Brothas...

If there was one thing you wanted to let your sistas know above all else, if you had the oppotunity to tell them one thing that would sink in for the rest of their lives, what would it be?

This is a fantastic question AfroBoricuaRoni. After much thought, I ironically decided if I only had 1 thing to say to sistas...I would tell them the same thing that I would tell a brother: Never place limitations on yourself, and do not let anyone else place limitations on you. Go as far in life as your talent & ability will allow. Remove all obstacles that can distract or remove you from your choosen path.....judge people by their actions, not their words.

That was a thorough response!

Sometimes we go on in life thinking that what was easy for us to understand and learn was easy for the rest of our people to realize; half of the time they don't even know what we know. That's why it's vital to our survival to share; to reach back and help someone else just like someone reached back to help us and take the time to educate each other. That's the motive behind this thread.

Like when you're watching the news and you see something that happened to someone else and you think, "Dag, only if they knew that blah blah blah..." This is what I think when it comes to seing Black and Latino fatalities on the news and all there of. So that's why I ask if there was one thing you can tell a sista (or a brotha) that would be key to their survival to say it here and now, and everywhere else for that matter.

My messge would be relationship related........I would say:

Black men are individuals, just like you. What one or even alot of black men mave have done, CANNOT be taken out on ALL of us.

Black men are humans, just like you. When we get laughed at, rejected, lashed out at or talked about in our presence, we feel like *expletive-I-aint-allowed-to-say* and our self esteem takes a beating, just like you.

Black men are neither superior, nor inferior to you. Therefore you should never expect MORE of a black man or LESS of a black man, than you would of YOURSELF.

Black men STILL love black women inspite of an stupid stereotypes, rumours and lies out there about us.
