I've heard a few ladies state this a few times
that this a man's world ??? how so and what makes this a man's world ??
what do you all think hope to hear from some of the sistas who feel it is.

personally i don't think so !
if it was we would have more understanding and unity
and we all know that most cases behind a good man is a great woman
I am a strong believer of this quote.

now i seek the truth behind these sayings is they real or a myth?

"This Is A Man's World???!!!"

That all came from those white hillbillies who believe in taking over weak white women by doing anything they please.

That's my opinion.............myth or Not!

Actually Rich I've heard some men say this too, and felt that it should be. We live in a male dominated society...white male dominated, but male none the less. The head of government, the ceo of corporations, by and large, male. Even in our language, the way we talk to one another...When a male wants to insult another male, really take him down a few pegs, what does he often call him?
I think it is wonderful that you believe that behind a good man is a great woman. But there are those that feel if a woman shines too brightly it somehow diminishes a man's luster. Now, I do not feel this way, I think a bright woman enhances and compliments her man, but hey, that's me. Good topic Rich.

James Brown thinks so! :D

But seriously, I don't think this is a "man's world" per se. I believe that it's a world that's dominated by men who have greater political influence than women in most cultures, particulaly modern western cultures.

It could be dominated by white men. But Black folks put in the work for our resources. Am I the only one that knows that if black Folks stuck together we can practically Head the Government? and such? Women give birth to men, so they should be getting some kind of credit. Men in this world are so strong, they will die doing what they believe in. Black women are just as strong. James Brown is a singer, not a influential character. Let him sing. Just like the phrase says: "Don't sing it, just bring it." Does he back "it's a man's world" up? White believers get over on their white women easily, so they can say it without having to hear a sistah's voice. Let him prove how much of a man's world it is to the sistahs. Not saying that it isn't a man's world, but like Queenie said: "it's a world that's dominated by men who have greater political influence than women in most cultures." Anything is possible.

No way is it a man's world. Maybe back in the day, but now orginization cater to women. The justice system is bias to women. Laws are more harsh for men. Men have to tip toe and be very careful about what they say and do around women in the workplace. Women have the power in marriages now. That's why it's not beneficial for a man to marry unless you're 100% sure it's gonna work out. Politically, it's a man's world, but none of us common people know anything about that part of the world apart from what we see on television. No, it's not a man's world. Not even close.

I think this is a male dominated world. Only in the last 100 years or so have women really made steps. In the Western World, anyway. In other countries, other cultures, the people are matriarchal (sp?). This country/society is patriarchal (sp?).

The justice system is sometimes biased, that depends. What about during a rape trial? The victim, often a woman, is still often treated as if she is the one on trial. I don't think men should have to tiptoe around women in the workplace, but they shouldn't be able to say whatever crosses their minds either. And we are affected politically whether we know much about government or not.

Well I don’t think it is so-called “mans world” but all well see it different in someway.... women run companies,as do men, women can and do support the family, as do men….The only thing a man can’t do is have a child…
but help in raising them.

I think it’s a myth and only invented by the western culture
For their controlling needs within the government.

I see what your saying Watz. As far as the rape trial though, as seen in the Kobe case...you have to see where the woman's head is. Women will lie about being raped because they might be bitter that a man doesn't want a relationship other than sex or they might be lying for other reasons. I agree, it does make it hard for women to feel as though reporting it will benefit them, but men have the right to have the so-called victims personal life as a factor unfortunately in order to get the fairest trial possible. With the workplace, men should not have the greenlight to say whatever, but men don't even have to say something directly to a woman to get fired or have action taken. If a woman hears something that offends her (whether he said it to her or not) that's his *****. On the other hand, women talk just as dirty as men on the job, but no one says anything regarding that. If they did speak up people would just tell him to "man up". I know that we are affected by government, but as far as government positions and things like that, we really aren't involved first hand. Well, some might be, but not many. Nor do I want to be.

I think it is a mans world. And women are nothing but pawns on chess the board of it.

If we think globally it is a man's world, because men hold most positions of power. Also many societies still do not view women as equal. If we think locally (the United States), women are gaining more power daily. However the 5% who hold 95% of the wealth in America are mostly men.

I don't think its a man world at all. When I think about why men appear to be dominate, I think about the many wars that men have fought to protect their women and children.

I think about the conquered people who despartely try to find refuge for their women and children. Yes, a man appears to be at the head of it all. but is he really?

A women is the teacher. The one who nutures and raise men. The one who men are supposed to provide for and protect. Why is it this way? Because its all about keeping the lineage alive. Through her, reproduction is conceived. Through women the creator has bestowed upon her the incubation of human life.

When I think about the beginning of man and woman, I think about eve being the first to eat from the tree of knowledge. I wonder was it really eve being defiant to the creator or did she actually step up to the plate in honor of the creator. Because through her, the circle of humanity thrived. And the creator blessed her with the ability to bring forth new life.

So is it really a mans world or is it a man protecting a women in a world that doesnt want to acknowledge her importance. Not that she is more important than men, but she chose to bare men through her womb from the beginning of time, it's indeed and important factor that set the circle of humanity in motion.

This is just some of the things I personally think about, when I think about whether or not this is a mans world.

very good point purplemoons !
when i think of it as a man's world i still look into facts of a woman worth
indeed their are more men in power, political power , head office power
but in the work forces we have a greater amount of women who are ahead
by footnotes and just as strong , with corp. power for it to be a man's world
why is the base of life through a woman who is the home bound raiser of men
who teach man and give forth knowledge to man , is it that men run over women
to gain these powers because they feel less stronger to men , those who hold
the wealth do look upon women to be less or weaker as well in the gov.

Even on a chess game beside the king sit a Queen with power too
i feel men is stronger to be of protection to our women but to call
it their world i can't see clear because a woman makes a man !
the worth of a woman is greater then the eye can see or man may know
without a woman their be no man ! watch out for women live they moving
upward faster then we know and holding power equal to man even in
political arena, they showing signs in areas un-noticed just look around they
say man is the power to rule the world, so it's a man's world !
sure from the western days but it's only a myth to me , did you know for
every man theirs five wo-man i have to get the real numbers on that again
but it's said to be true , I don't think this a man's world but is powered by
man with the minds and knowledge of a woman behind the man .

How do you really know if eve f-up Brother Kente? Had she not chose to eat from that tree, You might not even exist. Besides, the fact is that she was the first to gain knowledge. So don't under estimate her purpose.

Excellent points Brother Rich!

It can be a mans world with a Queen. You just have concubines and wives, like my man Solomon. You do not need a Queen to rule. I prefer them 300 wives and 700 concubines versus a Queen anyway.

But then he suckered up and Fell for Sheba LOL.

Is the Bible actually being used to either defend or denounce whether this is a man's world? :look: Is there an implication being made here that the world was "created" for men (gender) to rule? Men's rule over the world is a Biblical edict and will always be that way? So, the power and authority to "rule" is inherent in man's nature and not learned through the socialization process?

I've lost the thread to this discussion....

This is the bigger picture many refuse to see. However, it is slowly changing.

I think its a white mans world
If we look at it in some ways
From a corporate perspective
Yet I see more woman
Mainly Sisters in general in top roles now
I see woman in general now heading big firms
So I say this is a changing times a coming
In some aspects might be a mans world
Yet the Independent woman is fast on the rise
