Bush did not cause the hurricane.

Congress not Bush appropriates money for levees and other projects. Bush has yet to veto one bill that Congress has sent his way. If Congress had wanted to spend more money for levees they could have.

Bush declared the area a national disaster area before the hurricane made landfall. That allowed the state and local offices access to all kinds of federal resources.

Finally and most importantly Bush is constrained by the Posse Comitatus law from doing anything with the military without the State and Local governments or Congress giving him the go-ahead. Y'all have been trying to get Bush impeached since day one. Had he sent in the troops to keep order and such y'all would have had a good shot of getting him thrown in jail.

I'm in a Hotel on the way to the Gulf Coast Area and decided to do a little research on the history of FEMA and their record on responding to Hurricanes. This is going to disappoint the race baitors and poverty pimps, but FEMA was even slower to responding to a Hurricanie called Andrew in 1992 even though it effected more Whites then Black folks. The outcry was so great that Congress considered getting rid of the agency. LET ME START by saying that if I had my life to live over a thousand times, the one thing I would not change would be my race. I am proud to be a black man. There are times however, when I wish that certain people and I did not share that trait.

For the past few days, the whole world ... well, at least those who have access to satellite and cable television, have been seeing pictures of the virtually total devastation of the cities of the U.S. Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina. An estimated 90 per cent of homes in New Orleans have been destroyed by flood waters and more than 100 people have been confirmed dead.

We see people standing on the roofs of their submerged homes desperate to be rescued, others being airlifted to safety, and we have heard tear-jerking stories of families losing their loved ones. But in all of this, we have also seen the really dark side of black people.

The day after the hurricane passed, there were reports of looting but network reporters had been saying that people were looting out of desperation, in search of food and water. A lot they knew.

The pictures I have been seeing are of people - black people - stealing shoes, hair care products, jewelry, and television sets. Not basic food stuffs and definitely not bags of ice. Not unless the armfuls of clothing, shoes, and appliances I see people wading through the streets with count as food and water.

Now, if all the looters were looting out of desperation, how desperate were the guy and girls I saw toting several boxes of size 13 Nikes? How desperate was the fellow with the stack of diapers? What, is it that he has several babies at home suffering from loose bowels? What am I talking about, what home? Everything is under water and what isn't, has been totally destroyed.

And just what are those guys stealing the plasma television sets going to be watching when there is no power in the entire city?

Desperation? Yeah, right. I am beginning to believe that black people, no matter where in the world they are, are cursed with a genetic predisposition to steal, murder, and create mayhem.

The entire firearm department at a Wal-Mart department store, for example, was cleaned out and the looters used the stolen weapons to rob people. How low is that? Everybody is suffering and the black people would seek to rob people who are suffering just like themselves.

No white looters?

And it has nothing to do with poverty. Where are the white people in all this? I am sure there are poor white people living in New Orleans, Biloxi and the other towns affected by what has been going on. Is it that the media are not showing pictures of them looting and robbing? Or is it that they are too busy trying to stay alive, waiting to be rescued, and hiding from the blacks.

And you know what? Even if the poor whites were looting and robbing, wouldn't it be nice if the blacks could have made them the only ones doing it?

Just once, I would like for us blacks to take the high road in situations like this, where instead of showing our darkest side, we put our best foot forward.

But I guess that would be too much to ask, too much of a case of wishful thinking.

Brother Rich, I might have subtitled this the Destee.com appreciation thread. Most "black websites" are not black owned, and half of its memberships are made up of white trolls, people passing as black, and blacks suffering from self-hatred. Black voices is a prime example of this. Intelligent discussion because impossible in such a website, as does self respect. If you look at how this same event is covered by this website, and that one. The difference between a place built by us for us...and a place built not by us, but about us...become abundantly clear.

Finally all get to see what many of these people are made of. These people are animals. With all the looting, and raping, and stealing at a time of crisis, is just the acts of people who have no moral standards, and personally I dont call them humans.

These mostly "black men" need to be put out of their misery. Now I have heard of a woman being raped in the SuperDome, and for any man to do that **** is just plain vile, these people have spawned other creatures who are not good enough to be a part of a civil society.

