They've been friends for a while. I wonder if she'll overlook it. It may not mean anything to her. panafrica 10-10-2004, 08:57 PM Nicole is too busy trying to be white herself, so I doubt she'd be upset. I'm sure her reaction would be like Tiger Woods...I'm only 5.3% black, so it doesn't concern me! jamesfrmphilly 10-10-2004, 09:34 PM how can this be an issue? black people use the world all day long, every day. the hip hoppers have made it a point of pride to bring this world into common usage. how can you say anything when a white person uses the same word that black people use? fanyamambo 10-14-2004, 08:26 AM how can this be an issue? black people use the world all day long, every day. the hip hoppers have made it a point of pride to bring this world into common usage. how can you say anything when a white person uses the same word that black people use? As far as African Americans are concerned Paris Hilton could win the Ms. Irrevelant pagent hands down. I know no African Americans that care about her exploits or even find her attractive for that matter. When tv shows featuring her or Jessica Simpson come on those shows are called s.n.i.f.b.a.'s (shows not intended for black audiences). Why do we give this cave woman our power. Pay no attention to these ridiculous distractions. Honestly do we even care about what she said? This is absolutely true brother James! It is also ironic that a "brother" would be in a mostly black bar, yet looking at white women. This is like people who attend historically black colleges, and end up with the only white person on campus. I know their parents are like WTF?? Froggy1 03-22-2005, 02:06 AM So, Paris Hilton's racist? Who cares about that partygirl? She wouldn't say it to dudes face. I mean having a white person calling you the N word is like someone calling yo moms yo dads nickname for her. IT JUST AIN"T RIGHT. Then she goes and hangs out wit 50 Cent on Spring Break. With her crooked nose. Looks like her dad and a crow got freaky! I find that the "N" word as well as curse words in general show a lack of education. Their are much better terms that I can think of to use to describe how I feel or dont feel about something, someone or a particular situation. We need to remove the chains from our brains we are nation builders Kings and Queens and we should act as such at all times. I demand that excellence from you and you should demand that same from me. White people using the n-word, particularly those who are in the spotlight like that is never a non-issue. Yes, blacks should try to establish as much independence as possible from white culture, but when they do racist things like that it needs to be confronted. karmashines 04-01-2005, 03:18 PM I hope you don't use it then..because if you do..then you shouldn't get mad when white folks use it either..and don't use that "it's a difference" line. But there is a difference. Blacks use it as a form of jest where whites use it as a cruel racial slur/insult. Granted, if I had my way I'd like to see that word abolished completely from both black and white diction, but I do understand why some blacks have a double-standard when it comes to who can and can't use that term. I rarely say the N-word, when I have....I used it to insult someone. That word is an insult, it should have never been conceived as a term of indearment. The same people who are trying to tell us this are the very ones that have their pants hanging off ther @sses, think going to jail is a rite of Manhood, think having 5 babby mommas is cute, and wouldn't have a decent job if their life was on the line. We have to be careful about the values, attitudes, and behaviors we endorse! Pharaoh Jahil 04-02-2005, 01:46 PM Peace, For those who defend the use of the "N" word, try going to the deep South and justifying it to an elder in their 70's and 80's. We slap the face of our ancestors when we use this term. The European has created this term to damage the charater and self-esteem of our great grand-parents and now we use it as a term of indearment. That shows how backwards we can be. As for Paris Hilton, I really can't complain about her because if we have never adopted this term, then I bet she wouldn't have used it. There is no correct way to defend this word, it is wrong, period. This is one of the problems with our Community, we are thinking of ourselves as "N!ggas" instead of Brothers and Sisters. Peace out. panafrica 04-02-2005, 01:52 PM Peace, For those who defend the use of the "N" word, try going to the deep South and justifying it to an elder in their 70's and 80's. I agree the word is ignorant whether used by blacks or whites and should be abolished from all vocabularly. But, let's not pretend that maintstream white culture isn't aware of the difference blacks have placed upon the word. They are, which is why most educated ones won't use it in the presence of blacks (though they might use it in private around their white friends). It's also why when it is used by a non-black person, such as Hilton, it causes a media uproar. Even Hilton herself knew not to use the word around the two black mean she was insulting -- she did it AFTER they left. If whites are so innocent and using it simply because blacks are using it, then there would be no use in hiding. Let's not forget blacks didn't create the term... whites did, and its use was intended to demean their humanity both back then and now. The only non-blacks that I can see thinking using the word is okay based on the reasoning that blacks use it are those that use it in the exact manner as the ghetto folks that use it... a term of jest. This goes in particular for those who think they are inundated with black culture because they like hip-hop. Paris Hilton, did NOT use the term that way... she didn't say, "What's up, my *****," (which is the use I'm referring to)... she had called the two black men "Dumb *******," behind their backs. Pharaoh Jahil 04-03-2005, 10:22 PM Let's not forget blacks didn't create the term... whites did, and its use was intended to demean their humanity both back then and now. [/B]. Exactly, so why the hell do "we" use it? Even if the average Brother or Sister in the hood uses it as a term of indearment, it's still humiliating. Now as for Paris. I'm not excusing her in anyway but I won't make an up roar about it because regardless if we use it in a different way, it still makes us look foolish as a people. Now when a European uses it with a racist connotation behind it, we want to start a riot. They most definitely have no right to use the "N" word but we don't either. I could see if we never adopted the term, then I would understand your argument but I can't take us seriously in this case because if we as a people were serious, the "N" word wouldn't be in the African's vocabulary. YellowLime 10-24-2005, 05:28 PM really? so what does that make all the black people who use the "N" word? I personally dont use the word but at best when place people do it they are reclaiming it and stealing from it the power that it once held--that is ideally- but now I hear young kids using it and I feel that it just reveals ignorance. No, I'm not surprised Paris Hilton is racist. But-then again-I honestly dont care about what goes in or comes out of her mouth :) Deepvoice 10-25-2005, 01:19 AM Can any American white person honestly say they haven't used the n-word? I would think not. Why would any of us be so surprised. I know this is old, but it was said that Eminem use to call his black girlfriend an n-word female dog(the nasty term). We need to stop the use of n-word definitely around white people and that's for real. $$RICH$$ 10-25-2005, 01:33 AM Deepvoice i agree , we need to stop the use of it point blank but we have accept it and speak it so freely now til it's like part of our culture or something ....i'm not surprised at all.. |
