rayh78 11-10-2003, 09:25 PM I was suprised my post were deleted from this forum for offering a different view point.
I can only guess the administrator was scare the people on this form could not back up the views or carry on a debate.
No problems will ever be solved between people if are afraid to dicuss it.
But I guess if the problems were ever solved owners of this forum would be out of business.
Nia Maishani 11-10-2003, 09:41 PM Rayh78, would you mind elaborating? Are you sure your post was deleted? If so, I must let you know that if it was deleted, it was not because of your viewpoint, but perhaps the way that you stated your opinion. There are rules in this forum, that we all must respect and adhere to, and if a rule is broken in the way you composed your post (using profanities, slander, personal attacks, etc. is not tolerated), then it will be deleted, and rightfully so.
The Adminstrator/Owner of this forum is not getting paid to provide us with this forum (not by us, the users, anyway). I think you should re-think your last statement, because this forum is about so much more than problem solving; it provides entertainment, education, and free expression & sharing of artistic talents, just to name a few of the other reasons we congregate here. So even absent of an arena where we can discuss resolutions to problems that plague our community, this forum would still provide many of us with other reasons to come here.
I am hopeful that your intention in coming here is to share your unique viewpoints, talents, personality, etc. in a positive manner with like-minded folk in a family-oriented atmosphere. If that is the case, then welcome. Hopefully, your adverse initial impression was nothing more than a simple misunderstanding.
Destee 11-10-2003, 10:19 PM Rayh78 ... trust that if we did not want you to be able to post here, no amount of telling folk to read your posts quickly would help ... for they'd never be allowed to be added. You might want to keep this in mind if you choose to continue to share your thoughts with us.

My post were deleted sometime monday after posting and staying on over the weekend. I do beleive the post were in line with the rules, like other post on this forum.
I was looking for a place to discuss both side of the issue to try to understand it more. I usually only hear blacks and whites telling just their side without responding to the other. I can’t discuss with my black friends because it seems to make them uncomfortable and me to sometimes in case it gets into a heated debate. I can understand because their is usually more enjoyable things to discuss.
This will always be a hard subject to solve. But you must start with hearing and understanding both sides. Then you have to find some middle ground, make some changes and carry on.
I think there are and will be much bigger issues to solve in the world. I think we are just a little spoiled in America compared to rest of world. We always just want more. Most of the world’s population would just be happy to have what we do.
You have starvation, still reports of cases of slavery, war, aids, rape murder, things that are killing people now. I am always amazed when a reported case of slavery in another part of the world goes unnoticed in the back pages of the paper. But the race issues get front page news.
Every group of people just wants what is best for them. We need to look at what is best and fair for all in this country and treat everyone the same. Then only maybe we can help out the rest of the world. Sometimes think if all the adults would shut up the kids would have a better chance. They do seem to get along better than previous generations.
Anyway, when all else fails think of God and Peace.
uzoka 11-11-2003, 08:13 AM Well, I don't know about you brothers and sisters but that brought a tear to my eye.

The 68 gruesome pictures Allen displays in his New York exhibit show black men and women being burned, dragged in chains, roasted alive and dismembered while whites crack jokes and mug for the cameras. According to official NAACP figures, between 1890 and 1960, 5,200 blacks were burned, shot or mutilated by lynch mobs. The horrid death toll is almost certainly higher, since in many cases sheriffs and local officials didn't deem the murders significant enough to report.
Federal officials still argue that it is the responsibility of local officials to prosecute these crimes. They will not intervene unless there is a compelling federal interest. But they've never bothered to spell out what that means.
Destee 11-11-2003, 09:36 AM Uzoka ... i've edited your post above, removing the property that belonged to Asad Ismi, as you did not include their permission for it to be posted here. This is one of our forum rules. Thank you for sharing but infringing on what belongs to another is not allowed here.
Rayh78 ... are you Black or White? You didn't say in your post but you did mention that you have tried to address (race) issues with both Black and White folk and it often leads to discomfort and debate. Which race you belong usually decides what side of the argument you find yourself. They are very different places, this is why i ask. At any rate, this community is not necessarily for Black and White folk to come together and try to work out the ills that have plagued them for hundreds of years. No. That has not happened in my lifetime or in the lifetime of any of my Ancestors and that's not what we're trying to do here. This community is for Black folk to come together to heal, console, and build the Spirit, confidence, determination and love between each other. This is our goal. If interjecting your thoughts hinders this effort in any way (in our opinon), you will be considered in violation and your posts removed. We don't owe anyone an explanation of why we move, remove, edit, or delete posts but we are a respectful folk and may provide such information if we are inclined to do so. Again, i don't know if you are Black or White, but if you are for loving, encouraging, embracing, teaching and building with Black people, and your posts reflect that, you are more than welcome to stay and continue sharing with us. If not, your stay will be a short one because we are serious about what we are doing here and will not let anyone upset the peace we've been blessed with just so they can discuss issues they've not been successfully able to discuss other places. This is not a dumping ground. If you have a desire to reach the goals you've mentioned, where White and Black folk come together, etc., perhaps you should start a community with that goal in mind. I'm sure many will join you there. In the meantime, respect what we are doing here.

rayh78 11-12-2003, 06:17 AM rayh78 I deleted your first two posts, that garbage you posted wasnt worth debating or even responding to, that filth you posted was a waste of anyone’s resources, like it or not this is a Pro-Black site and we welcome opposing views, not that disrespectful rhetoric you chose to post, if that’s all you got, then you are on the wrong board, also anymore of that vomit from you may result in you being banned altogether..
Yes must be wrong forum. Hard to find people willing to debate both sides of the issue.
I dont think it will ever solve anything if you are just willing to listen to and discuss one side of a problem.
But I do think it is great that you say this is helping blacks heal doing it this way.
Last visit here and good luck .

