I am seriously considering getting a digital camera. Who can recommend the best digital camera for beginners?

They are very nice to have , I haven't really looked at name brand
but what the camera can do and the best picture they can give...

depends on how much money you have to spend.
Nikon and Canon are very good, Sony is also good.

you should read a lot before making a purchase.
get any of the camera magazines on the newsstand. PCPhoto is good.
i read for a year prior to making my purchase. (canon 20D)

you will need photoshop and you will need a computer that has enough horsepower to run it. you need RAM.
you need disc space.

you also need to decide what type of pictures you will be taking.
your gear depends on the output you want to see.

start reading, that is the cheapest thing you can do.
