In other words, African Americans, this north Florida cemetary shows definite signs that our ancestors were still very much attuned to the Bakongo(Congolese)culture from which they came... Interesting that so much of our culture is being found in those segregated cemetaries... On the real tip, it kinda shows segregation to be not so bad... Hey, it preserved our culture...

I"ve had hunch about this phenomena happening in the south. It's very important that we keep them "alive"

fascinating and informative article..thanks brother isaiah...our little group always had a problem with integration...this is definitely one of the reasons..
so many sheroes and heroes who were names of schools and building got lost in the integration movement...oops..diffrent topic..not suppose to do that...but i still agree with you

Thanks, Sista Deepy, though I feel uncomfortable with receiving praise for simply bringing someone else's work to the forum... The real praise goes to the writer of that article... Our people are so doggoned deep, Sista Deepy, aint it the truth?!(smile!)

Peace!

This is why we need to look beyond the traditional view of west african origins and make a closer examination of the Congo Valley-Angola connection specifically as it relates to the MAROONS.

Brother Omowale, according to Molefe Kete Asante, and other scholars, Central-West Africa is the foundation of our culture in the United States, Brazil, and the english-speaking Caribbean. Everything I continue to read seems to more and more re-inforce that...
