View Full Version : Black Women : sistas and their egos

MORE

sistas are the most double tongue species ever created! i get so sick and tired of watching sistas claim all this "all for one, one for all attitude," this love peace and happiness, bull they pull off only to find that it's really only about them or the people in their CLICK.
sistas, especially if they know how to read, and got a paper sayin they can , will go to any extent to throw their weight around, and in the process show the height of their ignorance by not being able to be objective and being more interested in showing how much they "think" they know rather than being what they claim, loving and caring. sistas make me sick being so fake, and it's usually the ones who pretend to accept EVERYONE, AND LOVE EVERYONE etc. it's all a bunch of hype.. too ill for my taste:eek:

MORE ... Hey Sister ... ... it's good to see you!

We all certainly have room for improvement, but the key to our success is not to give up on each other ... for if we give up on each other ... we give up on self.

It's not about what others are or are not doing. It's about what each of us as individuals are doing to promote harmony and to help our people move to the next level.

If we'd focus on self, how we can improve self, how self can help our people, how self can display the type of love and togetherness that our people need ... in spite of what others are doing ... in spite of how difficult it may be sometimes ... in spite of the fact that most say we can't do this ... if we would simply focus on self ... and what self brings to the table, to help reach the greater goal, to unite our people ... we'd not have a whole lot of time to focus on what others are or aren't doing ... and ... we may inspire some to begin helping in this same struggle, checking their egos at the door.

I'm really glad to see you back ... you have a PM (in just a sec).

i feel ya on this ...........indeed it's happening
it's misleaded misguided directional myth
many sistas need the light shine upon them and
we have to teach them what's real not fake

I,m opened for any advice on personal growth. However, I can't help but to notice the struggles of my mother and fellow sister's.The tears she cried and the barriers that bound her. I grew-up with two parents. But it was my mother who held it down. Don't get me wrong when I say this, even though I loved my father, He had'nt a clue to what needed to be done to maintain a family. My mother did the worrying, She did the laboring,She did his job. Not because she wanted to but because she had to. I recognize my sisters struggles. I am proud of their accomplishments. So if expressing this love for my sisters is considered egotistic. Then so I shall be. Much love for the unity of sisters. Brothers give each other props all the time.
But when Black women do it Is false, ignorant, and a tad bit over bearing. I don't have no college degrees, but I know that I,m proud to be a black women whose not alone in the struggle. It's nothing personal.

;) sista these days are more interested in living white then living
natural. Everyday I watch young women stress over there hair, nails and other fake items they have on. Me I love living the natural way being able to love myself more along with respecting myself more with out the stress.

I see your point there is a growing trend of AAW pretending to be all that and a bag of Pringles, but this may be in response to what Black Woman have been put thru, all this time you all have been used for sex by slave owners and then by the Black Man. pimpt buy the system and scorned buy the media as an anjamima. When you see music vids of Black females it is always something sexual not respectful.
Black females try to stick with there Men that go to prison only to get kicked to the curb when freedom is at hand. Black Woman have always been the back bone of the Black family and always the one to sacrifice the most without even a thanks so its no wonder that you see a breakdown to fantasy in BW behavior now instead of hating lets try to understand what the hell is happening and how we can fix it. seems like you just described anyone that is overaly dependent on a degree to validate their worth - as well as anyone inundated by western values. you described men and women.

if you know better, do better. if you do better, encourage others to do the same. a big problem with us is that we can identify problems so well. what r we doing to change? start in your own house. invite people to dinner, inspire them to change. teach children, volunteer, check out the schools. criticism isn't worth anything unless it's constructive.

b constructive.

I stand by Diva08. I believe you have to start within before you can do anything.

I use to be that kind of person who did things because of others and to fit in. NOW I DO IT FOR ME= I can't live the lies I was told all my life I have to do the research and go from there. Plant the seeds in my kids and help them become a solution to the world and not the problem.

If ego here is defined as self-pride and being proud of what Black women have accomplished, then I certainly have "ego" and I think some Black women have ego. Self-pride is a good thing and I wish more of us had it.

On the other hand, if ego is being defined as it is in some circles as looking out for self first, being more self-centered, thinking you're right and not doubting yourself, or having a "me first" attitude, I believe that many Black women have next to no ego.

Using the 2nd definition, I think a lot of Black women would benefit more from having a lot more of this type of ego. Some Black women would be a lot better off if they looked out for themselves first, took better care of themselves, and in general did things that gave them satisfaction and fulfillment without worrying about how everybody else in the family or community is going to think about what they're doing.

I don't know what Black women you're talking about. I have yet to see this altruistic, selfless creature that you speak of.

This is what I mostly see, is Sisters doing this: Spending (wasting) their money on themselves, at the expensive of their self-entrusted responsibilities (bills, children, etc).

I often see far too many sisters wasting money on expensive clothes and shoes, jewelry, and "fake nails", all of which is supposed to somehow make them "happy".

Therefore, I must agree with the general sentiment here, that there seems to be an issue with many Sisters' egos running totally out of control.

