I've got a serious question. Do yall ever worry about someone stealing your uncopyrighted work when you post it here on the web?

Hi Nappygrl,

We don't have any posted rules regarding this (guess I need to do that) but the Poetry Forum(s) is for posting poetry only.

While some question/comment threads are started and allowed to remain, most will be moved to their proper category (the Open Forum if it doesn't fit easily in any of the other forums).

I didn't move your previous post asking about performing poetry live, but I'm going to move this one as I don't want others to start posting threads that aren't poetry.

Again, this is not posted anywhere so you had no way of knowing. For this I apologize.

i've had my copyrighted material stolen before and the violator of such actions suffered the loss of their job as well as many other financial burdens. I suggest that any marteial you post here be copyrighted or in the process of being copyrighted. A simple suggestions. Anything you post here you should place a copyright in the personal signature area... Taht way if someone steals it you can show that it is copyrighted from the date or posting. The advantage is that there is a date of each posting so you can use that for now until you can send them to the Government branch...

Sometimes I do, especially in the poetry forum. I'm sure if they plan on making a quick buck from your work, all you have to do is pull up the Destee archives and present your proof of rightful ownership. Personally, I visit white nationalist sites just to keep up with the word on the street, I do not register there though. It's healthy to be aware of what your :"sworn enemies" have up their sleeves.

If you post it on the web, unfortunately, it's fair game. The good thing is, once you post it here, you have a time stamped record of when it was done. We have had incidences in the past where someone ripped anothers poetry. It was exposed. And dealt with. But until your stuff is exposed.....

What I suggest is that any material that you post in a column or thread print out the pages and keep your own archives. That way, if your work does appear on a site by another author not only is your work time stamped by your host site but it's readily available to you instead of having to search back. And yes, I do make copies of post that I make on these forums along with the responses, usually threads which I author.

not really sure, but wouldn't including a copyright notice in one's posts, or sig, help with this?
