Presents

an evening with WILLIE PERDOMO

We invite you to come and treat yourselves to a night of electrifying poetry by the man described as the unofficial Puerto Rican poet laureate; Mr. Willie Perdomo. His verses about poverty, class, racial identity and recovery come with a devastating and streetwise voice.

Mr. Perdomo will speak about and read from his upcoming work entitled “Smoking Lovely”, the follow-up to his highly acclaimed “Where a Nickel Costs a Dime”.

Willie has the lyrical intelligence of a Miguel Pinero combined with ferocious wit of a man who knows about being of color, being between two languages and being poor. His verses sing, howl and they will heal. Smoking Lovely has been described as a dose of Jim Carroll’s Basketball Diaries and a Billie Holliday song with a Miguel Pinero chaser. Please don’t miss this special event.

Hey Taino ... Welcome! I don't know if you've been told before, but only poetry is allowed in the poetry forum. I've moved this thread to the " Planned Events Forum"

Posting non-poetry threads in the poetry forum is against our forum rules.
Much love to you
Peace

[Thank You; However Willie Perdomo is a poet; a master in spoken word and I just felt that the community should be enlightened.

Taino Ti,

Sorry, I missed it. I bought Willie's book when it first came out. Are there going to be any OTHER upcoming events?

Your brother in the struggle.

... Go to urbanlivez.com, Taino... we're more open to raw poetic vibes there ...Brother DadaChango69 ... i'm not feeling this, you continue to direct folk there, while you remain here. Is this your purpose for being here? Those that don't want to be here will leave on their own, you don't have to invite them to go.

It wasn't even like that, I just knew what you DIDN'T ALLOW. But, no problem... it's off.

Thank you Brother DadaChango ... but Taino's thread, this thread, wasn't raw or any such thing as that ... it was just put in the wrong forum and Sister Blue moved it and told him that.

Brother, it really has been a pleasure getting to know you thus far. You have a sweet, warm, cuddly, inviting, kinda prickly feel, all at the same time! :) i love it! Looking forward to all that the future holds.

Happy New Year!
