MANASIAC 08-27-2004, 07:58 AM They just be hatin. Plain and Simple.
toylin 08-27-2004, 11:22 AM Hmm... at the risk of starting a war here, I believe that we Black women distrust White women for trying to be like "us". We live a double standard. See, we've been taught for so long that to be White was to be beautiful (there are still people in my family that do that dumb paper bag test), while at the same time, we (secretly) admire other Black women for reclaiming their roots. To see a White woman do what is supposed ot belong to us burns us up inside. We have internalized the "white is right" rhetoric while at the same time clinging to the African roots.
I hope that sense.
To conclude this before I make a complete fool of myself, it's just one of those things. Most of us are scared to "go back" but we don't want to see anyone else do it before us. WE don't think White women have the "right" to braid their hair or whatever, but we call blonde hair and blue contacts "the style" or we say we're doing it to be "different."
Okay..because to me im like..what the hell..it just confuzzled me (confused..and puzzled)..
jazzymoonchild 08-27-2004, 04:01 PM Most things have been stolen in some form from blacks, so when I see whites copying the style of dress or hairstyles, speech or whatever, I chaulk it up to what has been happening for quite some time now. I'm not offended because they do not change who I am. They are trying to assimilate with us. (in my view) whether they realize that or not.
atomicangel 08-28-2004, 03:33 PM i agree with toylin.
personally, i dont care what a white girl does as long as they know where and who the styles came from i.e. black people.
as far as white women with our black men, i dont really take any notice because it doesn't really affect me. i've got some white friends who date black guys as well as whites, so maybe that's why i'm talking like i dont really mind.
:smokin:
But Isn't that stooping to their level.....two wrongs dont make a right..just my opinion
NNQueen 08-30-2004, 08:47 AM Not ALL Black women react the way you describe Sister Nisa. Some might, others don't care. Those who might be bothered by white women sporting braids and hanging on the arm of Black men may be due to the nature of racism in this society. Some sisters are bothered by it and some might say they have darn good reason to be. Why would some of these sisters wear perms (and I thought the Hilfiger incident was proven to be an urban myth)? I think it's a personal choice for the most part, but maybe for some, there might be some racial identity confusion involved as well. Those who might not be bothered by "the white woman syndrome" are making a conscious effort not to be, which I genuinely believe is driven by racism as well. Some are stuck in a certain mindset and others are trying to move on in spite of it.
Brother Manasiac, I don't know that I fully understand what you mean by just "hatin'" plain and simple, but I'm sure you know as well as I that racism has had a profound impact on Blacks and it runs deep within the conscious and subconcious minds of most of us. Whether we choose to dislike white people or not dislike white people, I believe either way the decision is consciously made with racism taken into consideration.

Thank you Sister Queenie...I was sincerely starting to get worried as I read this thread.
You are salvation... and your name is becoming... :spinstar:
Thank you for raising this discussion to the level upon which it deserved to be addressed. :grouphug:
Your response spoke of my own sentiment...
toylin 08-30-2004, 12:25 PM Well, you know, "hatin" as a shortened form of "player hating" meaning, we "hate" = envy those who have/are doing what we don't/aren't. (Just giving a general meaning brother Manasiac.. not trying to put words in your mouth.).
That said, most of us can probably say that we raise our eyebrows, but in the end say "moe power to them" if they can pull it off. As a race, we spend much more time worrying about what others are "doing" to us than worrying about what we are doing to ourselves.
bigtown 09-01-2004, 02:01 PM WHITE CHICKS LIKE THAT WERE PUT ON THIS EARTH FOR ONE REASON. TO BE TOTALLY IGNORED BY BIGTOWN!
THAT'S MY "BIG" OPINION.

blklespoet 09-02-2004, 04:18 PM ok I know about the weaves, perms, and blonde hair, but I never seen a sister with blue contacts so I guess we are from different places. Well I don't really care if white women want to copy our hairtyles, I personally take it as a compliment. But everyone knows that everything black becomes the style anyways.