HODEE 12-11-2003, 06:00 AM I have heard from other people that that the moderators are quick to erase threads and ban posters, without explanation, when posts do not meet with their particular opinions. I am hoping that this is not the case, as I view this board as one of the more well maintained, informative ones on the net.
Perhaps if the moderators would create a post that is specific in your limitations for subject matter and make it "sticky" that posters would be more inclined to stay within those guidelines, if only we know how far we can go. I believe one moderator stated that a certain post was filthy. Isn't that up to the reader to decide? We do not all have the same definition of what filth is. And in a country where it is difficult enough for Black people to be treated with respect, shouldn't our freedom of speech be respected by our own people?
I know myself, if I come across a poster, on any board, who's way of writing or subjects is loathsome or offensive to me, I steer clear of that poster's threads. But it seems to me that they should be able to write whatever they want as long as none of the board rules are broken. When we start to censor the thoughts of others, we are in danger of creating a facist type of existence. If it starts here, it will spread to other places. Soon we will all be walking on egg shells with fear in our hearts and afraid to speak on anything less the people in control should put us away.
The president of the U.S. himself is very close to naziism with his declarations of "all who oppose the U.S. will be dealt with" speeches. We have the jews with their anti-defamation league trying to make anything negative said about them, a breach of the law. We have the BET message board kicking off Black people, left and right because they dare to defend their people, while the race mongers and agitators are allowed to remain and insult Black people as much as they want.
It seems to me our country is starting to do a flip-flop in policies and rights. There is a prophecy that states, in the last days, wrong will be considered right, good will be considered bad etc. If we start going down this road, it is inevitable that we will self-destruct.
Column
I don't think we are heading for any censorship. On BET if the posters gave up, responding to negative comments. Refused to post on the board. Shareholders would reconsider the matter.
I have pretty much given up my viewing and posting on BET.
" I know myself, if I come across a poster, on any board, who's way of writing or subjects is loathsome or offensive to me, I steer clear of that poster's threads. But it seems to me that they should be able to write whatever they want as long as none of the board rules are broken. "
Aren't the defending comments on BET breaking the rules, BET said they would establish rules to bring respect to that forum. They haven't done so. They oten break their own rules. I know of the constant pleas made to the administration over there. For a while they cooperated.
This site doesn't allow the put down. Nobody is infallible, but we us the guidelines established by Destee, and do our best to be open minded and fair. If we find a post offensive, we do have a obligation to act on it. A point can be made. Without centering or focusing in a extreme negative way.
I read in the eighties a article that told of these times. In some instance it is a plan put into place by some with great influence.
It isn't hard to get the crowd and mob acting up. Then the lies. Attacks and name calling starts. This always happen too when a Republican is in office. Racism and Republicans seem to go hand in hand. Recall 1992. Who was in the white house when the Rodney King case took place. Recall 1981 who was in charge of the white house.. I have seen my worst times with that circle of friends. They say we have no case for reparations. I disagree. These injustices ( still happening today ) are creating victims that have valid cases and damages. We are fighting for the slave days. What about today's injustice.
It is all the same. Stop it once and for good. No more quasi -laws.. with expiration dates attached. Treatys and clauses we know they never have honored. ( the forked tongue issue ) A hand -shake that pulls you close, and the other hand shoving the economic and health knife into your back.
I never saw the post that got deleted. I'm sure it must have been due that. We won't allow a BET mentality to develop here. You have a lot to contribute. We all do. This is a place to work on that plane.

Greetings, Hesaid. Here is a link to one of many sites that display those photos and postcards: http://www.musarium.com/withoutsanctuary/
"Without Sanctuary" is the title of the famous book that contains a compilation of those famous photos. You should have no problem finding a copy at your local popular book retailer.

Destee 12-12-2003, 05:39 PM ...I am still trying to understand what the guideline is for what can be posted here and why is it not in writing.Hello Column of Smoke and Welcome. We have had, and still have, quite a bit of transitioning going on and our Forum Rules (http://www.destee.com/forums/rules.php) got lost in the shuffle. There's not an available link to them on the page, and i'll fix that soon. They really need to be updated as well.
In regard to what is allowed here, no one has a right to say anything they want in this community. If you are in violation, in our opinion, it will be addressed accordingly. Every situation varies. Relax and enjoy. If we have a problem with anything a Members says, they'll be the first to know.

Nia Maishani 12-13-2003, 03:21 AM If I might offer just a bit of clarification for ColumnOfSmoke...
The comments made by the poster who LEFT (he wasn't banned from this forum) was basically a bunch of stuff about how Black folk always whine about their problems, and blame them all on white folk, yet everytime white folk try and establish their own living space, here come the porch monkeys, and when the white flight occurs, the apes come swinging through on the perfectly trimmed vines, right behind the white folk. The poster was a caucazoid.

Destee 12-17-2003, 05:55 PM CurrentCase ... Hello and Welcome. Nothing i said was in jest. I mentioned above that our forum rules (http://destee.com/forums/rules.php) need to be updated, but they stand as they are and will be adhered to by all. The update would be nice but is not nearly at the top of my list, as the changes are few and slight. If you have a problem with the way they stand now, you might want to find a community where the rules are more to your liking.
When it comes to maintaining the peace and harmony found in this community, nothing and no one is spared. Such situations vary and are oftentimes resolved based on the individual circumstances. Of course there are blatant rule violations that don't take much thought in how we resolve them.
No one community can be all things to all people. It is my hope that the majority can relax and enjoy themselves here, and most do. If you cannot, i'll understand.
