Soul

Do you stay true or does your soul have a price?
Is it for the money, the glamour, or all the ‘ice’?
Most will deny their weakness and sacrifice
Their essence if the buyer sets the right price.

Is your price acceptance from the masses?
The very same who will stab you in the back when the glory passes?
Laughing and pointing in your face as you begin to fall
Back into the hot water where all the ‘crabs’ continue to stall.

Stall, remaining in a state so stagnant
Constantly bickering, nonstop raving and rant
Stay down, ‘keep it real,’ they loudly chant
Raise the expectations, still they scream ‘We can’t!”

Your soul, is it for sell?
Ask me, I’ll reply “no way in hell”
Keep it locked tight, in my hard shell
My soul peers at the world through the smallest of cells.