There was NO REASON why the National Guard was sent out FOUR DAYS after the hurricane hit. There is also NO REASON why those people couldn't have been evacuated. Poverty is not an excuse in the so-called 'greatest' country in the world. The government should've shipped them off to shelters or those UNUSED MILITARY BASES in other states!

All of the other hurricanes that have occurred during the reign of Bush received at the very least adequate response. For Hurricane Charley, that ****** responded the DAY the hurricane hit. This is also the same with Hurricane Isabel, (which I was in, by the way... aside from not having electricity for a couple days I don't recall the mayhem that is going on in New Orleans). But guess what, Florida and the areas of Hurricane Isabel, Maryland, D.C., Virginia... there's a whole buch of rich whities that live here, people that take precedence in the mind of a Christian Conservative known as ******* Bush.

Here we've had 6 days of unending national attention and concern regarding the victims of hurricane Katrina and the resulting flood, without regard to race on the part of those who happen to be most victimised, and what is the reaction? Because the victims left behind and the region in general is disproportionately black and those most affected are disproportionately black, the predictable onslaught of black racist accusations have already started flying. We've got Kanye West lying about and bashing Bush for no reason other than Kanye's own racism and prejudice towards Bush. We've got people on this message board eagerly joining in with the bashing and the false accusations of lack of national concern and racism. I'm sure others will join in -- the usual suspects of Sharpton, Farrakhan, Harry Belafonte, Malik Shabazz, etc. No matter how much concern is shown and effort given on the part of white people across the country, by Bush, by the government in general, by aid workers, rescue workers, corporations, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseam, this imbecilic, delusional and despicable cries of racism and of lack of concern will rise. I just lost so much respect for Kanye West! I can understand his frustration; hell as a nation we are all frustrated and we are all affected by Katrina and her aftermath. But to take it to another level and air his personal feelings towards Bush took away from the importance of what they were trying to do for the victims of Katrina. That stupid *** statement that came out of his mouth just made an already huge *** negative light that shines on us even bigger. I am SO sick and tired of hearing how the black community has been treated unfairly ONCE AGAIN. Why does there have to be lines drawn anyway? The reason why most of the looters shown during the recent hurricane crisis were black is because most of the looters were BLACK. Try doing some homework on who receives most of the goverment help and look at the statistics. Blacks are the ones driving the Cadallics and receiving food stamps. While white rescue workers struggle to save black lives in New Orleans, black leaders have somehow come to the conclusion that everything is the white man's fault.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, NAACP, and black celebrities, congressmen, and senators are all inciting hatred against whites over imagined injustices. The fact is that majority white neighborhoods in Mississippi, that look like nuclear bombs went, have received little to no aid. Virtually all the relief effort is focused on majority black New Orleans. Whites in St. Bernard Parish were trapped on their roofs all week with no relief as every effort was used to save blacks.

Keep in mind that what happened to New Orleans had been predicted over and over for the past 15 years. New Orleans, who's leadership is majority black, did nothing to prepare for this event. New Orleans had over 100 school buses and hundreds of city vehicles that were never even used to evacuate the inner city poor. After Katrina hit, most of these vehicles were under water. In fact, New Orleans' majority black leadership did nothing to evacuate the black inner city poor.

Black leaders are silent, however, on the mass murder, mass rape, mass muggings, violence toward law enforcement, violence toward rescue workers, brutal attacks on whites, and general savagery. When the South Pacific was hit by the Tsunami, 250,000 died. The areas affected were extremely poor. However, none of the violence seen in New Orleans occured anywhere. No white tourists reported being attacked.

Enough is enough!! Since Black Voices is owned and operated by the internet's largest company (AOL), I think some action needs to be taken against them for allowing such racist messages on a forum advertising itself to black people!

Don't worry about those fools on BV, pan. Most of the people on there and AOL are white anyway, though you do occassionally get a black apologist once in a while.

It is an absolute shame how they let the racism and self-hatred run wild on those boards... especially if the CEO of AOL is black, (which I didn't even know). Whites might be able to hollow free speech on independently operated white supremacist websites. However BV is owned by AOL, it is a corporate entity. Thus the views and opinions allowed can logically be viewed as an extension of AOL's corporate philosophy. It makes them very much open to a boycott.
