Death

Death creeps in like a chilled wind
in the middle of the night
Consuming all life within its path,
taking away souls shining light
It use to be that death claimed the old
but nowadays death has gotten Bold
Acquiring a taste for young souls
Everyday he gets stronger
playing with a hand that never folds
Every time claiming victory
Billions of souls throughout history
Some say they've cheated death
But you see,just it wasn't your time
So Death let you be
For Death can NOT be cheated
No matter what tricks you've up your sleeves
Your petty taunts and brushes with Death
Shows signs of a mental disease
I try to figure out Deaths motive
and the reason for the souls he choose
and why sometimes he proudly shows himself
or like a thief in the night
stealing away your wealth
See Death has stolen from me
Many friends and family
One day don't you see
That Death will come to conquer me
Maybe then I will understand
the reasons why Death takes
Why sometimes the just and the good fall prey
But the Hell raisers seem to stay
Just who is Death
and what is Death
Does he show himself
on that final breath
Do you work for God
On the Heavenly Payroll
Or do you work for the angel of evil
or are you just neutral
I want to know how you were formed
How your existence came to be
and who was your very first victim
and who will be the last victim you will see
So many questions for you Death
My mind continues to ponder
So many answers I don't know

Just wanted to put this thread out here.
Death is always around us
it has been here for many years
and still we know so little about such a mysterious thing.

This is interesting, Nita. And scary, and mysterious, and awesome....Why this person, and not that one? Why someone so young? So many questions surrounding this. I do think you see that tunnel of light, but beyond that???? This was a very thought provoking write, and well posed.

Nita, I got chills just reading it. I wonder about that too. I have lost so many friends and family member it is countless. This is a nice reality check, because no one knows when it will be their time to go.

Death is a mysterious wonder, and though many like myself are hesitant about experiencing it; apart of me can rejoice at knowing that death is not the final chapter. That one must die a physical death in order to live eternally in the presence and love of my wife/savior Jesus Christ!

MyTlita, I got chills just writing this piece.
I wanted people to see and really think about this thing called Death. You're righ, no one knows their time, that's why death seems to find so many of us slippin.

I think not too many welcome the shadow of death, but in reality, it is NOT the end. There is a place that our souls are trying to reach, in that place life...eternity

It came about as a thought and I grabbed a pen and this is what was produced.