Hello Sister Nisa ... Welcome to the Family !!!!
I tend to agree with Sister Queenie ... not all Black women feel as you've described or are doing the things you've mentioned.
But for those who do and are, i'll move out of the way so they can respond!
Much Love and Peace.

keishal 09-20-2004, 03:55 PM I can't answer for everyone else. My problem is because of our black males. I've encounter several black males who ignore us black women and always put us down by saying that we have attitudes and that we don't know how to treat them. If they stop and take the time to get to know us, they will see that us black women are strong and have a mind of our own. We all want to be treated just as fair as the white woman. Is that too much to ask, I don't think so.
QUEEN ABENA 11-09-2005, 02:59 PM IT'S A LIFESTYLE NOT A HAIRSTYLE!!!!!!!!
I've seen em wit locs, braids, twists, even afros(how they do it i dont even know)
my thing is when they "stumble" upon something that's "cool" or the "in" thing to do, they take it and run wit it.
Bo Derek has been praised and bowed down to cuz she was a white girl wit some braids
BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I see white girls wearing Royal Headwraps and rockin African American tees & things I sure do go up to them and politely ask "what does those colors or symbols mean to you"
their response " uh i thought it was soooo coool"
HUH?
It's way beyond just being cool!!!!!:bam:

preach....
i think it's more than that though...
it's like.... there was a time where they took everything but our style... they stole our land, beat us to a pulp... and now they wanna be like us
??????
doesn't make any sense at all..
but on the other hand, we feel it's aight to do it because we ain't done nothin' to them. we're just takin' a lil' bit of their culture... and making it ours..
sure, it doesn't justify anything.. i think it's absolute B.S. but...
it's life.
they do it because it's cool, and we do it because it ain't nothin' compared to what they stole from us... just my view on it....
it's entertaining though, watching our women go around being like "oooh girl, that a new weave?"
ooh yeah psssht... whatchu think?"
patting it to make sure it dont' fall off... lol.
"ooh i got the good hair!"
honestly...
twisted world.
ok continue with your regular programming.

nevar 11-20-2005, 06:21 AM first of all let me just say that i love everybody. no matter what culture done to who. thats is why so many children black and white play together. because they dont know they cant play with the black children or white children. come on people. i have a grandfather is people was white. our last names are from the white man itself. so no i dont hate on girl because she wears black styles. it just let the white race know that there race whether they wants to admit is down with it. where i'm from there's alot of mixed race we don't say ooo look at them. we say oooo what a beautiful child. because were all the same in god's eyes. i don't feed my children negativety. i get them fat off the positivity. if they choose a different path then i did. i'm gonna love them the same. not trying to get off the subject but dont forget thomas jefferson confess his love for sally. and had kids by her. its not a secret that back in the day white men would sleep with the black women and allowed their babies to suck on the women. so i don't understand how they would do all these terrible things and allow a black woman breast enter their mouth. and thats how i feel some wants to be down with the black culture. because somewhere some black person used to work for them and got them hip to it. and therefore born a lot as i call it cultural cross-swapping. this is only my opinion.
panafrica 11-20-2005, 08:47 AM not trying to get off the subject but dont forget thomas jefferson confess his love for sally. and had kids by her. its not a secret that back in the day white men would sleep with the black women and allowed their babies to suck on the women. so i don't understand how they would do all these terrible things and allow a black woman breast enter their mouth.
This view of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings "relationship" is both highly romanticized and historically inaccurate. I think you need to re-examine the dynamics of this pairing, and the conditions under which it occured. You should also study Jefferson's many negative statements against the physical & mental inferiority of the black race, and his role as a slave holder. A geniune study of this will help your understanding of the role of the black mammie as well!
nevar 11-20-2005, 08:57 AM of course he didnt want to go down a negro lover. do you remember watching this special that oprah did some years ago. about the love affair between those two. and some of the family members stated from stories past down that indeed he did love her. of course what you do in the dark isnt the same of what you will do in the light. he had to keep up his image to his fellow countrymen. but behind the closed door politics went out the door. im sure you spoke to him plenty times on why he would say things that are mean to her race. i betcha he said image baby.

