CAPRICORN THE GOAT...

Aqil
03-13-2001, 05:46 AM
Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac, which the Sun transits during the first month of winter, from about December 21st to about February 20th. The symbol for this sign is The Goat; its polarity is negative; its element is earth; its quality is cardinal; its ruling planet is Saturn, and on the human anatomy Capricorn rules the skin, bones (especially the knees), and the teeth...

The practicality of earth, the initiating energy of cardinality, and the sobering influence of the planet Saturn combine to create a nature that is oriented toward leadership and excellence. Capricorns (who include not only Sun-sign Capricorns, but all in whose horoscopes the sign is emphasized) are serious people...

The old symbol for Capricorn was a mythological creature with the head of a goat and the tail of a fish, an image that contains the idea of evolution: the long, slow, arduous climb of the animal man out of the primordial mud of earth upward towards the Heavens...

The idea of ascent is echoed by Capricorn’s rulership of the knees, which must bend in order for the body to climb. The Sun is also climbing northward when transiting Capricorn, for it enters this sign at the time of the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. Thus Capricorn is the sign of hope, ambition, and aspiration...

Capricorn children are in a hurry to grow up and assume responsibility. They feel a strong connection with older people, especially their fathers, whose approval they seek and whom they look up to as teachers...

As adults, Capricorns continually seek to improve themselves, whether by making more money, furthering their education, or choosing a spiritual path, usually one involving a discipline or where they follow the teachings of a master or guru. Saturn rules the limitations of the material world – especially time and space – and the Capricorn awareness of time takes the form of anticipating the future rather than living in the present. This makes them wonderful organizers and planners, but it sometimes limits spontaneity.

Contrary to popular belief – and the stoical influence of Saturn notwithstanding – Capricorn is not necessarily a cold sign, and its natives are far from frigid! All the earth signs are sensual (Taurus and Virgo are the other two), and once Capricorns overcome their anxieties about not being good enough and learn to relax, they can be lusty and imaginative partners!...

Capricorn females often have the type of classic beauty based on good bone structure that is often seen on the pages of international high-fashion magazines. Both sexes are often attracted to older partners - and are extremely capable of marrying for money and/or prestige...

Their most compatible signs are: Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio and Pisces; Leo, Aquarius, Gemini and Sagittarius are neutral; Aries and Libra may be difficult; and with another Capricorn there is often mutual respect. With Cancer, their polar opposite and complementary sign, there will be both attraction and tension. But ultimately, the question of compatibility can be answered only by careful comparison of the two horoscopes...

With their love of work, patience, and high standards, Capricorns can rise to the top of almost any field. With their understanding of money, power and timing, they have a natural flair for business. And with their intuitive sense of form and their tireless pursuit of quality, they can achieve wonders in the arts. Their fascination with the structure of the Universe may take them far into science (e.g., Isaac Newton), and their sense of responsibility may inspire them to assume the role of religious leader or even martyr (e.g., Dr. Martin Luther King)...

As the sign ruling government, Capricorn has a natural affinity for politics, and here we may see statesmen who devote their lives to their convictions, as well as ruthless opportunists who will stop at nothing in their compulsive drive for power (e.g., Richard Nixon). This sign is also associated with teaching, masonry, excavation, construction, clock-making, architecture, geology, mining, accounting, real estate and photography...

The colors of Capricorn are indigo and black, as well as the earth colors; its birthstones are the garnet and the onyx; and its day of the week is Saturday, which is ruled by Saturn...

The following are some prominent African-Americans born under the sign Capricorn:

Debbie Allen, Alvin Ailey, Muhammad Ali, Chuck Berry, Mary J. Blige, Julian Bond, Tom Bradley, Cab Calloway, George Foreman, Rickey Henderson, James Earl Jones, Dr. Martin Luther King, Cheryl Miller, Odetta, Preston Pearson, Sade, Max Roach, Calvin Smith, Donna Summer, Vanity, Denzel Washington, former VA Gov. Douglas Wilder, Tiger Woods, and DESTEE!

The Winter Solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its southernmost point - 0° Capricorn, 270° of celestial longitude, and 23° 27' south declination. It can go no farther south. The longest night of the year (Dec. 24th) occurs at this time. Astrologically speaking, this point represents the Sun's entry into the sign Capricorn, and 0° Capricorn is the most important degree in the zodiac. It is the galactic center of the Universe; the only point that is common to all perfect formations...i.e., The Grand Quintile, The Grand Sextile, The Grand Septile, and The Grand Semisquare...

Capricorn females often have the type of classic beauty based on good bone structure that is often seen on the pages of international high-fashion magazines. Both sexes are often attracted to older partners - and are extremely capable of marrying for money and/or prestige...with the quickness! :)

And with Capricorn the choice and worth of friends is far more important than having too many. Capricorn also believes that he who is ruled by time follows the greatest adviser of all...

Surfing the net gives Capricorn the sense of control that he/she needs. The problem with the Web for Capricorn is that it lacks structure, making natives of this earth sign feel vulnerable. Good search engines will allay the Goat's anxiety as they start climbing around - looking for information that will push them ever higher in their quest for advancement...

Finding the high roads to success will entice the Capricorn native to use the Internet. Knowing that the Web can assist them in pragmatically controlling their own destiny will be comforting to this solitary individual. Information is a very important tool to get ahead, and Capricorn knows this...

The anonymity of the Internet allows Capricorn to explore without feeling weak or ineffectual. They will bookmark websites that have clear structure so they can navigate quickly to the source of the information.

