Actually it felt quite sad to write it...and I think it came from an undestanding that it may be possible that we may not see each other again...something niether of us know for sure.

We are all here but for the twinkling of an eye...and yet we take so much around us for granted, especially ourselves and those we come in touch with.

As I sat to write this...I thought to myself, suppose the shoe had been on the other foot ? It actually pained me to write this, because with it came the realization of his reality and pain.

You're right, we may not know what we mean...but isn't it good to mean something and to know that you mattered. If you mattered, then so did they.

This was such a touching poem as it reminded me of when I met my good friend twenty-five years ago and just a smile from her avoided me from taking my life. I'm sorry for your friend and as you say you never know what's in someone's heart.
