successful, smart and beautiful inside and out but when people hurt her she goes into this deep depression or rage and stays in the house with no lights on

LOL!! Probably best for everybody that she stays inside!

There are many people with these disorders who haven't been labeled yet.

And there are many retarded people or "slow" people who have no idea that they are delayed or "slow." I'm definitely spatially retarded 'cause I can get lost around the corner from my house. LOL!!

Likeso, there are MANY people who are developmentally delayed or suffer from arrested development emotionally who don't realize why they have various issues in their lives. This is why I don't shut the door on people who have these labels. It would shut out too many people.

I am extremely emotional myself! I have and will never hurt anyone because it's not out of anger. Actually it helps me with my poetry and relating to people who hide their emotions by making them bring it out.
My sister has ocd but it's not the point where it hurts her way of living.
Like she constantly checks the doors to see if they are locked.
Washes her hands alot.
Walks back and forth alot.
It does not occur everyday.

I'm sure if 100 of us went to a psychiatrist, at least half of use would be diagnosed with something or the other.

What disorder did she have? What did she do to you?

1. I dont know what she had. She was in therapy off and on while we were dating

2. She enternalized any slight and never let it go. If you accidentally stepped on her foot, it was later assumed you did it on purpose. She tried to steal my friends. When that didnt work. She tried to assassinate my character. Falsely, accused me of beating her. Stole from me. Then called the cops when I confronted her about it. Tried to do the same to members of my family, even the ones she liked. Stalked me.

I finally had to call on my beloved sister. She handled my problem. LoL

Oh, she showed all kinds of signs. But you know what happens when you're in love. I just thought she was a little high strung that day. It was that time of the month. The full moon was out. I did step on her foot kinda hard. She had had a rough day.....Etc etc etc

Yes they do, and because they are ashamed and afraid of their illness they don't feel worthy of it!
Did you know that seizures can cause mental disorders?
Would you not date someone because they have seizures!

Well, not to brag, but I know it was the best threee years of hers. She tried to come back after finishing her PhD. Tried to dictate terms. Think she felt, with her doctorate ( and no job ) that she was all that and would have her pick. I laughed in her face.

That's the part of the disorder that baffles me!
They are so intelligent but out of tune with emotions, reality, anger, fear, sex most of the times.

Agreed. On face value, she has it all. Looks, intellegence, class. But somewhere in the brain, the logic doesnt sink in. I think she knew/knows. I think that's why she doesnt have a man today. Or should I say a stable man. Looking back on it, I was the most stable relationship she ever had.