You can't be serious Nevar! Your entire opinion on this story is based on an episode of Oprah? Jefferson was far from a "negro lover", he had nothing but contempt for black people. Thomas Jefferson was a slave master who sexually exploited his female slaves...nothing more, nothing less! He behaved in the same manner that millions of other white slave masters did. The denial of Jefferson's white descendants reveals the true nature of his relationship with Hemmings (and the children born from it). The man was not powerless, he was the president of the United States. He had to power to create change...the reason he didn't was because he did not want to. He viewed Sally Hemmings as a sexual plaything!
The modern revisionist attempts of white society and black integrationalist to turn the millions of mulattos born as a result of rape & sexually exploitative relationships into the "love children" of forbidden relationship is nothing short of insulting (to us and moreso to our Ancestors)! Having children with a person doesn't necessarily mean that you love them, it means you had unprotected sex with them, and got pregnant as a result. The thousands of rape victims in the Sudan can testify to this, as well as rape victims in the Congo...not to mention the millions of baby mommas & baby daddies in America who can't stand each other!
I know there always will be people who love others more than themselves. For those blacks that want to forgive white people of their multitude of crimes against us, it is there right to do so. However I can’t help but notice that those blacks who feel this way have to either: (1) Pervert our historical experiences with whites, or (2) Ignore our history altogether, in order to forgive them. Doing this obviously makes it easy on the part of the black person to be altruistic, and certainly it makes white people feel better (absolves them of blame, responsibility, and reparations). If you can't acknowledge what people have done to you...it is impossible to truly forgive them!
Destee 11-20-2005, 09:51 AM its not a secret that back in the day white men would sleep with the black women and allowed their babies to suck on the women. so i don't understand how they would do all these terrible things and allow a black woman breast enter their mouth.
Sister Nevar ... Hello and Welcome ...
You said "white men would sleep with black women" ... no Sister ... "white men would RAPE black women"
You also make it sound as though the white men allowed the black women to nurse his children, that she had as a result of the rape ... no Sister ... he would have the black women nurse his white wife's children, with the white wife right there, agreeing with these acts. Black women were forced to do this, nurse white children at her breast, while denying her own child that nourishment.
I started a thread about this somewhere here, long ago ... or i at least mentioned my complete bewilderment and abhorrence to such an act. How do you hand your own new born child over, to nurse at another woman's breast?!!! Not just any woman, but the woman you hate and mistreat so much! You let your child nurse at her breast!?! I will NEVER understand this. I think it speaks volumes to their lack of Spirit and Love. It is non-existant, if a people would do such a thing to their own. Would you let your baby nurse at your enemies breast?!! When you can feed them from your own body?!! Oh My Gosh!
We talk often here, of the natural order of things.
That is NOT the natural order of things, and it is very telling.
I don't know what blasphemy is, but that surely seems like it would qualify.

Wow.
I have to disagree for the simple reason that my great-great grandmother had to do exactly what you mentioned while raising eight of her own children fathered by "massa".
I am sure she did what she had to do to survive and I would not be here as a result if she didn't.
God bless my ancestress Louisa Lightfoot May!

