Destee

Hello Family,

I'm a single parent (divorced for 50/11 years) and i have 3 children. A son that is 26, a daughter that is 19, and another daughter that is 10 (we adopted Destiny, which is where "Destee" comes from).

So i've been in this parenting role for a long time and have made many mistakes ... but God is Good and all is well! :)

Looking forward to this forum and all that it can do for us.

Thanks again Sister PurpleMoons, for suggesting it!

I can't even imagine going thru something like this. I know you say you are alone, but can you seek help thru the nation of yahweh, it seems like they should be able to assist you in this since this is the religion you believe in and have served and followed their laws???....smh, I just don't understand...smh
Please keep us posted, let us know how things tun out.

Sister Bithyah!
I'm sorry to hear that you are going
through this.
I thought it was legal to teach your
children at home. I myself is considering
homeschooling my children.
There are a few web pages that tell you all
about homeschooling. Just search it on the
web. It even says that their is no specific
time of the day that you school your children
day, Just as long as you meet the time requirements.
Check the sites out Sis and I pray that there is
someone here that can give you some suggestion
on how to get your children back.
Please someone! Come share your knowledge
in this matter.

Sister Bithyah! I'm sorry to hear that you are going

Although some laws might vary from state to state, to my knowledge it is legal to homeschool children. In fact I have known many people who have done this throughout the years. It would seem that the Division of Youth & Families Services objected to how Bithyah was raising her children according to her religion. DYFS usually acts off of tips from counselors, teachers, neighbors, or family members. Since Bithyah's children were not going to school, more than likely a neighbor or family member reported some type of "believed" abuse.....which DYFS apparently agreed with.

If you want your children back Bithyah you'll have to pull out all the stops. As Nita said contact your church, and ask them to speak on your behalf. Write letters to DYFS, local newspapers, TV stations, draw attention to your case. If nothing else attention might attract a lawyer who will work probono for you. Good Luck.

There is no law against homeschooling your children, I have always homeschooled my daughter, and the school have too supply the material that I need for each grade. Yes, you do need to look into this. I wish you all the best.

Well BithYah you me told that you stayed in Florida, and in our state it is legal homeschol children. I think you may have to consult the local school board about the Red Tape you have to go throught in order to get things going. I have included some links which should help your endavour madame:

http://www.fpea.com/Guide/GuideMainFrames.htm

http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=FL

My Mother Homeschooled my brother in Alachua County (Gainesville, Florida). So I know you can do it here in our state I have also included a link with the some legal information regarding Homeschooling in Florida.

I hope this helps.

PS - Does this make me a Hebrew :-)

Also the child that is 17 cannot be homeschooled if she or he has never been homeschooled before.
The Law states that if the child has never been homeschooled from the ages of 6 to 16 they are not eligible after their 16th birthday, but they can if they were homeschooled before that 16th Birthday. The Legal link will provide more help with this.

I am glad they are zero because children = Expenses and overhead I do not need :-).

You really have nothing to be insecure about, since I been out of school (a long, long time ago lol) things and times have changed therefore the work these kids have today didn't exit back them. as I stated, eariler, they have to supply the material and if there's something that you don't know, the books will explain everything to you. Besides...I too am learning more everyday different things...so for it.

Doesn't your nation? kingdom? have people for you to contact if you need help with things? My aunt is a member of..... Hebrew Israelites? And I remember when she came to visit (she lives in Israel) she had to go through all these channels to be approved. Isn't there anyone? A leader? And, what exactly is the problem, if you care to share? Maybe someone here can contact you with what they know........

Oh YEAH!. But see, I was the silent avenger. I'd get them secretly. I would do other little things to get back at them and they would never know that I was behind it. One time, I peed on some red hots and gave it to my second Brother. I told him that the reason why they were wet was because I had just got finished from washing my hands. He fell for it and ate them...At the time I thought that it was a great idea but when I think about it now he could have gotten sick from it.But I still find it funny as hell.
