I love this forum. Its therapeutic for me. I'm in denial that I'm a hopeless romantic. I'm intrigued by just a sun rise. I watch and locate the moon everynight. I also look constantly at the stars. I enjoy running water, small creeks and brooks. Fascinated by the power of the ocean, and the wind whispers. I walk in the rain. I post for me. Just to get it off my chest. Cause it is here. I like to deal with issues of relationships and the family (parenting) situation in the community. I see too many problems that aint being solved simply becsause people dont like the solutions required or dont like to admit that their way is wrong. I am outspoken on many issues and this has sent me into serious battles sometimes with over 10 people at once. We will have to see if this place is actually different than that becuase alot of black websites aint nuthing but a popularity contest.

I work full time at a hospital and have the best working relationship with my boss, but I also have a catering business and do parties when the mood hits.

Hello all... A friend slipped me the link to this site just a few hours ago, and I've been in here tripping around since! This is the most dynamic poets forum I've joined in YEARS.. and I've been online since 98! I'm a mother of two sons, ages 22 and 16 the oldest in college on a full football scholarship, soon to finish his bachelors (fingers crossed!) My youngest wants drivers license of course, so he's anxious to get behind the wheel of my only car! I've been writing since Freshman year in college.. took a course about poetry .. only made a C.. but that never discouraged me! Poetry writing is also my therapy, I write to document my emotions (highs and lows) and I've even published a chap book of erotic poetry "Divinely Dowanna, Memoirs of a BBW" capturing a time following the end of a 17 year marriage and a voyage into a life of independent thinking and self-discovery... and ohhh what a ride! I joined destee when I was in school or rather I should say on leave of absence from school. I was sick and couldn't really do too much so I needed to vent. I typed in African American poetry and I found destee. I been here ever since....

Well before my immature behind at the time got mad becuase I wasn't getting replies.(I had a nerve I barely showed others love) Any way I had alot of my work posted I even had about 2 or 3 spoken peices up but I took them down. I took time to grow and really look at things and now I'm back. Very changed. I used to be a whiner :lol: Khasm listened to me all the time. Baby how did you do it? :lol: But I've changed drastically so those of you who are just meeting me. Yall are lucky. I'm nothing like I used to be.
Ummmm. what else? oh I know I'm 20( soon to be 21 in 2 months 10/29 to be exact), I started writing when I was around 12 or 13. I started performing when I was 18. I write because God has blessed me with the strength and courage to speak truth.I used to write for my self but I right to send a message I have no children, I'm single (Thank God) and I love destee.

Some one asked me how I got my stage name (which is now Poetic Soul Sista) so I'll explain. Before I joined destee my name was Nubian. Loved that name but it never stuck. No one remember it but when I started posting on here and I told people about the site everyone started calling me Poetic-Soul-Sista So that's it. Destee.com gave me my stage name. I never thanked yall neither so I say.....

Hello ALLLLLL!!!! I'm Royal_T and I've been around for about a year or so now at Destee.com...I love it here. I don't always drop in as much as I should, so don't talk about me.

A lil' about me. My real name is Tosha...yes Tosha spelled with an "O." I live in Evanston, IL the first suburb (and one of the largest) north of Chicago. It's the home of Northwestern University (Big 10). I graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Communications...(other alumni include Michelle from Destiny's Child, Syleena Johnson, and the black dude from Girlfriends...) I only know and love the first two.