DesteeWhen I read your comments, that's what I thought you meant.
Panafrica is so right. Ask anyone who thinks racism/white supremacy is non-existent or who want to forgive White people for what they've done to our people...Black people...and you'll find that they want to forget all the wrong White people have done or relegate it to mere nothingness...as if it was no big deal at all. They should be ashamed of themselves to utter such words from their lips. :nono:
nevar 11-20-2005, 01:28 PM i don't know what anyone was taught but i'm from the south. and i have personally talk with ones who grandparents experience it all. first of all i meant that if white men didnt like us why would they allow their so-call pure children suck from a black woman breast. i didnt mean to spark a flame. yes they were women that were rape and then there was some that consented. some did what they had to do to feed their children. this is still going on today. i'm not saying lets dismiss all the suffering the black race endured. but i like to know what is blasphemy. god say hate the act not the person. if your brother wrong you seventy times forgive your brother seventy times more. how can you say i stand for jesus in the same breath say i hate white people. each and everyone of us has our own opinions and i'm speaking from what was taught to me. and no pan i didnt get all my info from ophrah. i'm almost sorry i went down that road. remember vengence is mine or donot return evil to evil because vengence is mine. alright church bombings even though it took along time to seek justice. didnt the man get convicted. all the injustice that was done before us are now seeking justice. it is not our will to take matters into our hands. i say let it be because my god will come right on time. i come from a very religious background. and i been taught to love one another. i hate that all had to suffer to get to where we at today but do we appreciate it. no because if that was the case 3 weeks ago i wouldnt have witnessed a shooting, or why is our own kind robbing one another, or why is our own kind raping one another, why are our own kind wants to see us fail, or why are own kind stab us right in the back. i worked in a convenience store and you know what he told me. he said that all black people belong in the field, and that all he have to do is sit back watch us n kill ourselves. first i was appalled and shocked that he would say such a thing did i get up and beat him no. i said sir i'm sorry you feel that way but jesus love me for who i am. the black people around just walked out. see my mamma told me never to respond to ignorance. if you respond to ignorance it will lead to trouble. but if you let him keep on talking and you leave he wont have nobody around to spread his ignorance to. i'm sorry sincerely if i offended anyone. my family has a mix of indian, white all throughout my family. some of our traits are wavy hair, light skin, some blond hair natural and could pass as white people. now does this mixture sounds like someone was rape no my family was consentual. i'm not going to hate my grandparents before me for mixing outside the race. i love who i am and wear my color proudly everyday. i couldnt help what i was born into, but i'm glad love is all in me. and to destee in our family when the world get us down we go to church. to seek salvation to get a better understanding on what god wants from us. but i have a scripture in mind that i would like to share on your comment about blasphemy. matthew 12:31 it says on this account i say to you, every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. pharisees said jesus was speaking blasphemy because he said he was the messiah. plotted to kill him and did. jesus even prayed to his heavenly father saying forgive them for they know not what thou has done and they didn't. until he took his breath then they realize he was the true messiah. so if god can forgive man for killing his only begotten son why cant we look past the evil and forgive. because if god really wanted to end it all when his son was killed we wouldn't be here today with our luxuries.

Never should any traumatic experience be forgotten. Once these acts are forgiven, then swept under a rug, this leaves room for the next great atrocity. I bet if the system PAID out pain & suffering, they'd think twice before putting such evil on others. They sure tell us they hate us in so many ways everyday. Sorta like they're programmed to do so. I don't believe in "vengence is mine".
PoeticManifesta 11-20-2005, 05:55 PM I get mad cause black women can be born with any color hair in the rainbow... with any skin shate in the world.. from Milky white, to coco brown...
A white man can have 200 kids.. and theyd all be white....
we cant say the same for blk folk!
As far as the permed hair goes.. iove seen black women with naturally straight hair...
we can grow it!
Ive seen em with nappy hair...
cause we can grow it...
Braided hair is part of our legacy... our heritage..
something that we pass on how to's from generation to generation..
they got everythihng else.. why the hell they gotta braid their hair too?
I dont care they got a black man,
cause the way i see it.. is
most white women have the black men that we didnt want in the first place!
How many times have we heard the brothas say.. well yall dont want us, dotn know how to treat us.. ever thought it mite be true? *smile!*
And baby phat,
man that line is made for all women.. god knows Kimora Lee aint all black,
and the d.n.a results aint even back yet.. on what exactly she is...
but the way i see it... from a sista who dyes her hair dark cause i cant stany my sandy brown hair.. cause it always looks dry or dirty...
we can do what we want.. cause no matter what we do... it belongs to us..
we invented it!
In the beginning there was Alpha & Omega..
We were the beginning of mankind.. n white folks gunna try n end us!
:maddd: I just have a question. Why is it that black women get mad when we see a white woman wearing braids or have a black man on their arm, or rocking baby phat.. While we are here with blonde weave, blue contacts, wearing tommy hilfiger...getting perms...I don't get it..someone help a sister out...it would be appreciated. It is rumored though that Jefferson had a fraction of Black blood. Back in those days, if you were 1/64th Black, they regarded you as so, unless it was not so obviuos. 6 generations washes the Black blood away easily. I read this passage online somewhere: The Four Black U.S. Presidents. However this is nothing to brag about. I saw a photo line-up of their descendants, from dark to white. Good grief