Dude you seem to have an antagonist view of all Black women. I know we're not supposed to make comments that could be construed as personal......but ****! EVERY forum that I visit, YOU are the one making blanket statements about Black women. I honestly wonder if a man is soo mad at women, if he really still dersires a woman. Nothing against anyone here that is homosexual. If you've opened up as much on this forum as you say, then why don't you tell us what your REAL issue is? Maybe you're doing some sort of social experiment(and we're the slow one).....where you want to antagonize as many people as possible??????

Maybe you "often" look for the "negative" in Black women.

Also since you should know by now that you and I are not going to agree on hardly anything, it would be best to just express your sentiments without responding to my posts.

Maybe you "often" look for the "negative" in Black women.

I beg to differ. I'm very much a realist. I can and have seen the love and beauty of my Black women and people as a whole. I've also made it a point to speak on it here, whenever possible (apparently you've not bothered to notice that).

But the beauty doesn't negate the negative, nor does it negate the need for it to be addressed.

Also since you should know by now that you and I are not going to agree on hardly anything, it would be best to just express your sentiments without responding to my posts.

Fair enough.

I'm amused at how much you're blowing my perspective out of proportion.

You've gone from saying that I was "depressed" in another thread, to "calling" me a homosexual in this one.

Neither prognosis is even remotely correct.

In the meantime, please do not exaggerate; I've not discussed this issue that I do admit that I have (though you are misunderstanding) in "EVERY" thread.

It's only been discussed in 3 threads. That's it. 3. Only 3.

Visit the Spiritual Section, where I mostly frequent, and tell me if you see me discussing it there. Or the health section where I also frequent. Maybe the Pan-Africanism section too?

You don't like my perspective, cool. Then debate it, like intelligent folks do.

Or opt not to discuss it, like the Sister just did. But don't call me a homo, and don't single me out to make me look crazy.

Capice?

No, what is it?

"Once upon a time there was a certain raja who called to his servant and said, 'Come, good fellow, go and gather together in one place all the men of Savatthi who were born blind... and show them an elephant.' 'Very good, sire,' replied the servant, and he did as he was told. He said to the blind men assembled there, 'Here is an elephant,' and to one man he presented the head of the elephant, to another its ears, to another a tusk, to another the trunk, the foot, back, tail, and tuft of the tail, saying to each one that that was the elephant.

"When the blind men had felt the elephant, the raja went to each of them and said to each, 'Well, blind man, have you seen the elephant? Tell me, what sort of thing is an elephant?'

"Thereupon the men who were presented with the head answered, 'Sire, an elephant is like a pot.' And the men who had observed the ear replied, 'An elephant is like a winnowing basket.' Those who had been presented with a tusk said it was a ploughshare. Those who knew only the trunk said it was a plough; others said the body was a grainery; the foot, a pillar; the back, a mortar; the tail, a pestle, the tuft of the tail, a brush.

"Then they began to quarrel, shouting, 'Yes it is!' 'No, it is not!' 'An elephant is not that!' 'Yes, it's like that!' and so on, till they came to blows over the matter.

"Brethren, the raja was delighted with the scene.

"Just so are preachers and scholars holding various views blind and unseeing.... In their ignorance they are by nature quarrelsome, wrangling, and disputatious, each maintaining reality is thus and thus."

Then the Exalted One rendered this meaning by uttering this verse of uplift

O how they cling and wrangle, some who claim
For preacher and monk the honored name!
For, quarreling, each to his view they cling.
Such folk see only one side of a thing.

I have belonged to several sites before but never an all black one.
I have to say this is the first site where I have seen sisters being constantly belittled about her achievements.
The insecurity of our black men against our black women really needs to cease!
she has a degree, she earned it!
What is it do only black women wear fake nails or living white as you put it!
And what heck is living white? Having something more for ourselves and family. As a black man if you had the same qualities you are complaining about with us we wouldn't even have this problem.
Dam if we and dam if we dont!
Hell if a man can get his hair cut, I can get my nails done, if men can buy 120 dollar gym shoes, I can buy a 50 dollar bangle,
if he can get seasoned tickets to the nicks game, then dammit I can get a sew in weave if it fancies me!
My daughter has more clothes than I do, we have a beautiful home, car and bills paid and money to have fun with each other.
I work my ***** off five to six days a week.
I drive 3 hours a day back and forth to work! I wash clothes
and then I come home to do homework, clean, cook and prepare again for tomorrow! Now that's living right! And the funny part about is if I want to get my butt waxed I deserve it! I'm doing this all by myself, now ask me where my exhusband is? Living his life without my baby and support thereof!
You dam right we pamper ourselves because if we sit around and wait for someone else to we'd be waiting forever!
Look at the attitudes of some of our so called men!
I saw on another thread where a brother mentioned he didn't drive!
After a sister like myself has completed her motherly/womanly duties monday through sunday will she be picking you up for the date or taking you to work or will you be on the bus?Better yet will you ask to drive her car?
Do you stay with your mother?
How many child support payments have you maid?
Do you have your highschool diploma?