Being a natural workaholic, Capricorn can get lost on a foray down some canyon of the Internet, thinking he/she is "working," getting more information in order to better their life goals. Saturn, Capricorn's planetary ruler, likes to preserve and protect that which is already there, so sites that involve antiques, conservation of nature, and world monuments will satisfy the Capricorn soul. Here are a few sites that will assist the Goat in his/her endeavor:

My Life in Song...

And now, the end is near;
and so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain...

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every highway;
and more, much more than this,
I did it my way…

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do,
and saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
each careful step along the byway,
but more, much more than this,
I did it my way...

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
and did it my way…

I've loved, I've laughed and cried…
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing...

To think I did all that;
and may I say – not in a shy way,
"Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way…"

For what is a man…what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
and not the words of one who kneels.

The record shows – I took the blows…
And did it my way…

Yes, it was my way...

Here's another one of my favorite Capricorn songs...

That’s life, that’s what people say...
You’re riding’ high in April,
shot down in May.
But I know I’m gonna change that tune,
When I’m back on top in June...

That’s life, funny as it seems,
some people get their kicks,
steppin’ on dreams...
But I don’t let it get me down,
’cause this ol’ word keeps getting around...

I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
a poet, a pawn and a king...
I’ve been up and down and over and out,
and I know one thing...
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race...

That’s life, I can’t deny it,
I thought of quitting,
but my heart just won’t buy it.
If I didn’t think it was worth a try,
I’d roll myself up in a big ball and die...

More on The Goat:

Capricorn is a scholarly, intellectual earth sign that produces deep thinkers and philosophers. They are social climbers, and will be noted at gatherings of the upper-income brackets.

They are methodical in their actions, and they also have a thirst for knowledge, wisdom and understanding, which must be satisfied. The Goat (Capricorn's symbol) is an excellent organizer who thinks through his ideas in solitude.

They are aware of their psychic powers, and they do not divulge their knowledge for fear of being ridiculed. They have a certain seriousness that tends to be morbid. He admires success, and once attaining a certain amount, will strive beyond the mountain top up into the clouds.

The Goat is agile in his footing, and careful to avoid any pitfalls. He plods ahead, never deviating to attain his goal. He respects the wisdom of the sage; they are worried about criticism and opposition to their thoughts and ideas, and must be able to handle it more adeptly by patience.

A Capricorn is centrally oriented to gain further advancement. They are economical in financial matters, but tend to share whatever they possess with others. Their business sense is exceptional; they make good managers, bookkeepers, superintendents and accountants. Professionally, their knowledge enables to make excellent lawyers, teachers and lecturers.

The Capricorn is a born romantic, but he curbs his nature by discipline. His mannerisms might be brusque, and his unusual sense of humor is startling. They strive on compliments, although they'll never let you know it. He'll be embarrassed when he receives a flattering remark, and try to hide it by joking or ignoring it altogether.

The Capricorn female seeks both career and marriage, but uppermost, security. Both sexes have artistic abilities that include writing, painting or composing music.

Capricorn is a leader in his own right, and will emerge as such if he proceeds with caution. He has a gentle heart, and is a protector with his tough exterior...

Here is a Capricorn poem written by a Capricorn, titled:

'IF'

"If you can keep your head when all about you,
are losing theirs and blaming it on you...
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too...

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies.
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
and yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise...

If you can dream and not make dreams your master;
If you can think and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster,
and treat those two impostors just the same...

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken,
twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
and stoop and build them up with worn-out tools...

If you can make one heap of all your winnings,
and risk it all on one pitch-and-toss,
and lose...and start again at your beginnings,
and never breath a word about your loss...

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew,
to serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you,
except the will that says: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
or walk with kings and not lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much...

If you can fill the unforgiving minute,
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a man, my son!"

(Rudyard Kipling)

Thank you, YRH. The highest point in a horosope is ruled and defined by Capricorn...success being primordially a Capricorn function. Ambition is essentially an obstacle course, and the Capricorn symbol for the progress of that ambition is the sure-footed goat climbing to the top of the mountain. And as the slow, calculating, deceptively impatient mountain goat shows you the way...

May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand.

May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give you the strength to walk through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will always be there, even when you feel most alone.

May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace.

May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them.

Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending.

Teach love to those who hate, and let that love embrace you as you go out into the world.

May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them.

Remember, those whose lives you have touched and whose lives have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than the form.

May you not become too concerned with material matters, but instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart.

Find time each day to see beauty and love in the world around you.

Realize that each person has limitless abilities, but each of us is different in our own way.

What you feel you lack in the present may become one of your strengths in the future.

May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility.

Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.

May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, and not be dependent on another's judgment of your accomplishments.

And may you always feel loved...

Capricorn is an earth sign, but it has water energy. it speaks of ambition, focus, discipline, and the ability to manifest...ruled by the planet Saturn and the natural ruler of the 10th house - the mountain goat energy of the Capricorn speaks to sometimes slow moving, but steady rising to reach the top

Is the day falling on a Sunday, more significant than the other days of the week?Yes...because you were born on a Sunday, in what is called the "6:5:6-year cycle." In this cycle your 6th birthday fell on the same day of your birth, as did your 11th, 17th, 28th, 34th, 39th, and your 45th birthday. Your 56th, 62nd, 67th, 73rd and 84th birthdays will also fall on a Sunday...

The Winter Solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its southernmost point - 0° Capricorn, 270° of celestial longitude, and 23° 27' south declination. It can go no farther south.