In another culture, I'd say you are absolutely correct...unfortunately in the US, being family oriented only means your immediate family. Once married that becomes your spouse and children.
spicybrown 03-17-2006, 07:51 AM :maddd: I just have a question. Why is it that black women get mad when we see a white woman wearing braids or have a black man on their arm, or rocking baby phat.. While we are here with blonde weave, blue contacts, wearing tommy hilfiger...getting perms...I don't get it..someone help a sister out...it would be appreciated. If yall dont get mad just tell me why.. Thanks again
provoking thread!! I don't get mad. It's just that some of these WW "discovered" the key to our pizazz, and like to throw it in our faces, as though we didn't invent "the ish". Seeing how there is so much competition between BW and WW, they feel they sort of have one ^ on Sistas. The same when a Sista gets a long weave, and colored contacts. We try and invade each others sacred ground it seems. This flaunting happens especially when they rock a BM on their arms. I was in COMPUSA last night, and this BM/WW couple were shopping. I guess the WW wanted to make her IR presence known. She was doing any and everything to get my attention to her. I refused to succumb to such foolishness. She walked by me and brushed my shoulders without saying excuse me. Instead of going off on her,I hinted to her man that he needs to watch her, and most pets need to be on a leash or in a cage. They both were dumbfounded :happens:
cursed heart 03-17-2006, 08:57 AM All of it makes me mad!
Now if you were black and naturally born with blonde hair and blue eyes that's different!
Especially when white people break their necks to be us but hate us!
From the collagan in their lips and store bought a$$es,from their suntans, silky straight braids and phony ***** dreads, from their change in their accent when they talk to me,from them chasing our black men because they have a mandingo dream, or the brothers that wanna be anything but black and struggle, they whether be with a white woman cause somebody told him white is easy, fluck your history she's better than you and me!

Why does this make you mad??
Why not just ignore it cause getting mad
Wont do anything but work up your blood pressure
Not just you Sis but i notice alot of people
Get mad about these things we really have no control over
Why cant it just be if that person is happy and what they choose
To do is just what they choose to do...

jgyknowledge 03-22-2006, 03:24 PM The thing that is funny to me........
Of course there is some truth that white women want black men. The real truth is that, the majority of white women ain't paying no damned attention to us black men. I've been to mixed clubs before and didn't see nor experience this new phenomen that we all seem to subscribe to.

I see it sometimes
But not that often
I think it is blown up loud on here
The thing is brother its so many brothers
Out here looking for a good woman
Instead of black woman worrying about
What a white woman is doing with a black man or vise versa
I think the focus should be on how to keep
The person you have happy regardless of there race
My personal opinion
spicybrown 03-22-2006, 03:29 PM It's everywhere in my neck'o' the woods. I could careless. But when the same sex, other race gets nasty with you, because she knows her mate is your natural counterpart, it gets sort of personal then. I don't take disrespect, as stated in post #36, but you can't love the men/culture/race, then turn around and show disdain for the other 1/2 of it(BW)
jgyknowledge 03-22-2006, 03:40 PM I feel that!
