Learning how to tie a tie is one of the rites of passage for manhood....yes I learned many years ago. I would be happy to show you Destee...but this is something learned in person...not online. Do you need to know for your son?
Destee 05-21-2004, 08:04 PM That is so good Sister QueenTswana! I shooda guessed that you would know! :)
No Brother Pan, i don't need to know for my son, he's 26 ... lol ... but the po' chile shole had ta learn on his own! So sad. *sigh* ... nawww ... this came up today, with my nephew (5 years old) and my Brother wasn't here. So it made me ask the question to the Family.
Thanks for responding.

My husband is 28, and still can't tie his own tie. I tie it for him. My dad taught me how to tie a tie when I was in high school (he had no sons... and I was the tomboy growing up.).

QbanMami 09-28-2004, 09:58 AM :playball: Oh yeah!! My papi made it look so fun when I was a littlun!! He showed me when I was 8 years old.
1hotvirgowoman 11-16-2004, 07:11 PM I started to tie Ties at the age of Three- for reals!. I would watch my Mom tie all my Brothers Ties. Then I'd go in my room and practice until one day I had it down Pat. :lift:
Hopefully the information that follows will be of help:
1)Put the tie around your neck(for practice), make the diamond piece a little longer than the skinny piece
2)Take the piece with the diamond shape, cross it over the other to the left once, keep your hand on the base of the tie as you cross the diamond shape over again.
3)Take the diamond piece and bring it up and out. Viola!
I hope that this helps you, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

There are two ways most men wear their neck tie. First there's the Windsor Knot and then there's the Double Windsor Knot. The Double Windsor Knot is the more symetrical of the two and the I will explain.
1. Place the tie around the neck, fat end on the rightside of the body, the seem side facing the body, staggered in length with the fat end longer than the skinny end.
2. Take the fat end and , going underneath loop it around the skinny end to form a single knot. Note the fat end will be on the left with the seem side facing out and the skinny end will be on right. The knot should look like a small triangle.
3. Take the fat end , with the seem side inward, and loop it in front of the knot and around the rightside loop around the neck and tuck the fat end down through the knot and pull tightly.
4. Adjust the tie accordingly. For a smaller knot tie the tie closer to the skinny end.
This should take all of 20 seconds when the technique is mastered.
Peace & Love
