Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your patience regarding the upgrade of our forum and move to the new server. It appears as though we will be moving tomorrow and/or Tuesday. I spoke with my support folk and they've assured me of this time frame. If I don't get it I will be one crazy Black Sistah! ... hehehe ... nawww ... for real though, they've been wonderful to me.

Now I'm going to try to explain what has to happen:

1. support says they are ready to move the database
2. i will disable this forum - you will not be able to read or write to it.
3. the database will be moved to the new server
4. i will update dns information so that destee.com points to the new server
5. once that info has updated, the forum will be up. this could take 24-48 hours ... but usually requires about 12. This will be the downtime we experience.

The only areas on destee.com that will experience any down time are the forums. This is because I don't want any posts added after I move the database to the server, allowing us to pick up right where we left off.

Keep in mind that we do have http://www.destee.org/forums to hang out in during the downtime.

question: What happens to the posts once the change over is complete?

Afridancr ... all of the posts will be coming with us. When the forum is disabled, it will be copied and then sent to the new server. Once the forum comes back up again, we will be exactly where we left off. Lord Willing.

Sherykah ... anyone who has a desire to be a moderator may do so. i remember when i first started hosting chats, it was a black entrepreneur chat and i had never been an entrepreneur or hosted my own chat. i've found the only real requirements for such positions are a willingness to learn the topic and the ability to engage others. Of course having some veterans in the mix is a good thing ... whispering to the techies ... come out come out wherever you are!

This is a great time to invite anyone interested in being a moderator (to any forum) please let me know. You may also suggest new/different categories/topics.