Anyway...enough of that noise. I'm single with two kids...they are my biological sisters. They are 8 and 3 and talk about a learning experience. I still can't figure out how people have kids on purpose...raising babies is no joke, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Ummmmm what else? I'm a sports nut and I watch Bill Maher any chance I get. I love to laugh and I love culture and the history of one's culture. I have a large family. I've been MIA for awhile but during that time I have been working on and accomplished my goal of getting out of St. Louis. I accepted a job with my previous employer's competitor and that brought me to Knoxville, TN. So far I am loving it. My next goal is to learn a second language. I feel that becoming bilingual would be an asset to my career. But in general I have a lot of goals and I am not going to stop working on them until I get them accomplished. Hey Family...!
Well my name is Melanie and Im 16. I'm a true down south country girl...lol...I live in Norfolk Virginia. Im a junior in high school. I have a beautiful boyfriend by the name of Jermaine ( im sure u guys have read something about him by now...lol) He's truley God sent, just for me! Ummm, at the moment, Im a model with Barbizon Modeling Co. This has truly been my dream come true, though it took a long time to get here, im glad I have arrived ! I'm also in trade school majoring in interior design and decorating. Im not sure if im going to make this my career or not because I'm also into the culunary field, I do alot of cake competitions with my school system and some that are annual held by the city of Norfolk. But what ever i do, just know im going to make "BIG"..lol..! As far as my personality, I'm a very free spirited person, my attitude is kinda care free. I love to just live my life to the fullest, enjoying every moment that God has blessed me with, whether it be a good time or a bad time. And hopefully all this shows forth in my poetry. I like to think of myself as the "juvenile poet"...For the simple fact that I just started writing poetry like 3 weeks ago. And im not even sure what sparked my intrest to even start writing, but i just began to write some things down, that at the time, didnt even make sense to me, but when i finished, I let my friend Chad (Hisili) read it, and he told me about the Destee fam, and suggested that i join and post it. And ever since then, Ive just been a poem writing/reading fiend..lol..But I just hope that i can tap into my true poetic side like i see that many of you have learned to do. Well, i think i better stop now, Ild hate for yall to get the impression that im just this girl that never stops talking...*winks*...lol

My motivation is to realize compleat Freedom,Equality,Justice and Salvation for Black People particularly African-Americans' even if it is Dreams for now. Everything starts with Dreams, nothing starts with out first Dreaming it. Every thing starts from within and then is realized in the physical world.

About a week ago I sat at the computer with a Dream to find a website
worth my time, I punched in <http://www.Blackpeople.com> and found "Destee". So you see dreams do come true if you believe and go to work. Right away I could feel the powerful Spirit of this place I now call home.
Even though the reality was already here and unknown to me, as far as I am concerned "Destee" is right out of my Dream. (Do you Believe?) :shades: Brothers and Sisters, "Then Free Your Mind"

i'm wayne, from/in the pacific northwet. i was born on (the original) rosa parks' day (the first of the last of the double nickel - 12/01/55) so kinda feel like my life's work is sorta predefined ... inasmuch as "free will" and "predestination" work together.

i'm 49 and planning to finally "step up to the plate" for my fiftieth birthday since i figure that's a good round figure to get started at. since i'm only one/6+billionth of this particular segment of This Earth, i'm not gonna be able to do it all by my lonesome. i hope to generate some discussion around the stable-orbit-to-cold-core big picture that we share existence with.

(it ain't about having been too lazy, shiftless or good-for-nothing to get up and go to work. it's just that, given the state of things as they are today, the methodology that has been used to date for everything suggested to me long ago that much more study is required before thinking of "settling down in a career". so, this year i'm "graduating" and "putting together my resume".)

frankly, i've been a very lonely person, and i'm hoping that i can find some like minded folks to kick it with.

Hello family, I just went and read all of the prior intro's and thought that I should add my own. Better late than never. Mama gave me the name Darryl, I chose 1poetsought, because I am constantly in search of the poet within. I found my Destee home while serving America, while stationed in Naples, Italy. It's been my home ever since. I love the creative environment provided here; it permeates my soul. The talent here is amazing, so many gifted people in one place. I wrote my very first poem as a result of words I had with a dear friend. I was struck by the extent to which writing the poem provided relief and a sense of healing. The year was 1982, and I've been at it ever since. Of course, Destee.com is about more than poetry. It is a community of learning. I encourage eveyone one here to help build this community. I don't think that should exempt me from having an opinion, but I know when to keep my mouth closed about things I know nothing about. :x: I just really want to gain knowledge and see how others percieve the world in which we live. Peace. I think it is wonderful to finally find a forum with brothers and sisters of like mind and being. The overwhelming number of meaningful posts here is really encouraging (5% isn't as small as I once thought it was).

I currently teach 5th graders and often approach the relative dilemma of "should I be teaching them this?" But forums like this one help to get in the habit of evaluating, but never questioning the intuited instruction of The Most High.
