BLACK STUDENTS ARE NOT APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

PARENTS, HEADS UP!

Even if you do not have a college-aged child at home, please share this with
someone who does, pass this scholarship information on to anyone and
everyone that comes to mind. Though there are a number of companies and
organizations that have donated moneys for scholarship use to African
Americans, a great deal of the money is being returned because of a lack of
interest.

No one is going to knock on our doors and ask if we can use a scholarship.
Take the initiative to get your children involved. There is no need for
money to be returned to donating companies because we
fail to apply forit. Please pass this information on to family members,
nieces, nephews, friends with children etc. We must get the word out that
money is available. If you are a college student or getting ready to become
one, you probably already know how useful additional money can be. Our youth
really could use these scholarships. Thanks!!

I am going to pass this on to my niece. She is extremely smart and has won alot of awards during her junior high/high school education thus far. She is a junior and has always wanted to go to college, so maybe she can find some info here that she didn't have already.

Thanks for looking out.

Yes brother Python..you deserve much credit for this info. The reason why black students aren't applying for scholarships, is because many don't know about them (unfamiliar with the process, unaware about the many types of scholarships, etc). It is criminal how many racist school counselors don't inform black children about this information...however I make it my place to, and am proud to say I've gotten a handful into college by doing so!

AHA! The Unied Negro College Fund turned me down when I applied for a Scholarship!

Unfortunately the United Negro College Fund can not send every black person to college. Indeed it is not even offered at all universities. For instance the UNCF is not available at Morgan State University. This is exactly why we need to do research on the types of scholarships available...the big names do not always match the needs of all people.

No......I am saying this because the thread said that BLACK STUDENTS ARE NOT APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS. They sent me a whole package of stuff to fill out, and I wrote the essay that they wanted me to right, and I got nothing back, which tells me that I did not win the Scholarship. I am embarrassed to admit right now that the only scholarship that I did get was a Presidential Freedom Scholarship from the the fools that BUSHWACKED us!
I am representing the US with that Scholarship, but as true as I am I am not representing my people with a scholarship? PISSES ME OFF!

Don't take this like I am complaining because I am not. With or without a scholarship, I am still going to earn those degrees, and yes, I said THOSE degrees, and I am going to do me and there is nothing that anyone can do about it.

Never be embarrassed by any scholarship you receive, take it...and take advantage of it!

I really appreciate your concern my brotha.

Brotha Pan, you are one of the main brothas on here that I pay any kind of attention to.

With that being said, let me continue on.

Like I was saying, Scholarship or not, I will still go on to college(s), earn my degreez, and make my name look as bright as knowledge. I am waiting on college education, and college education is waiting on me. I have too many great credentials - which are compelling me to excel them in college. I love knowledge, and I will get as much of it as I can.
