Man, I hate it when somebody brings a challenge to me and I don't get a chance to read it and respond until hours later.

Makes me look like I got "shook up" or stunned into silence.

Unfortunatly (or fortunately) I have to WORK for a living and can't always stay up on thangs coming my way on the internet.

Am I the only one who feels that way?

Am I the only brutha who likes trying to be "quick on the draw" in my responses, especially in a heated debate?

trust me there are so many who hate missing the first punch
because of other life choices but in return to handle it is all as well too
i feel you on this i try but sometime we all fall short to this .

I know the scenerio: You've just written the reply to end all replies, then you go to bed for some much needed rest. Then when you wake up the next morning: You take a shower...eat some breakfast...then you turn on the computer, and log onto Destee.com! You look in the thread where you last posted, and the person whom you were debating with wrote another response that once again puts you on the defensive! You look at the time of the post, to see how long it has been there. WHAT?? Seven HOURS!! People are going to think I got rocked into a mental coma! That is the reality of internet forum debate my brother! What matters is not when you respond, it is that you respond.

P.S. For the record though, the majority of the people on here WORK for a living. Also Destee.com protocol is that if you don't respond within a week, you lose by default!

Yeah, but when you work for yourself, your job is 24/7.

it's that place that i stepped away from over 20 years ago `cuz i was always too close to losing my cool! :)

seven hours, four days, whatever: sometimes reflection makes for a better response, anyway.

Same here! I don't plan to ever be traditionally employed again!

Brother Ralfa'il ... it is a challenge for many of us, to fully appreciate the space between stimulus and response.

To react without much thought, can possibly have one responding in ways that are not consistent with their intent.

You know....

Bruthaz coming with that Shock-N-Awe spectacular that you just knew you could have just shut down if only you had seen it earlier.

You know what sis...

Sometimes when I'm in that groove, my first reaction is the best.

I'm not talking about just in debate but in real life situations, sometimes my initial gut reaction ends up being a response more brilliant than one I could ever plan.

Perhaps it's spiritual.

All

Oh well....I guess I'm just proud and competitive by nature.

How do you know that ... if you don't wait to see ... ?
