View Full Version : Black Poetry : The Opposite Sex?

Different genders, yes, but not
really opposite, we're more the same
than we are different, in more
ways than we can possibly name.
We both want to be appreciated
for whom we are inside
Letting the glow of our inner spirits
be our primary guide
Both sexes like to be able to communicate
freely, whatever we need to express
Be it fears, secrets, hopes, tenderness,
we shouldn't have to wonder or guess.
Male and female want someone who
will treat them respectfully
Value their opinions, and not be made
to feel a fool, or the subject of mockery
Realize that they both have talents
and each have an intelligent mind
Praise the other for being so gifted
knowledgeable and quite a wonderful find
Both want to feel needed, even if they
can both readily function alone
Kings and queens reside in the same castle,
even if they each occupy a separate throne
But I think most of all, we just want
to feel each other's unconditional love
Thoroughly sharing that mutual adoration,
cherishing God's gift of each other, sent from above
Opposite? Not really...
Complementary? Definitely!

Nevar, if you take the time to read this again, you will find that I didn't say that we are all the same, I said that we are more alike than different. Either your caps key is stuck, or you are yelling. What are you yelling for? If I need to hear wisdom from an elder, I have the elders in my own family to refer to. I haven't responded to any of your poems by either yelling, or suggesting that you heed the words of one of my relatives. If you aren't able to respond in kind, do not respond at all. Now, are you open to that? Thank you in advance.
